That is really depressing, I don't blame Sony for not caring anymore. Now it cements the idea that the ps tv is just trying to get rid of surplus from the JP launch last year.

Honestly it's not that bad for Vita measure. IIRC this should be Vita's second best month of the year. Take into consideration that there wasn't any AAA game release for Vita
However Sony should offer a Minecraft Vita Bundle for Black Friday/Christmas. This would at least keep it alive.

I bought the wiiu at launch and only have mh3u,smw3d, mario wiiu, and luigi dlc. The funny thing is all my buddies who bought into current gen bought a wiiu along side the ms/ps console.I really hope Nintendo can bring in some momentum coming forward. I want to get Mk8,bayo, and smash. They are low on my priority list though. Lords of the Fallen and Tales of Hearts R are coming soon.

There won't be any competition this gen. Sad. At least I would prefer closer numbers between PS4 and XBONE, just for the sake of a good old equitabe console war. But right now it is not a war, it is a slaughter...
Concerning WiiU I just hope they will reach a stage where they can be a little bit more healthy financially speacking.

But mass market is sad. Destiny, despite being far from critically acclaimed sells tons. Bayonetta 2 despite good reviews will probably bomb (it is not sure but highly probable).
Today a commercial success of a game depends so much of the size of the marketing campaign...

Competition is exactly why this gen is so one sided so far. One console provides significantly more value in the majority of consumers eyes so it sells more. If MS creates significant value for their platform things could change but I'm jot sure how's they'd do that at this point as much of the value is due to superior hardware which cannot be altered or improved upon.

I do agree that the influence of game marketing is both sickening and depressing these days. I'm often appalled by friends who say they won't buy a game because of its review scores or because they haven't seen it covered in their favorite gaming site (recently this happened when I recommended a friend check out Shadow of Mordor -_-). Hopefully with the advent of easy streaming things will change over the course of the gen. I imagine if becomes a lot harder to deceive in marketing when a gamer can fine into a random stream at literally any moment to check out the game in question. It really puts the power back I t he hands of the gamers in my opinion.

Man those are ridiculously good numbers for PS4. Sony is pulling ahead very quickly in such a short space of time and I don't see Microsoft reducing the gap this year. It'll be interesting to see November/December split. 2015 is going to be very interesting.

You forgot to add that Bayonetta 2 is an exclusive and Destiny is in 4 platforms.

That changes everything.

Most people won't buy the WiiU just for Bayo 2. Sure they might like other WiiU exclusives but we won't know.

I think the reasoning stems from preventing people taking GAF info and leaking it out so people feel better at leaking stuff to GAF since only members can be part of the FreeGAFsons.

But the worst is that it isn't even about deceiving by marketing IMO. Marketing here is about gaining mindshare. Destiny is a thing because because there is huge ads everywhere, TV spots all the time. It is massive brainwashing and it even put the idea in a lot of heads that it was a PS4 exclusive.

The good majority of people who spread GAF leaks around the Internet are random lurkers.

Making GAF leaks a members-only affair through email tags would really cut down on the amount of sharing around the Internet.

You'd still have people sharing it...but it'd become very niche very quickly.


NPD has done some pretty nasty, brutal crackdowns in the past 5 years (RIP GameCrate.com)...we don't want to incur their wrath.

I can't wait until we get digital sales in NPD numbers. It's hard to accurately compare gens and even game franchises correctly. I would imagine the destiny digital sales were much higher on PS4 than Xbox one but I can't prove it

If you don't like Nintendo games then a Wii U is pointless. I don't like how shallow a lot of their games are thematically, and the family-centric approach doesn't appeal to my personal tastes. The only game I'd personally enjoy on Wii U is Smash Bros.

So yeah. People complaining about lack of games are complaining about a lack of games that they want to play rather than literal numbers of games.

In your case, that's understandable. I was referring more to people who have enjoyed them in the past, and the ones who would enjoy them if only they gave the Wii U a chance.

I did mainly because I'm more interested in the games coming to Xbox One that won't be on the PS4 vs. the vice versa.

Isn't the first time I chose the weaker console that had more games I was interested in vs. same gen competition at the time I got it (e.g.: PS2).

MS needs to take the same route -- further differentiate even more in terms of games. At this point I think they need a new IP that could get really huge mainstream attention to have a chance at catching up in North America in anyway.

XBOX Live and system updates help but that won't be enough. A new IP could gain lots of attention but again that won't be enough. Sony has proven over the long haul they are more committed to supporting their hardware and have much better appeal worldwide. The PS4 could also bring back Japanese developers to the console and more importantly the gamers. The only way for the XBOX One to grab the attention away from the PS4 is a game changer at this point. Kinect proved that won't be in. If I were Microsoft I would drop the price to $299 but just how badly is the system actually selling compared to previous consoles in the past, not just the PS4?

Microsoft has been very quiet about overall hardware sales so that is not a good sign. If they haven't reached 8 million by the end of this year then something drastic has to occur. Drop to $299 and if that doesn't work start planning your next system to come out before the PS5.
