I'm predicting the way over-shuffling of the lines is going to hurt the Pens. Love seeing Roberts back, but I think the overhaul there shows a sense of desperation which isn't that warranted when it's only 1-0. Seems like Therrien is freaking out, and I think it's gonna Ronald Reagan its way down to the players. Prove me wrong, Pittsburgh. Please prove me wrong.

This is a really dumb statement. This is the playoffs, man. The Wings lost 2 games to the Preds, for christ sakes. Teams are going to have bad games. The Pens have way too much talent to get swept.

But whatever, if the Pens win the next game 4-1, GAF will get all reactionary again and say the Wings are fucked.
you bastard!

we gave the wings a run, 1-1 overtime game 5, had a shot in game 2 but had a goal taken away. we're the only team to give them a go, except for the stars coming on late. we shut down guys that are running wild on the rest of the league. if we had arnott and legwand, that may have been a different series. you underestimate the preds and i think the wings fans who actually watched the series would back me up on that, except for the 'lol hasek' comments

Yeah, I'm not quite sure how I feel about the line juggling right now either. Seems a little early to go into panic mode.

hopefully Roberts plays net game. He is going to be angry.

:lol

Yeah ok, Gary old man Roberts will actually bring something to the game when he hasn't been a playoff force in about what, 6-7 years? He'll most likely come out guns blazing and get injured in the first 2 minutes of the game. As a Leaf fan it saddens me to see this guy hanging on when he's got so little left to bring to the table.

You obviously did not watch the Ottawa series, where Roberts was responsible for setting the tone. He still plays hard when he is on the ice, and his presence alone is an asset to a young team like the Penguins.

That said, we may be boned tonight.

Roberts is said to skate on the 4th line, i am not sure how much of a presence a player can do playing 5 minutes a game but it would surprise me if he turned this series around.

Let's face it, it's either crosby, malkin or hossa that's gotta do it for penguins if they want to win.

No doubt about that, but Roberts can still stir some things up on the fourth line. I don't think Pens fans are looking to him to be a playoff Jesus, but to add some grit. Laraque has not been providing it lately, so he'll be sitting down.

Hossa and Crosby looked good in game 1. They just need to get a lucky bounce or two to get this team back on track. If they don't, the series is likely over.

I also think media's bashing of Malkin is unfair, they have really hung him out dry. I saw Don Cherry taking a pretty big shot at him, comon he has 19 points and is still fundamental for penguins success so far.

Well, Malkin didn't get his head taken off by Kronwall at least. That being said, he played like shit, but so did most of the team.

in between bbq's right now, but just wanted to stop in real quick and let you guys know that franzenstein is confirmed to be playing tonight.

Gary 3-goal season Roberts. Give it a rest already just like Roberts ailing body needs to.

Roberts was such a catalyst for the Ottawa series and a HUGE component to the team that they decided to sit his ass in the pressbox for game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. I guess management has already figured out what the fans can't see.

It would be a long shot but an action packed overtime pressure cooker would sure be sweet tonight. I don't care who wins, all I want is an awesome game.

Roberts has also missed a lot of games this post-season due to injury. Again, I think Pens fans realize how much trouble the team is in against Detroit right now, and we are looking at any positives we can get. Right now, Gary Roberts seems like a small, if unrealistic, beacon of hope.

Franzen coming back negates Roberts, and then some.

Fuck... Detroit looks scary out there with how dominating that left wing lock is that they are running.

They've been more impressive so far this period than in any other, even without goals or serious scoring chances. Just smothering the Pens.

And the Pen's continue to have NO ANSWER.

I expected them to lose (their D just isn't that great, regardless of how it was compensated for in the previous series) ... but crap ... I at least expected some offense from them.

We're going on 5 periods without a goal. The fuck?!!?

Yeah, despite not getting a goal that period, Pittsburgh definitely turned it up. I'm pretty nervous that you guys are gonna leap that hurdle in this next period.

wtf lilja

Lilja always has shit like that happen (see the Selanne goal in overtime last year).

That being said, I was proud to see the Pens get their first 5-on-5 shot at the 4:00 mark of the second period :lol

And yet they had 6 shots and 0 goals.
