Boo! I want to upgrade, but my printer isn't supported by 10.6 and Samsung hasn't released the new driver yet. Grrr. Anyone else stuck waiting?
Fuck Adblock Plus, use Glimmer Blocker + Safari.The_Inquisitor said:Safari 4 seems to be much faster than FF3.5 now. If it weren't for noscript and ABP, I might consider switching.

Sadly the Grapple themes don't play nice with my custom CSS for the UI I made. I'd have to play around with it to make it look right again. I like the buttons really since it makes better use of the space. My only problem is I don't know how to make the icons show up since the theme hides them. I hate that. I use the icons to tell what tab is what. I assume CSS could bring it back. But I don't know the structure of the XUL.LCfiner said:The GrApple Tangy theme is the one I found closest to Safari. (well, 3.0) quite nice.
yeah, I like the auto text correction stuff too much in safari to leave it but Firefox isnt quite as shitty a Mac citizen as it once was
Its startup time is still horrible, though

Flying_Phoenix said:So yeah called Apple today and they said that my "Snow Leopard" order just shipped today.
In other news it turns out that I'm saying "fuck it" to Windows in general. I was trying to install XP Home Edition SP2 (via Bootcamp) but its just wasn't working out, and really don't see too much of a need for it. I'm just about to cancel my pre-order of Windows 7.
Jill Sandwich said:Holy crap at the Ars Technica review! I read all 23 pages. This guy knows his stuff and nobody else has mentioned just how much more there is going on under the surface. Puts other reviews to shame!
giga said:Thoroughly enjoying the Ars review. In several ways, it makes 10.6 seem like a much bigger release than 10.4/10.5 due to all the under hood transitions Apple has done. (or is continuing to do)
Ashhong said:eh? i havent had any troubles installing XP or even the initial install of 7. what issues are u having
Yeah, the ones in the Tabs. I'm sure it's just a matter of overriding the code in the style that hides them in the first place. I'll look over your code and see if I can get them to show up. Because I like the Safari themes, just hate not having icons.Killthee said:The Favicons in the tab bar?
I don't remember which specific line did the trick for me, but I'm sure you can figure it out. Here's my userChrome.css:

Flying_Phoenix said:This is what I was thinking after reading some of that review. It is the whole "300 new features" approach, just to the developers.
After going through BootCamp and installing Windows:
Windows gets done installing than restarts. Than a black screen comes on and gray words say "Press any Key to Boot From CD" I press any key after putting in the CD than I get "Press any key to restart" then it freezes.
When I start if off with the CD in there it just reinstalls from square one.
I was thinking of how to fix it then I was like fuck it.

Hit the hotkeys. And if your mouse has many buttons, binding a couple to Exposé is pure workflow heaven.HowellJenkins said:Just got my macbook pro. Really awesome... Just figuring out how to do things. Totally used to Windows so... I don't understand how to do Expose.

Ashhong said:your issue definitely seems like a bug. i say this because the white font inside of it is also messed up, so you know its not just a label issue. is it ONLY the firefox icon that has this problem? or is it all blue that looks purple?
Slurpy said:So been running SL for a few weeks now, and its probably the most polished and stable x.0 release Ive ever used. It seems more stable than 10.5.8, which is amazing in itself. Its also eliminated 90% of my major annoyances with Leopard, which is impressive. Still noticing small changes/tweaks/animations everyday.
julls said:is there any way to override Safari's default of downloading to a single folder?
i like how firefox asks where to save particular files, i don't liek them going to the same one every time.

Seriously, I think one of the biggest moments of making something awesome and then screwing it up that Apple has done in recent memory was making that style of search results and then killing them. I understand why the way those results were given to the user was broken, but fine - build that shit into the Finder. Search results now are nowhere near as useful or organized as they were in 10.4.
yeah, I liked that mystery meat window. it was different, yes, but useful. if only they had kept it along for 10.5 and 10.6 with the blazing spotlight speed increases we got.

Burger said:I'm stuck waiting for new scanner drivers. It's weird, the only time I have ever scanned slides (I don't expect many people to even know what these are) and now I can't finish them. Image Capture works with the scanner, but it can't automatically scan x4 35mm slides in one go and automatically save them out as jpegs. The scanner software was brilliant in this regard.
Canon did reply to my email almost immediately and say "2 to 3 weeks" though.
mrkgoo said:I really liked that. Spotlight in the finder in 10.5 was considerably less useful.
Fortunately, just using spotlight int eh menubar is sufficient for 95% of searches. I only wish there were a "right-click -> Go to folder".
goodcow said:I should buy a Canon printer.
10.5 didn't even support my HP one. It's a 1020. Instead I have to use hacked 1022 drivers that work fine. I hope that still works in 10.6.
LCfiner said:you know about the CMD-click to open in the folder, right? I assume you'd just prefer to not have to use the keyboard and mouse for that functionality.
mrkgoo said:Hmm. I'm all kinds of retarded, but I guess it goes to shows there's something new to learn about OSX every day :loll (<-also funny how auto correcting makes it loll).
I often just want to know the path - and I did at least know highlighting the file eventually pops up a path, but I hated waiting for that. Thanks!
LCfiner said:Bam! There ya go! :lol
I gotta admit, i was hesitant to bring that up.

agreed. I think the general spotlight search is unusable now. too many results, even after I spend time limiting themshidoshi said:Except, unfortunately, THIS was the superior and indispensable Spotlight:
