Pens were dominated in the 2nd, penalties aren't helping their cause.

These biased pens refs are ruining my game :'(

Pens sloppy, maybe a little rusty even. But, most of their problems were/are correctable mistakes. The other issue is being able to solve Osgood, which at the moment they haven't been able to do. He was the difference for the Wings tonight IMO.

:lol Holy fucking shit! Can Sammuelsson be any fucking bigger of a pussy? Is it possible to make a more exaggerated dive than that and not get a call? :lol Fuck man you guys bitch about other players, what happened to little cry baby samuelsson?

Maybe only the second full wings game I've seen these playoffs, didn't think they were THIS good. The way they dominated possession thanks to great passing, checking, and faceoffs is something else

Not to take away from the red wings at all but penguins looked sloppy as shit tonight. Just bad decisions and seemingly half hearted efforts all around definately helped to accent red wings strengths but red wings really did play a solid well played game.

It's definitely going to be fun in Pittsburgh, seeing the panic set in among the fairweather Pens fans already. It's inevitable.

:lol I can hear the Steelers reporting starting already.

Oh please, the Flyers goal in game 7 against the Capitals was a legit goal. Thoreson made a legal body check which went into the goalie.

Also, we're forgetting a no goal call when Briere was clearly pushed into the goalie.

Being a Flyers fan isn't all bad. Haven't made the playoffs in all but 7 seasons or something. The Penguins didn't make the playoffs 7 or some straight seasons in a row. Same amount of Stanley Cups in the teams existence.

Wow, no shit talk from me. Detroit owned us from the 2nd period on (and I actually was really surprised the Holstrom goal was called back). Good game and domination for 3/4's of the game Detroit, I just hope the pens can rebound in game 2.

No one else is. Why would I?

so, highlight of the night? fleury's nosedive? bud lynch introducing "steven crosby"? babcock almost running onto the ice to kill the ref after another absolutely fucking ridiculous goaltender interference call? z corner snipe with 12 seconds left to add insult to injury?

too many to choose from. :lol

Wait when did that happen? I haven't seen that before.

Before the start of the game. The rest of the team eventually followed suit by tripping up in the 2nd period on.

I do think the Pens will play better. But until they crack Osgood for that first goal, they'll struggle.

I'm so pissed that I didn't get to watch this game. This blows ass.

So I have a question for those that watched this. Reading reports it looked pretty one-sided and I'm wondering if the Pens were just awestruck. I mean, that's a HUGE thing for a team of basically 23 year olds to be playing in the stanley cup finals, versus the Red Wings who are all old as dirt and used to this shit. Just wondering if that mattered at all.

I really hope this goes six or seven and the Wings win it. This could be great for hockey. And I'm so glad Detroit fans are FINALLY getting off of Osgood's back and giving him the credit he deserves. The guy has been one of the greatest hockey players to sport the Winged Wheel for years and is finally getting some love by Detroit. (Detroit sports fans suck ass, I know cuz 'm from there. I love my teams but msot complaints people have about Detroit sports fans are totally legit.)

The 1st was pretty even, but the Red Wings dominated the 2nd and 3rd.

That was definitely disappointing, if not slightly expected. I was pleased with how Fleury played for the most part, and I thought the Pens had some excellent pressure after Detroit popped in the second goal. If they can just play like that from the start of the game and keep their foot on the gas, this might turn into a series.

The Wings are damn good. Congrats to them for winning tonight. Here is hoping Sid and co. pick up the pieces and come out flying in game 2.

Seems like Therrien is going to whip these guys into shape by Monday. He's admitted this was the Pens' worst performance of the post-season and that they weren't competing like they have been in other games. Sid also commented on how they didn't move their feet this game. I'm anxious to see how they respond in game 2. C'mon boys...

You can clearly see him interfering the play, I mean - Holmstrom could have stopped the shot with his stick there.

edit
Audience facial expressions :lol What is the guy above Fleury's head doing

edit2
And Fleury closing his eyes may be a reason for why it went in.

HAY GUYS PITTSBURGH IN 6.

...So anyway, it bothered me that all the TSN guys and whoever else were picking Pittsburgh, because even as a Pens fan, I recognize Detroit as a scary-as-hell team. Case in point: Game 1. But it bothered me even more afterwards how they were all talking like they expected it.

Before the game:
Bob: I'm feeling the Penguins!
Pierre: Me too!
"Mad" Mike: I'm SO MAD and the Penguins are MAD for a CUP woooooo Pens in 6!

After game 1:
Bob: Well who HONESTLY expected the Penguins to win?
Pierre: We all knew Detroit would take game 1 and the cup, of course.
"Mad" Mike: GRRRAAWWWWWWWRR!

Clowns.

Scared as hell. I hope the Pens bounce back and take a split home to the Burgh.

He must have gone to the "Fight Through a Check Like Hossa" school of hockey. :lol

They weren't competing because the Wings are a FAR better team than the Pens have faced thus far. Seriously, if Osgood is even remotely average, the Pens don't have a chance.

Samuelsson's celebrations were epic yesterday:

Selanne's is still one of the greatest:
