Pighorse Ratflyevery time people post something negative about NMS, a lambcow gets its wings. @_@
Is there really nothing else to this except jump from point of interest to point of interest? Like survival isn't really a challenge, every creature is passive, and the sentinels have been pretty trivial to kill. I kind of don't get it. I've played maybe 4 hours now there should be a little more to it right?
Ok thank you.Used to repair shields. They say they're more efficient than straight up iron, but I haven't found that to be the case.

Best NPC name I've seen so far:
Guys I'm really confused. How do I build better ships and weapons? Do I need to go to a vendor?

Everyone having issues with sentinels just enable gernades on the multitool and shoot them they die in 2 hits. I can kill 4-5 without much effort.

Star systems just don't feel right without gas giants.
Does the selection of ships get better as you keep warping to different stars?
If you don't like it now, you won't like it 10 hours later.
This is one of those games where you either like it or don't like it. There's basically no in-between.
Sigma, Tau, Theta... which is best? Is it always the same for different upgrades?
What is the point of Shield Shards?
Welp, I guess I'm stuck in the game and will have to delete my save and start over.
Unless you all can suggest a way out of this. Basically, I flew out to investigate an abandoned ship. It's the first one I've found, so I figure I'll replace my starter ship with it. I do so, and find out I have to repair everything under the sun on it. I get everything repaired, except for the Pulse Engine, which requires Zinc (I have 18/20 of the required amount).
No where on this planet I'm stuck on is there Zinc![]()
![]()
I can only find Iron, Gold, Aluminum, and Plutonium, and of course Carbon. I've tried walking around to find a settlement, and did find one, but it was abandoned so it didn't have a shop.
Am I just screwed? I would get back into my starter ship, but after quitting the game and coming back later, it's gone.
So I'm renaming everything I discover like this:
(PSN is Articate)
"Articus <PartOfFirstNameThatOriginallyWas> (!)[ElementsOnPlanet]#[type]"
! Means there's green objects, those you can pick up and aggro sentinels, so like the last planet I was on:
Articus Kazu EmTi#b
Then I know I can get Emeril and Titanium there (Zinc and Platinum is part of flora, so just check that). Works for systems too. Then it's about what the big asteroids carry. Now I know where I can get what. b means it was boring![]()
you know, i posted earlier that the veneer is wearing thin, but a few hours later, i'm still having lots of fun. I've had a few crashes while warping from system to system which have resulted in lost progress (i'm on ps4), but overall i'm happy with it

I feel I should do this with gold

You technically don't need the pulse engine to get around... Just takes a long time. Maybe put the controller down and let it travel to the next planet very slowly? Just boost.
Have you looked for flower looking things? They have Zinc and are on nearly every planet.
Zinc is found in flowers you have to walk up to and inspect. Shows up as a yellow icon with a bar on the scanner.Welp, I guess I'm stuck in the game and will have to delete my save and start over.

Some minor problems in getting buildings to sit right, I guess when the building is placed before it fully generates the terrain:
Well, that's just it, the ship won't launch without repairing the pulse engineWhen I try to take off, it pops up saying it's damaged.
Yep, can't find any at all. The only things that remotely look like flowers just give carbon![]()
Is there a trick to finding a system full of lush forest filled planets? Like class of system to watch out for or is literally just luck? Had way too many radioactive/toxic planets lately really.
Just want one really nice looking planet to explore really.
Good to know I'm not the only one. I had high hopes for the new planet I just arrived on and ... nope! I could spend two, three hours on my favourite planets. Now, I'm just moving on. This is getting boring.
So,
I already bought Starbound (in its early access hype) but have not really played it much.
Would I be better off digging into Starbound or jumping in with this?
It seems like they are similar games, but Starbound might have more meat on it's bones? While No Man's Sky looks way better?
