Well in light of the fact that Bill Gates pre-show keynote address is in 30 minutes, I thought it's a good time to start collecting the required info to make a decent official thread.

Since this show encompasses a lot of non-gaming stuff, feel free to open threads in Off-Topic pertaining to CES that don't really follow the game stuff. However, I'll still do as best as I can to collect ALL CES info in this thread so that there's one source people at GAF can look through.

Visit the official CES WEBSITE.

THIS TIME, KEEP THE BRD VS HDDVD SHIT ELSEWHERE

Sony's CES website is opening tommorrow, you can visit what is currently up here. Their tagline is "entertaining the future."

Also, here is the press site: link.

Please please please don't expect much in the way of PS3, if at all. We'll be getting plenty of Blu-Ray stuff I wager and PS3 plays a role, but in terms of features, games, etc... don't expect anything. So if there actually is even one thing, it'll be neat instead of omg disasterton.

The whole integration bit was odd since they are getting destroyed by other companies in many areas.

Vista seems a little blah.
You expected different? I feel like since Balmer took over, that Windows has become really stagnant. I like Bill Gates. He's a total dork, but he has ambition and vision, and he seemed passionate. Vista is just more of the same. I'm really not impressed, and I'm dead set against buying this OS. If they ever manage to drop the memory footprint under 80MB or so, I'll bite.

I wish they'd start from a clean slate. Create a satellite company or something, and let them churn out a lightweight, high-performance OS. Layering new shit with legacy support up to the start of history is pretty lame. I guess the enterprise side of things would frown heavily on such an idea. PEACE.

So did they basically rip 3rd party software features like ACDSee or Idea's Sidebar into the new OS?

Yeah all these things can be done via outside programs and better. Its nice and all but i am feeling this is just a necessary upgrade. Hopefully it wont have security issues...
