Officer Chun-Li costume spotted in latest SFV beta, also some other lame costumes

Did the original SF4 have alt outfits day one?

I like most of these even if they're not (all) outlandish but they got several years to add more craziness. I mean that in a nonsexual way, too. Chun HKP is sexy enough for me, I don't need TNA shoved into my face in every media ever I consume. I'd rather have a game that speaks to more people.

Eh, I mean let's look at this. This is Capcom, I'm not sure about the full ratio but you have guys like Ono on there, they're a Japanese company as well. It might just be me but I get a feeling that their idea of what's sexual to women would be pretty skewed compared to how most women might generally think. By that I mean while you're saying this there's no doubt in my mind that most men in that company would say "ok, let's have this buff dude with a shirt off, he looks badass and I'm sure women will love him" and a lot agree. Sure in generally what you say is accurate but I'm just not sure Capcom fully agrees given how they've done things for the longest time.

I'm not an "expert" on what makes women attracted to men but I don't think anyone can convince me that all of Capcom as a whole thinks the same as you considering this. I don't think they'd look that deep into it personally. I can literally see someone in the offices show a picture of a shirtless Akuma and have another guy nod his head saying "yeah this will get the girls rollin" before heading off to design the costume.

I just don't have faith in that company regarding this. They're not exactly the sharpest knives in the book.

I agree. 100.

Yep but it's pretty much been like this.

February 24, 2009 (North America); February 27, 2009 (Europe): Femme Fatale Pack including alternate costumes for: Chun-Li, Cammy, Sakura, Rose, and C.Viper.
March 3, 2009 (North America); March 6, 2009 (Europe): Shoryuken Pack including alternate costumes for: Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Gouken, and Dan.
March 10, 2009 (North America); March 13, 2009 (Europe): Shadaloo Pack including alternate costumes for: Seth, M. Bison, Sagat, Balrog, and Vega.

You do know there are billions of people in the world right? Saying millions of people are sick of sexist bullshit is the least outlandish thing to say that i can think of.
Going by that metric is kind of pointless. You could also say millions are sick of videogames when you include the entire human species.

Hopefully developers continue to stick with their vision (if they want to sexualize characters, not have minorities being represented on their game, etc... it's their call), despite what people on the internet protest.

And hopefully, people that protest start to boycott games that don't share their vision or just not buy them, to show the industry that they need to start considering these things going forward.

Except that we were talking in the context of video games, which has nowhere near a billion players worldwide generally. If they did, the number one selling console of all time would've moved a lot more than 150 million units. In that context, from what I've seen on both sides, it's more of a case loud minorities who get heard.

Gamergate: Loud minority
People who are actively sick of sexualized portrayals in video games: Loud minority

These are the people who get heard, those who are fine with the way people are portrayed in video games right now aren't really setting up video's to say so, except as a response.

Anyway, as for the alts, I think they all look great, but I'd understand if some people didn't like them. While it is impossible to please everyone, my recommendation would be to allow you to toggle which costumes you see and which you don't. That way, everyone gets what they want.

Exactly. Which is why his disbelief that "millions of people are tired of that shit" and the fact that he felt the need to correct "millions" to "some" is so ridiculous.

Edit: even if we confined it to gaming, the gaming community has hundreds and hundreds of millions of people. "Millions" being tired of sexist bullshit continues to be the least outlandish thing to say that i can think of.

Ok, I remember Marvel 3 doing the same thing (small dlc outfits over time). I hope all of these are day 1 and you can unlock them in game. Since they have dlc characters dripping out I doubt they need to string outfits along the same way. I wonder if SFV will get alt filters like the pencil and ink that SF4.

You didn't like Xrd? Never played it because of the inevitable wasteland that non-Capcom fighting games become, but it looked interesting.
I'm not going to say it's a bad game, but it's super heavy and it feels really stiff. It's easily my least favorite GG.

All you people going on about numbers are missing Garlador's point and ignoring the more important part, which was, "many people disagree with this." And, if you think that statement is incorrect, this debate needs to roll back several steps.

