Hey, were you thinking right when the pregnant lady was going out into the water, that Bob was about to say "and we will be right back"?

I was just thinking "I wish she was carrying my child"...

Who the hell cares about athletics besides women and pansies?

Since this is your seventh post in the thread, can you tell me if you're a woman or a pansy?

The US is being owned right now. Teams that were expected to medal are being eliminated left and right. Currently the US has yet to medal in any event![/URL]

Oh the humanity! I, as a person living in the United States, am deeply shocked and appaled at the poor performance of the athletes representing the geographical location that I inhabit.

Australia was sooo close to finishing 3rd in Sydney. This year it doesn't look like they have a shit at top 3. For a country it's size, it's still pretty amazing that they are so close to the top.

Aussie Aussie Aussie

I went to the Roots store on Bloor yesterday...
...they had monitors showing the opening ceremonies (like most Roots stores) and had the volume CRANKED up throughout the store. It was really eerie. Almost as if I was being brainwashed into buying some Roots gear - I held off but will probably buy some stuff later on :)

Ahh...Summer Olympics are usually a time of depression for Canadians...

So while I'm all for "GO CANADA GO!", I'll also throw in a "GO AUSSIES GO!"

WOW, i'm so surprised US beat Brazil (Womens Soccer). The brazilians were owning them in mid field. I mean COMPLETELY. Everytime the US had the ball and went into mid field, the Brazilians always overpowered and turned it into a threat to the US.

Watching US vs China Volley Ball. So far it looks like the Chinese are going to take it.

I'd rather watch paint dry than watch the Olympics. They're so boring. All I care about is basketball and baseball and America doesn't even have a baseball team in Athens. And the basketball team has been pretty sloppy. Athens = ratings poision.

Yup, but Katie and Costas had to ruin it with their horrible one-liners
Those are NBC people, right? I was watching it on CBC, so whoever those guys are I didn't have the 'luck' to listen to them :P

I was actually thinking, "I wonder if this is where the nudity happens, and if I'll be able to notice the edit." Then, "Holy hannah, she's GLOWING!"

I'm actually excited about the Ian Thorpe - Michael Phelps competitions. Being in Australia for a semester and seeing how excited they get about the "Thorpedo" has piqued my interest.

I'm going to enjoy the olympics for a few more years until the olympics become a big party for China. Although going by the medal counts, that seems to be what's happening now anyway.

Sometimes. I just let it run in the background.

Last night was Judo, and Japan got 2 Gold medals! Woohoo!
(And probably two of the few Golds we will ever get in the Olympics).

And women's volleyball too. Brazil kicked our arse though. Man those tall women.

I like watching Badminton, it's better if you have a friend who's watching it too (even if youre on AIM) and you both can discuss whats happenin :]

:( @ Japan losing to Britain in Badminton Mixed Doubles

I think that the Olympics are bullshit, for the most part. Probably 90% of the people watching would find these competitions boring as fuck if it didn't give them a chance to get hyped up into some nationalistic furor. Take away the medals that go to "countries" instead of athletes, and the whole thing would just be some late night crap on ESPN2 or Fox Sports. It basically just proves the theory that people can get into any type of sporting event so long as they have a "team" that they can passionately root for.

That said, I did watch the women's volleyball events today (both regular and beach volleyball). Those girls don't have the prettiest faces, but good lord their bodies are amazing. My favorite was the young lady with very short black hair, on the US women's team.....

Watching the Gymnastics is always compelling for me. The muscular arm physique and bodies are stunning. 'Triple side-flip-forward roll-double twists' are also fun to watch.

Yup! I'm watching Bravo right now and it says on the Info screen that badminton is one of the scheduled events.

I like watching women's (a.k.a. young girls) gymnastics. It satisfies the inner pedophile in me that's screaming for release. Can't wait until coverage starts. I love how an old guy is always one of the commentators. I think he's actually released his inner pedo.

Otherwise... I can watch diving, basketball, and projectile events (shooting, javelin, shotput, etc)... everything else is ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz.

speaking of feeling like a pedo...

A few months ago I worked at this 15-18 Jr Volleyball tournament...-_-Funniest thing was, this black cop (35+) I'm assuming comes up to me and was like "You know, 16 is legal" Just out of the blue. I turned around and I'm like ".....w...what?"

Damn though...The 18 yr old Finals was right in front of where I was standing....:O

*excuses himself*

Will be the same way in Beijing for 2008.

Personally I enjoyed watching table tennis, diving, and sadly watching the US team get served by China in volleyball.

Man, I really wanted to watch that. Are they going to replay it anytime?

The only events I really care about are ones like judo and wrestling. If they had MMA, I'd be all over that but I guess I'll take what I can get.

Judo is so crap to watch, its about as elegant as beating a giraffe with golf club.

I'll watch some of the athletics but the rest of the olympics is a joke.
