Man, anyone know why my battery status would say this? I haven't really had any issues with my battery, so I'm kinda confused. I guess I haven't taken good care of it (185 cycles / ~2:45 battery life), but it seems alright...

Before I start, has anyone else on GAF done a clean install for OS X 10.6?

I just ran Geekbench and it went from a previous high of 2858 to 2996, and that was on the 32-bit version. My most recent score (done on 10.5.5) was only 2779.
How the fuck do I activate it?? CTRL+Shift+Space won't work...mrkgoo said:Lol, anyone play around with the kanji character input?
It's pretty neat. Once on, your mouse pointer is off and you make strokes. The edges of the trackpad become touch buttons. I wonder if the touch buttons can be used in future?
Yeah, yours seems about right. Mine's a first-gen Core 2 Duo MBP (2.16GHz) with 2GB of RAM so I'd expect it to be lower.Mecha_Infantry said:I just tested mine now with lots of apps running in the background, running decent speeds I think? Would had tried with the 64-bit if you didn't have to pay :|

My battery isn't in the best shape from all the constant use and cycling and leaving it on all the time.Mecha_Infantry said:Hey dude since our macbooks are about the same age, how is your battery doing? I'm worrying right now as mine is doing a max of about 2.15 hours :O

I can get probably get 1.5 hours off the plug on a good day.
I've played games on this thing pretty heavily so I've put it through the paces for sure.Mecha_Infantry said:This is what I do most times and I think I need to stop. I have it charging for most of the time and rarely have it off the plug (as I am not home most of the time, I want to come back to a full battery)
I guess I should let the battery work a little bit!
Safari still doesn't handle gifs perfectly, but they don't seem to be crashing the browser anymore.Mecha_Infantry said:*edit2: .gifs are still fucking up in Safari for me. Take a look at my av; I get terrible pixilation around the areas that MJ isn't dancing, then it suddenly disappears. I don't want to go back to FF![]()
Damn, that does look awful...Mecha_Infantry said:gifs are still fucking up in Safari for me. Take a look at my av; I get terrible pixilation around the areas that MJ isn't dancing, then it suddenly disappears. I don't want to go back to FF![]()
Get this: http://ps3mediaserver.googlecode.com/files/pms-macosx-1.10.5.dmgMecha_Infantry said:Also I don't think I should have jumped to upgrading so quickly. At the moment my 2 most used apps (MediaLink streamer to PS3 and iStat) aren't working in 10.6.

Works like a charm. But keep in mind, if you are using Parallels, you need to turn off the "Parallels Host-Only Networking Adapter" & "Parallels Shared Networking Adapter", otherwise the app won't find your PS3.
As for iStat, a 10.6.X Version is coming pretty soon. I need it too, but it's not such a big deal to wait a few days to be honest.
Yeah, I've tested it some hours ago and it works just fine. You just shouldn't be connected to another network, thats why I mentioned Parallels before. Check your Network settings.Mecha_Infantry said:Doesn't work for me! Are you using it currently? It sys it can't find my PS3 even though MediaLink can find it, it just share files

Also, great news on the Glims front (via their facebook):
Before the weekend, we thought it would be a great idea to update everyone on the status of Glims for Snow Leopard (including 64bit). After two long weeks, most of the issues are solved, it works nicefully, and our plan is to provide a dev build link to the fan page sometime next week.
I've found it more stable and less shittastic than before Snow Leopard, personally. Don't know why.quadriplegicjon said:anone else having issues with firefox?
it seems to be starting up slower.. and it freezes/crashes way more often.

I've definitely noticed it with startup times. Leopard had been getting a bit sluggish in that respect, with a bit of beachballing and occasional delays on it loading in one of the menu bar, dock or desktop icons. Now there's no beachball and it all appears right away as soon as the desktop background loads in.Blu_LED said:Jesus Christ, the start up and shut down are stupid fast now.
It won't let me use those options with the Apple keyboard. Those are assigned to the volume controls.giga said:
For what it is worth I did the regular install on my MBP from Tiger and the installation went flawlessly. It took 50 minutes and another 40 minutes to install iLife 09 and every program I had except for Sherlock worked right when I turned it on.layzie1989 said:i'm doing a clean install on my friends mbp from tiger

I did that already. That then makes my keyboard functions unavailable. If I turn them off and then on again to just have the input command that goes away as well.quadriplegicjon said:under: 'Keyboard & Mouse' -> 'Keyboard' check off 'Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys'
try that.
scola said:I got it yesterday but I am not installing because I doubt adobe CS2 will work as a ppc binary. This 30 dollar upgrade just got a whole lot more expensive :lol
Yeah, like I said before without the Logitech drivers it will allow me to assign it, with the drivers it will not.panda21 said:cant you just set it to a mouse button in the menu thats next to F9..
you have to guess which it is (they are numbered mouse button up to 8 or something) but it works on my crappy logitech mouse without any drivers.
Cool thanks. Will probably install later today then.LCfiner said:it still works but is not officially supported. SL still contains Rosetta for running PPC apps.

Adobe Creative Suite 2

OK
PPC Only Binary. Launches under Rosetta. Applications appear to work, but there may be some glitches.

quadriplegicjon said:Make sure to add Rosetta in the Customize menu when installing. For some reason, the default has it off.
Remove the F9 keyboard shortcut in expose prefs first. Assign F9 in LCC. Put F9 back in expose prefs.SanjuroTsubaki said:It won't let me use those options with the Apple keyboard. Those are assigned to the volume controls.
I know! Isn't it great? How did they manage to pull it off?Blu_LED said:Jesus Christ, the start up and shut down are stupid fast now.

Edit: Just noticed you can activate it only if you add chinese. Thought this go as well for japanese characters.