Grown up burnt out Salarywoman Sakura is gonna be great

I don't know where I saw this, or if I'm just imagining it (maybe it was a background joke of some Udon comic), but I seem to vaguely grown up Sakura working in the same law firm as Phoenix Wright. Again, don't quote me on that, but it is a vague memory in my mind.

"Many" and "Millions" carry vastly different connotations. I'm not saying that there aren't many people out there who dislike fanservice, but we need to keep things into perspective if there's any hope of an actual conversation taking place other than just the personal sniping that these types of threads always devolve into.

What you're doing now is applying male sexuality to female sexuality. We don't get turned on by the same shit you do. Deal with it.

Ok, i feel like we're going in circles here so i'm going to just finish with this

If we're talking about PURELY physical sexualisation... I believe both genders are getting it in THIS case

I know SOME, men/women like physically attractive, half naked men/women, and nudity in general. (i.e. strippers, models, etc.)

I am not telling you what you like, or that you're tastes in men are wrong... but conversely i disagree with the notion that you can somehow tell me the exact intent of the developer had in mind when he created this characters

That's literally you saying, you're not a woman so you can't say what we like, BUT i'm a woman and i can tell you what men like

Both genders have characters being PHYSICALLY sexualized. And as i said, this was a discussion about the costumes, so i assumed the sexualization we were referring to in THIS case, was physical sexualization

In the context of Garlador's post, I vehemently disagree. What changes when substituting those words other than impact and emphasis? The meaning is identical. Your heightened focus on it is really puzzling me as it takes nothing from his argument. In fact, this is the primary contributor to "sniping" taking place here now.

Gaf/Capcom don't shoot me please.
Are the ALT costumes free? Or did someone find them inside the game and capcom will try to sell them later? I've heard that all content would be free tho if you play the game?

could anyone help me catch up on the latest regarding this ^

Millions = Most people dislike this and it needs to end now
Many = This is a topic of discussion, but not a feeling held by the majority. Still, alternatives and ways to address these issues are worth looking into.

Okay, you're purposefully trying to take attention away from the actual argument. Got it.

Not even mentioning the alarming fact that you think if a minority objects it devalues their objection.

It seems like those costumes will be story related and purchasable with in-game currency.

Ya but only a few million people at most are the core audiences that would buy SFV. It may not be big overlap with the anti-sexy group.

Didn't say it devalued the objection. Said that a few people disliking something doesn't mean everyone dislikes something. Their objections are still worth looking into for a way to make them happy.

I hate the g-string showing on Laura, it reminds of late 90's comic book covers.

Interpreting sexualization and the developers intent is easy. It's in your face at all times. You can see Laura's ass cheeks, underboob, her knockdown state is sexualized, and I think you even see her camel toe. There's nothing subtle about this and there's no way to misinterpret the developers intentions. Out of female characters so far, all of them except Karin are sexualized to a degree. Yet most of the male characters are ugly. Only Hot Ryu and arguably Vega has been overtly sexualized, and only Hot Ryu like the girls. So don't give me this "equality" diatribe. It's insulting to my intelligence.

Let's play a game!

What's sexualized?

They still haven't fixed the character select right-side jiggly boobs glitch?

Also good lawd the thickness on these girls.

Good Lord you people, it's a feature. Not a bug.

Please stop asking Capcom to fix it.

Also, it's been removed. The jiggle videos are people backporting the costumes to the beta which still had it.

This raises an important question. Where can I see Laura's alt 2p selection screen?

Disliking the costumes doesn't mean you're in the anti-sexy or equality or ethics in video games or w/e the fuck crowd. IDGAF about any of that. Excessive titties and ass for no reason other than to just have them to raise some dicks/extra $$$ can definitely hurt the perception of this game in the greater gaming audience. If you overdo it you become like DOA. Also, little kids played SF in the arcades/on their SNES and I would hope this game remains suitable for that age group, too.

What is real? How do you define real? If real is what you can feel, or touch, or taste, then real is simply lies in the heart of battle.
