The Last of Us Part II trailer hype will lock December for Sony

Even though it is probably launching in the end of 2018 at the earliest

In addition to my last post I also wanted to note as I own both the PS4 Pro and the Xbox One S I can't help but wonder why people feel the need to talk down physical media like UHD Bluray movies.

You may be fine with lower quality streams (even some UHD streams don't match standard Bluray discs due to compression/bandwidth) but it's ridiculous to speak for everyone as if the format doesn't matter/won't gain traction. Some people will naturally prefer and appreciate the experience it provides.

The fact that TLOU Part 2 exists is enough to sway people to buy a PS4 now if they are looking to buy a console. Masterful marketing.

Hmm. Wasn't there a report saying MS won BF? I guess whatever the margin was, it wasn't enough to make a difference.
Report by Adobe. And it was only for "online sales":
Adobe’s Black Friday report is based on aggregated and anonymous data from 22.6 billion visits to retail websites. Adobe measures 80 percent of all online transactions from the top 100 U.S. retailers.

Ah, roger that. Guess retail still takes up a big chunk of sales during these periods.

Like I and many others said Sony does not need a big holiday game.

The holidays are always overflowing with third party games.

I can understand the wish of some for a Holiday packed with 1st-party games; however, the market has showed them twice already that it doesn't really matter at the end.

Sony just released a new console. If there was no Pro MS would have probably won their 5th month in a raw. It's still amazing how MS managed to turn things around in the US and only be beaten due to a new console release.

The Xbox One S helped Microsoft win as well.

Plus, there's a big possibility many held off for the Pro instead of spending money on a PS4 Slim.

Here is a thread were everyone "talk up" UHD Bluray, you are welcome :)

Wait...WHAT?! You haven't seen The Lion King??!?!?!! What world am I living in??

A world in which 6 year olds were born in 2010 :p Time is unforgiving. Lion King is awesome, but it's a bit "old" these days. Not saying that user is 6 years old obviously, but not knowing that movie (and movies from that decade) will become more and more normal tbh.

And I am still surprised that MS didn't bother with a xbox event

These are all the new, non-remaster first party announcements at PSX:
- Uncharted TLL
- Knack 2
- Starblood Arena
- TLOU Part 2

One of the games above? Announced earlier than it could've been.

Don't forget that MS has been trying to avoid announcing games too early nowadays and they don't have enough 3rd party stuff from especially Japanese devs to support a show at the same scale of E3.

Disney films used to be an exception, but I am not sure how popular the traditionally animated stuff will be with the generation born after its death.

Can someone give me details about the upcoming sales mentioned on the first page? PS4 for $250 starting the 11th? I assume the slim Uncharted bundle?

And what's the price gonna be for X1S? Same date? How long do both sales last?

I don't know if that will push people to by a PS4 now, but the momentum doing into next year should be strong for Sony. They have a strong lineup to leverage off of.

I didn't say it would push them to buy console now, but if you looking to buy a console now it becomes a factor in your decision assuming you don't plan to buy multiple consoles.

That's in line with Phil Spencer's directive though. He didn't want to encourage console wars, so celebrating console demand in general makes sense.

That is nonsense... MS has been pretty douchy over the few months that they won NPD with Aaron Greenburg back to his usual obnoxious tweets. They lost the biggest shopping month of the year and now it's all Kumbaya?

This generation will be looking at the Live action Beauty & the Beast film, Jungle Book and the inevitable Live action Lion King movies are their classics.

I know amazing right? It took 4 consoles to beat MS 1 console right? Maybe the retailers and Sony conspired and the numbers were miscounted and really Xbox 1 won? Sheesh!

I was 19 at the time Lion King came out. ;) I watched Snow White (1937) with my mother, when I was a kid.

No surprise here. As many already expected.

Tbh it is surprising to me usually Xbox fire sales usually somehow win November in US even if just by a slim margin.

They've really fallen behind even in home turf. They really need to up their game. Slacking hard while long-term plans of Sony catch them off guard year after year.

But knowing Microsoft habits nothing is gonna change. But I'll still hope.

Oh I totally agree. Sorry if I misread.

It's clear Spencer said that when they were losing NPD just to kinda deflect and get people not to ask him questions about it. You're right. When they started to win clearly the usual players boasted hard.

This is the second year in a row Microsoft's "ignore everything but the Holiday Season" strategy has failed. I think a change in tactics is in order...

But GAF told me without a 4k Blu-Ray drive no one would want the Pro!

Their new message should be everything preseason outside of July - October.

Never mind having UHD Blu Rays in their collection, I bet they didn't even have a 4K TV in their home.
Ahh good point and one I made in that famous thread as well. It just didn't make sense to me that an XB1 owner would be a proponent of UHD or 4k TV's, the main function of the console which is gaming hardly does 1080p on any major release.

To fuel how important UHD was just so odd, since there were hardly any UHD blurays on the market either.

Ummm I usually don't buy media until I have a device that plays it...
Ha lol, but most of these UHD proponents didn't even have 4k TV's. Some couldn't even tell the difference between 720p and 1080p weeks before... I'll tell you something, there's no way I'd have bought a 4k tv to hook up to an XB1-S. However, some spoke like they had XB1S hooked up and they were in gaming glory, even when most titles were at 900p.

Anyway, I think PS4 winning was clear. People were just waiting for the Pro to launch to buy one, especially since it was only $100.00 between the Pro and the OG for substantial benefits on the upside. One thing is certain, there is a market for both PS4 models, and I think Slim will still do pretty well these holidays, but I'd wager that Pro will have the bigger numbers for the holidays over slim.

But that's the thing Ps4 has won 3 out of 4 November's this generation. Yet somehow people cling to the one X1 won and make it the norm.

Report me for trolling ND/TLoU2 threads
The fact that is it took the original ps4, the slim the ps4 pro and VR to beat Microsoft in november in the end is still a win for Microsoft, they may have lost the battle but microsoft won the war.

Is what one fanboy I know will say on his video/stream tonight

I'm not really interested in system wars, but I'm kinda looking forward to hearing how they'll spin this. MAUs are the ones which matter?

already got you covered, other than "it was by a small margin, and wheres the proof I bet they are lying"

I was but a 1 year old baby when it released! :p I also ended up watching a bunch of older Disney movies, but even they feel the effects of time. Especially so when they keep on making quality movies every other year, new fans can just focus on the newer stuff.

In any case, super off-topic lol

Because MS "deserved" to win, whatever the fuck that means. People just cannot seem to grasp that people see different values in the consoles. I still remember GameFAQs circa 2014 and all those "How is Sony winning? They have no games!" threads.
