1st impressions:
- It's a lot smaller than I expected. Nice!
- Controller feels smaller, too, or certainly lighter? The D-pad feels a little cheaper. Less movement there I feel.
- Oh shit, the visuals for DA Performance Mode are so much better! I am really pleased with what I'm seeing here.

Did anyone test out Avatar? it had a large DRS range of 1800p to 1296p. Basically 75% FSR scaling all the way down to 58%. is the PS5 Pro looking sharper than it did before in quality mode?

I dont know what Sony was thinking with this crap. currently its much easier to find PS5 Pro than disc drive and if most of the games you own are physical then PS5 pro fucking useless.
I want to know whats fucking logic behind this idiotic decision and I hope to god they dont pull this crap with PS6.

Ps5 pro is THE reason why I did not get a gaming PC. The gap is narrower than ever and does not compensate the loss of convenience and easiness of the console. But to each his choice.

Will my 7600x/7900xt beat a Pro? You bet.
Does my PC have any ability to play Demons Souls, GT7, Rebirth or Stellar Blade today? No.
Therein lies my problem, so buy, I must, a Pro.

I bought the disc drive right away! when its sony announced the ps5 pro and its compatible to that machine.
I thought it was $300, but maybe $280. I traded mine in with 2 controllers anyway and got $350. It's kinda dumb that they're giving you an extra $50-70 for a used controller lol. Just go find a used on on FBM or something.

True, and with the Pro out and not being bad at all in the specs department they really should start implementing more options in game for more graphical options

Yea it's a bloody joke honestly. Can't find a drive anywhere in Australia and haven't been able to since they announced the Pro and people snapped them up. I have enough digital stuff to keep me occupied but I have a lot of AAA releases on disc that I simply just cannot play right now.

I took the day off work to indulge in the pro today. Only tried the following....
Fortnite, couldn't tell any difference.
Spider Man MM - Looks fantastic and running at 90-110fps
Demon's Souls - Looked great at least, flawless now, spun it up to try for 10 minutes, spent nearly 3 hours in it
Baldur's Gate 3 - Looks great, feels solid at 60fps
Can't wait to have more time on it, most exited to see NMS and Kayak Mirage in PSVR2 later

My source is i played it and it looked noticeably sharper than on base ps5.TrebleShot talked about it, but I'm not sure what his source is.
There's a few games it has had this effect on . It's not patched but means that the DRS range sticks to the higher range.
DRS is actually pretty good for these games. I Think that's what COD does.

Yea it seems a good upgrade if you are console only. I think it's hard to justify going from og ps5 to the pro unless you are a super fan.

I hear the stand kinda sucks. Also there is a knockoff version of the stand you can get for cheaper.
Currently I'm resting it on my OG PS5 stand vertically. Works fine and has no chance of falling over unless I want it to.

Pro is worth it for the increased performance on PS Portal alone, imo.

The only moving part is the fan, so should not matter at all, as long as air circulation is good.

Probably horizontal seeing that heat rises, but honestly I don't know just assuming. If you are stacking components on components greater likelihood of heat getting trapped. I'm not sure how much of the design takes that into account. Probably some YouTube videos out there showing the differences in heat based on orientation.

F******s couldn't provide one single disc drive for launch.
I have preordered from two different retailers. No one could deliver a drive.
Checked two electronic stores. Zero Drives from Sony. Called Media Markt no disc drives for release.

In europe the shit is completely sold out for weeks. I even preordered a drive from a retailer on 30th of september. Still waiting because Sony isn't providing any drives.

The whole art is subjective.
I would never recommend upgrading form base ps5 to the pro for the benefit of a portal. That is madness to me.

Performance on the PS5 Pro itself.
Games just look better, it's just at 1080p and no HDR.
It's not going to look like 4K on an OLED, obviously. Remote Play just streams the image that's normally displayed by your tv to your Portal, so whatever benefits you get on Pro, you get on Portal (within the limits of Portal's screen).

For example, rn I'm playing Ratchet & Clank at Fidelity Pro with RT Reflections and RT Ambient Occlusion both at High and 120hz at AUTO (got a 120hz OLED connected to my PS5) and it looks amazing and plays smoothly. Even more smoothly at Peformance Pro.
Just at 1080p with 60fps screen.
I never said I advice anyone to buy a Pro just for Portal.
It's an added bonus that happens to be a big benefit to me, as 90% of my gametime is spent on Portal due to having a family.

DF was talking up Horizon Remastered as the best looking title and most impressive. I bought it based on this since it was a $10 upgrade.
What a mistake. This game looks dated and within the first minute, I experience shadow glitches in the cutscenes. It looks like a PS4 game on a PC emulator where it forces higher resolutions. I don't even like this series so this was a giant waste. Nothing is super impressive about any of it. Horizon 2 looks incredible on the Pro though.
