so the absolute latest and greatest 30tflop card cant even get 45fps on a new release game in 4k?

I know FS2000 melts PCs but i would have thought a brand new 30tflop card would have been able to handle it better.

with thats said, i assumed a 2080ti could do better than 35fps.

Im assuming it would get 60fps in 1440p end DLSS bringing it up to 4k
The problem is not GPU performance, it's API bottlenecking. There's no hardware that will overcome those kinds of limitations.

Finally I can play RDR2 properly (coming from 1080Ti)

You're getting a nice jump with 2x the traditional raster performance, plus awesome benefit of DLSS in all sorts of games. Solid upgrade and great bang-for-buck as opposed to something like a 2080ti.

TPU has the useful Average FPS for all games tested at any given res, which gives a nice snapshot of what sort frames to expect:
3080 all games avg fps(Ultra/Max Settings) = 1080p/186.7fps | 1440p/154.6fps | 4K/97fps

Yep 1080Ti will have an amazing jump . Not so upgrade much on 2080Ti users that they need to start panic yet .

FS2000 will see a big boost when they implement dx12, ATM it's held back by an old API.

Looking at all the reviews I think I will stay with my 2080ti for this gen of card.
Wouldn't make sense to upgrade right now. Either wait for the 3080 Ti or until more games start to use full path tracing because in those games the 3080 kicks the 2080 Ti's ass.

Those benchmarks are very impressive! The fps you get on 1080p using 2080Ti is the same fps you get on 1440p using a 3080!

The GPU surely consumes power too. 320-322w standard. Many people with not so powerful PSU's will struggle

Got to praise the stock cooling also. They did a great job

Now that everything is out, what is recommended PSU wattage?

(yes, I'm lazy to Google it, so help me out guys)

Expected, but I was still hoping my 650W platinum EVGA would be good enough. Oh well. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Still, it's gonna be nice upgrade sometimes from my 1080.
It is enough. You won't likely reach 600W power consumption, even with the 3080. Unless of course, you do some crazy OC on the CPU side as well.

looking at that it makes me happy that I could actually sell my Saphire 5700XT at just about 430€ while my initial purchase over black friday ended up being 459€. In total I used a graphic card for ~9months at 29€ having great FPS with all that I have been playing and now I can truly buy a 1440p/4k graphic card I wanted.

I got lucky, finally.

750+ .. Anything less is not worth it

I have a 850w 80+Platinum and I won’t need to change it. Not even thinking of upgrading anytime soon so I’ll stick with my 2080Ti

Unless the 3090 turns out to be something phenomenal then maybe. Also we know that we’re getting super/Ti next year or so.

Bryank75 Bryank75 you still coming back to the PC fold?
Yes, I'll get a rig set up by early summer '21. 3080 for sure.

But I also decided that I want to get a Cintiq 16 to draw and stuff, so that's another grand probably.

Games I'll probably play are Crusader Kings 3 and other strategy games, I think Civ 6 would be way more enjoyable on PC. Even though I will still found the Religion of PlayStation (LOL).

How's it looking for you?

Glad to hear it. I'm good. Tomorrow is going to be spent trying to get a 3080. I'm looking forward to the PS5 event today. Good day for gamers.

man i dont care about the benchmarks. I'm comming from a 1050ti and a shitty monitor and going to a 3080 and a 1440p monitor. going to be huge difference for me cant wait
According to some clowns here that is all useless, you need a 3090 and a 8k display

The writing was on the wall, everyone is trying those clever upscaling tricks because we're deep into the diminishing returns housefire era of hardware.
Intel lost to AMD the moment they couldn't just push their cores to the max without melting everything, this is no different.
Eventually they will just have an official statement, "sorry to everyone that got fooled into buying native 4K hardware lolmao" and give up.

Everyone else did, because it sucked.
But yeah, he is. Or at very least an Nvidia hater, and a notoriously bad one, too.
Hardware Unboxed disagrees about it sucking, along with a bunch of other reputable review sites. The 5700XT was the best card you could buy for the money. In fact, for 1440p, FPS per dollar wise, it still is, even after today's reviews. At 4K, the RTX 3080 is the best value right now in terms of FPS per dollar. I get the feeling that's going to change soon.

As for him being an nVidia hater, well, he was arguing for RTX over the 5700XT, which to me was always ridiculous. It's more that people pretend that nVidia shouldn't get any criticism, and anyone that does is a hater. nVidia doesn't get enough criticism at all. Look how many defended the RTX 2000 series, and now it's quite evident what a ripoff it was. Obviously barely anyone that bought one or were cheering for them will admit it though. Look at the GTX 970 and its 3.5GB. People still remember that card in a positive light. An insignificant power draw issue on the RX480? AMD BAD!!

If the RTX 3000 series was made by nVidia, everyone would be worrying about how power hungry it is despite it being fast, and that they would wait a month for the competitor. But somehow, the other way around, everyone simply considers the competitor late for some weird reason.

How quickly do you guys think scalped 3080s will sell out on eBay at twice the MSRP ($1,399)? Do you guys think that people would buy them at that price if they're unavailable at official retailers?

Some people definitely will buy them at that price. I think even at those prices they will sell out quite quickly.

Remember that miners are also looking to buy these cards.

It's there on the second page. We lost him on the same day as Thugnificient.

So he got banned because mods couldn't handle logical thinking?
It's common knowledge that consoles win in regards of price/performance and what they can deliver for "small" bucks, but they can never outperform the beasts that 3k$+ PCs can throw into the ring.

He went a little extra with the pcmr stuff. I don't care for the ban but he'll be back. I'm looking forward to hearing his thoughts on the 3000 series.

Bummer, I love him being a part of the conversation.

I'm really thinking that the 3080 is gonna be the perfect 3440x1440 card. Slightly less demanding than full 4k but looks better than 1440p. The few benchmarks I've seen make UW performance look very good. Though I've not seen any benchmarks from anyone that I trust, just random Youtubers so who knows. But it would make sense that the card works super well at Ultrawide resolutions.

Does anyone know when orders will go live in the UK? Midnight???

Supposedly 9 AM EST, not sure what that translates to for you. But I wager there will be early releases on some websites so I'd be prepared. I already set up my Account on Nvidia so hopefully I can just add to cart and check out.
