Yeah it kind of sucks that Spurrier is no longer a coaching candidate for UF. Oh well. At least he doesn't have to worry about tarnishing his past success at UF, though with the talent currently at UF I'm willing to bet he would have had a nice season next year.

Now at least UF will end up with a coach who will likely be around for a while and provide some stability to the program. That is if the UF boosters and Foley and company give the next head coach time to do his thing. Hopefully we won't get a redux of how the whole Zook thing turned out. Give this coach more than 2 1/2 years and maybe he'll be able to get the program going in the right direction.

At least there's UF basketball to get excited about! :) Go BillyBall! :)

Edit: Petrino? What about Utah's head coach? Or California's head coach? There are some nice young coaches out there (what I woudn't give for USC's Norm Chow).

With Arkansas, Auburn, Tenneesse, LSU, and Georgia in the SEC, I think he knows no matter who ends up in Florida is going to have as hard a time or even harder than Zook...

maybe after that firing he'll be ok coming back...

I really wanted to see him go back...

Memphis has a good strategy in this game.... throw the ball really far on every play. It's like watching a game of Madden or NCAA.... only real!

You stay the hell away from Jeff Tedford! Bastard!

Trying to steal our coach when we're finally good again...

Oh don't worry ;-) Tedford has it good at California now that he's turned the program around and I'm not sure he'd want to move all the way from the West Coast to the East Coast. He's just someone that a lot of Gator fans have put on their wishlist but he's probably not likely to come to Gainesville. Hell, some people think UF still has a shot at getting Stoops who has already given an official statement that he's not interested. :p

what? what the heck is wrong with the stadium now?

I was there for when they fixed the turf.. is it just the turf or is there something inherently limiting about Memorial stadium (aside from the fact that it's built on a fault)?

That place is totally classic.. this hill, the banner.. it's already pretty huge.

I have the fondest memories of running the steps half way around the stadium almost every single day.. getting to the top and gazing out over the san francisco bay.. Awesome, awesome stadium.

edit: oh, and boo to spurrier pulling his name. boo.

Still trying to score big game tickets :(

Can't confirm if I can get work off so I don't want to plunk down 100 + with no guarantee.

I miss going through the tunnel :(

You picked South Carolina to lose. Therefore, I am happy with your choices.
Correction, he picked Arkansas to cover the spread. Since the Gamecocks won by 3, everyone wins!

Wisconsin up 21-0 in the 1st against Minnesota!

Oklahoma down 14-0 in the 1st!

We could have some huge BCS changes after today!

Bit of a crazy start to Cal / Oregon. Special teams must be driving Cal fans crazy, and Oregon is trying to attack them with onsides kicks and crazy pooch kicks. I expect to see Cal win, though.

Ginn's the MAN!

110m Hurdle National High School Champion last year. I hope he stays with track, but he's clearly a standout now.

I am very happy with A&M today. They gave OU all that they could handle. I thought that the Aggies would get rolled after what happened last week. If it wasn't for those 3 mistakes at beginning of the second half, they might have won the game.

Defensively they played pretty well in the second half. 2 of OU's TD came of turnovers, and OU started inside the Aggie 10. Looks like OU is gonna take the Big 12 South. I don't see them losing to Nebraska or Baylor.

Wow, crazy fog up at Oregon State. It's the Low Visibility Bowl! :lol

Well, it's probably a good thing that the game was only semi-visible because it more or less sucked. A nice catch by Byrd and a nice punt return by Bush, and everything else was pretty bad. It was fun hearing the announcers take wild guesses at what was happening on the field, though. 'Pass complete for 10 yards!' (ten seconds later) 'no, wait... incomplete pass.'

Was at the A&M game today, Jason White had an awesome game...

I was kind of suspect of how he'd do because many quarterbacks buck under pressure because of how loud Kyle Field is, it's ridiculous, and it's definitely had an effect on some quarterbacks earlier this year, especially when our defense pumps up the crowd...

While it was a loss for us, I commend OU for their performance, it was definitely a pleasure to see a world-class player like White in person...

Petersen was also good, but definitely struggled compared to weeks before...

My Pick 5 for the week. Any breakdown in my picks?

Couldn't have done too much worse huh.

I was at the Texas game today, and must say, one of the best days I have had at the stadium (coming a close second to Roy's last game against Tech last year). First, we had the biggest comeback in the history of UT football, and doing it in style by winning by 21 points. To top it off, the band played a tribute to Saturday morning cartoons and video games. They played the themes to Zelda, TMNT, and formed a Mario that jumped over a brick while playing the Theme and the underground music. Awesome day all around.

I'm so depressed. How is it possible to not only LOSE after leading 35-7, but get beat by three touchdowns? Alamo Bowl, here we come...

To put it lightly, your defensive coordinator sucks balls. He got wussy against the pass, and switched from a 4 3 defense to a nickel defense that was torn up by cedric. And you better score a lot of points in the first half against our defense, because I think our defensive coordinater gives the best half time speeches of all time to always shut down the second half in our favor.

Ahhh, I'm loving this year's South Carolina team. We're already bowl eligible, our offense is finally getting opened up, and we have a freshman DB with 5 picks on the year so far. Things are finally starting to click. :)

Makes me forget about the Skins and the Panthers this season, too.

Welcome to the ACC, bitches! Duke and South Carolina, you bitches are next!
Uhhh... congratulations on the win and all, but that's the same Clemson team that started 1-4.

And have since won 4 straight. But I can understand you skepticism. However, I've come up with a formula that proves it takes 4 Clemson losses each season for Tommy Bowden to remember that he's a football coach and that he actually needs to start doing his job. It happened last year and again it's happening this year. Plus Merriweather has really started coming into his own as a starting back. I really believe we can win out the rest of the season on our way to the Tire Bowl, which, coincidently is in my backyard.

:lol Hey man, I'll buy that theory. Apparently the folks who made CU's schedule this season thought the same way. You may actually be selling Clemson short by saying the Tire Bowl; Miami and GT are ahead of you guys in the ACC and both have to play UVA, and I'd take UVA in both of those games. GT has to play against Georgia, too, so depending on how the rest of the conference plays out, just a win over Duke may be good for better than Charlotte. (Maybe not better for you, but.. you know)

As for me, I'm looking at a trip to Nashville at the least, Atlanta with one win, and beautiful sunny Florida with one or two wins. South Carolina will probably be nearly empty in late December.

Hey, I got friends in Atlanta, and I had a blast when I went to the Peach Bowl last year. If we somehow get another Peach Bowl bid, I'll be ecstatic.

I'm kind of hoping Auburn and Oklahoma lose at some point so Cal can go to the national championship and then there be a shitload of controversy because two undefeated teams got snubbed by this "great" system.

Words cannot describe how much I hate Jeff Bowden's play calling. Who the fuck calls a run on 3rd and 23 at your own 5? Fucking christ. This game is horrible.

The new mantra on campus goes like this: "SEND JEFF TO UF!"

i see plenty of teams call a run in that situation. Try and give your punter some room out of his own endzone.

First tragedy, then farce.
Jesus Christ, Texas is going to give me a heart attack..

I also think Ive developd an unhealthy mancrush on DJ.

Notre Dame is a funny team. Start out the year by losing to BYU... then beat Michigan the next week. Go on the road and beat Tennessee.... come back home and lose to Pitt. That's funny.

Haha, the Pitt QB dropped the f-bomb in his post game interview... Good for him.

I hate Auburn, but those pricks deserve to play for the national championship this year. They've embarassed every top 10 team they played, with the exception of LSU. If they don't wind up #1 or #2 by the end of the season, it will be I crime.
