Man, Sentinels might be pushovers on land once you've got upgrades, but they are total dicks in space if you're between systems. Last night I barely escaped a 5-star pursuit in space because I was between systems and couldn't "hide". I lost count of how many Sentinel starships were pursuing me at level 5, but it was probably like 7-8.

Look guys, I'm just trying to steal borrow all a few of your vortex cubes. I'm not sure what the big deal is.....

I think the next OT title should be "No Fun Allowed" as that seems to be the prevalent concept among the people who don't seem to "get" or enjoy this game. They can't seem to let us enjoy it as well.

Played some more this afternoon and I think I've settled on a wish list of things I'd like to see fixed:

- Definitely needs more outpost/monolith variety. These things are way, way too plentiful on literally every planet and moon so it does get tiring seeing the same structures and same layouts.
- Separate item slots for cargo and upgrades. I think this would lead to more interesting ship variety, ie. you could have cargo ships with 20 slots for cargo but only 6 for upgrades, or you could have smaller fighter ships with 10 slots for upgrades but only 4 for cargo.
- The ability to move upgrades. Having to deconstruct and rebuild upgrades just so you can position them differently feels like an oversight to me.

Yep. Had a planet like that where I searched for hours. People kept telling me to look for birds or fish. There was no water on the planet or birds at all. I swear there was no final species, I spent way too much time trying to look for it and gave up.

My first planet was like that. What worked for me-- and not saying this is how things are categorized-- was looking at where the ?????? was; I thought that a lot of the creatures were paired (listed across from each other) in a male/female or related species kind of sorting, so I would look for areas with the discovered animal in hopes of coming across its undiscovered pair, and so far it has worked for me every time when dealing with land/air creatures. Only sea creatures have been one-off for me, but again I've only explored one planet with an ocean so my experience is limited. Again, no clue if that's how those creature lists are sorted, but thinking about it that way has helped me track down stuff.

But you can probably still hear it's sounds. They are the same on every planet, lol. Even planets with no life.

It's super eerie to be on a planet with supposedly no Fauna (but hostile flora), but hearing these deep, almost whale like noises that get louder the closer I get to deep fissures/cave openings.

So ppl was saying that animals dont interact with each other?
Well i just saw a velociraptor kinda dino with the trait (Stalker) chasing and killing a flying pig. The pig creature was trying to run away for some time, but the dino was faster and managed to do enought damage to kill him. After he killed him he just walked in circles around the dead creature untill i got close enought and then the chase was on me. :P

I have seen many creatures chase others, but in all the other times the stalkers was slower than the preys. This was the 1st time i actully saw the hunt to the end.

They really need to patch in eating and hunger (for creatures). The fact that they never eat their prey is terrible immersion-breaking payoff

yeah its super annoying. If you want to go shit on the game go do it in a different thread. In the past week the game has paid for it self with my expectations.

Perfect game just to zone out and get lost in despite flaws, im looking forward to see what kind of support they will have going forward.

It's cute seeing the same asshats jump-in head first on any chance to shit on the game or the developers. And by cute I mean sad af lol.

I don't mind people offering criticism in this thread or wanting to say their piece on why they don't like the game. There should be a place in this thread for that The problem is those who want to drum up controversy over every issue.

Just been getting something to eat do just wanted to drop an FYI for my DLC post last page.

I really wouldn't mind paid DLC. If it gets us content quicker and it's fairly priced then bring it on! Can't wait for Outpost and Frieghter building!

I haven't really seen this discussed yet, but are planets actually orbiting?

When playing the game or even watching stream they don't seem to be... which begs the question... are day/night cycles based on orbiting or just simulated..... hmmmm

Found this badass rifle multi-tool just chilling in a random outpost.

I found a planet full of Venom Sacs and i farmed for an hour. I got myself 10m units and bought a nice 30 slot ship for 9.5m!

I still haven't seen a venom sac on any of the planets that I've visited.

Also, don't forget you can get the other traders and merchants to lower the price on their ship by removing all of the upgrades on yours. The ship I wanted was 23M, but before I bought it I removed all of the shield, gun, pulse drive and hyperdrive upgrades. The price went down to 15M. 38 slots, too!

Pre patch they were orbiting but they had to take it out because testers would feel disoriented apparently...

Do not go to reddit...
People are actually saying shit like
"Only idiots who fell for the hype like this game"

And people are seriously upvoting that bs..

IIRC, they decided to change that because playtesters didn't realize that things in the sky change position when a planet moves.

I really wish they would put it back.

Not sure if serious.... seriously?

*edit*

I've been trying to find info on this everywhere, and this is the first I'm hearing of it. Just curious now, was this mentioned in an interview somewhere?

*edit2*

nevermind found it... patch notes from 1.03 ... WHYYY

Wow, I'm patting myself on the back for figuring this one out myself.
Nice, as you should be. I wish I'd figure this out earlier instead of just jumping star systems thinking ships automatically get better and better with more slots. I know I wasted at least an hour at a space station just ship hunting.

I honestly understand why people don't like or even hate the game, and I'm fine with that, but it's this mentality that makes me angry (the bolded).

Ohhhh didn't know that!!!
Thanks for the advice.
You are welcome to farm Venom Planet anytime :)

Patch 1.03 noted that "it’s [sic] effects have been reduced further." I'd imagine if they were removed wholesale that it would have said that? I don't know. The only anecdote I have is that I've been on a few planets with some massive mountains diving into deep valleys and I've stood opposite them and watched, as the day cycle progressed, the shadows start slowly creeping down the face of the mountain and then into the valley below and it progressed into dusk. Whether it's getting its information about its light source/sun's position from something other than it turning itself, I don't know.

Having to move installed upgrades feels like a design decision to me. It's a risk if you want to move it later, it costs a bit of resources because you only get half of the mats from deconstruction. Makes ships/multitools with better layouts and upgrades matter.

I actually like the push-pull of upgrades and cargo sharing slots. I like the freedom to spec more in combat upgrades or for more storage. That said, there needs to be upgrades for cargo haulers. Something like an upgradable "cargo compactor" that lets you stack more per slot based on what tier of upgrade you have. So say you have Cargo Compactor Sigma, instead of stacks of 1000 on your ship, you could have stacks of 1500, or even 2000. And then with all 3-4 installed, you could stack like 10,000 per slot. Of course you'd need to be able to transfer technologies between ships to make this work when you buy new ships, but I think it would add an extra layer of progression that would appeal to traders (and hoarders). They also need to add a small amount of stacking for non-rare sellables STAT. Power cores and shield shards serve no purpose right now when the pure minerals work just as good/better and can essentially work multiple times per slot.

But agreed, we could definitely use more ship and building variety.

I think changing these things would make it too easy.

If you put an upgrade in the wrong place, well, you'll learn not to do it again.

I wish there were an easier way to tell which planets had no animals other than landing in them.

What would be great is if you've discovered a new star system/planet and scanned the plants and animals on it, then when someone pops into that star system later, they're able to see while in orbit what you've discovered so they know whether they want to land. Or you could mark cool waypoints with text "farm Venom sacs here!" or "Trade Outpost here!" sorta like the Soulsborne messaging system. I love seeing new stuff and discovering new stuff (even the garbage planets), but I suspect as the game goes on, we'll be finding other people's discoveries more often, so it'd be cool to not have to waste our time on barren rocks with no rare resources that have been 100% scanned. This community seems open and willing to help, and I suspect they could foster that by making communication between players better and more useful.

No, the systems are made up to look cool, they don't have an orbit

It only looks cool from the ground. In space they are just clumped together in a small bit of space in the star system. Looks ridiculous. My starting system was just four planets lined up in a row. I don't even know if planets orbit their star anymore, the way Sean claimed they would. The lack of real solar system orbits really breaks the immersion for me if I pay attention to it at all.

They really need to fix landing on launch pads. Maybe 50% of the time, my ship lands 10 feet away from the launch pad. Rarely do I ever get the target prompt and that radar is useless with it, so is there a real way to land better?

Fly low/close until the pad is just out of view below you, then land? Only time that doesn't seem to work for me is if another ship is already landing in that spot.

Agreed though, needs a better prompting. The cursor exists to show you if you're targeting a landing pad, but it's hard to see in some ships.

Getting lost in tunnels, blasting through to the surface and seeing daylight is so good.

Hell yes. I was having a mild panic attack after exploring an underwater cave network for about 15 minutes and worried that wherever it would spit me out naturally would be too damn far away from my ship, so I launched a few grenades upward and blew a hole into the open ocean. Reassured me that I ought to be able to get out of most spelunking situations I venture into, so I can't wait to get home and explore some more.

I like how your mind works. Cargo compactor upgrades. That's damn good thinking!

Found yet another planet with Gravitino Orbs and with my upgraded suit, I can carry away ten of those per run now. Not entirely sure it's the fastest way to get money, but it's fast enough.

I also found a usable crashed ship, but I needed that Resonator for the Hyperdrive, and had to buy one. Can you get the recipe for that?

My biggest want right now is copper. I can find everyhing else that's green, except copper, and I need 400 of it for a Warp Drive upgrade. I assume it's in the potato asteroids?`I'd love to find a planet with copper towers, though.

I've found copper towers before but they're extremely rare.

Oh I did too. I only figured this out after already investing into two different ships. Once I figured out that the ones you find are almost always guaranteed +1 and that you only had to fix pulse and hyperdrive, I made this my main goal. Of course... now the "look" of my ship isn't what I've always wanted, but... INVENTORY SPACE FOR DAYS!
