Official Madden '16 PS4 Online league thread #2: Blink Daggers and Backflips

I liked a bit of what Taylor showed me against Phee last night. Sure, I lost 27-3, but it's my first online game of Madden (and football) in years, and I'm lagging way behind in the curve on kick input lag (could have ended up 24-6 instead!) and the "tricks of the trade" everyone else already has.
Taylor had some nice "zip" on the ball, and seemed to throw the inside seams very well. Was a bit off on one red zone attempt into the endzone (while rolling to the right). Did have 2 or 3 deep heaves that went way off and out of bounds. Think I only got one decent scramble, and 2 or 3 dumb ones. Geez, pass rushers can vacuum in on runners from 3 yards away.
I know 17 points given away were just bad playing. Finding out Hook Routes can be bad ended up as a 90 yard Pick 6; press coverage can be beat, even on a 99 rated CB; and don't let kick lag result in a 10 yard punt while on your own 20.
Think I had what I'd consider 3 good, actual drives, that ended in a pick 6, a FG and a WTF Kick missed FG by miles because of, I guess, kick lag or user failure.
Thankfully, Matt Ryan and Dwayne Bowe are 1 year contracts. Ryan had both interceptions, leaving Chris Taylor clean in that department, and found Bowe's 74 speed to be funny in practice mode. All they apparently are good for, is increasing my team's OVR rating, and using up some of this ample cap space.
Did have 1 disconnect the finished game. Think we got to the 2nd quarter, with only a pick 6 by a Bronco AI player being the scoring. That game was hitchy as hell, and the finished game was mostly better with some occasional hiccup. Did hit a nice pass over a Cover 2, in the window between the CB and Safety. I remember those passes were always my favorite to complete, though kind of hard to do.
I remember in past editions there would be a penalty, but it would show up in the kicking stats on the depth chart. Right now my punter has better power, accuracy and overall on the kicking depth chart than my kicker does. But I could see all that not meaning shit in game because, ya know, Madden.
So change your depth chart and go practice.
Yep, that and the kapkan glitch were fixed.
Oh, anyone know what is a good 4-3 defensive playbook? The players already on the team were in the process of being turned into a 4-3 from a 3-4, and I feel I have better DE/DT than LB's. Found out that Denver's base Defense is 3-4 in the 1st game attempt, and swapped to the generic 4-3 playbook rather than any teams specific 4-3 playbook.

There was but it was a "limited" edition that sold out in a few hours.

If you run a decent amount the Arizona book has some beautiful route combos but a lot of them are in play action.
Eagles book is the classically abused one. New England and New Orleans were the other go-tos at one point. Miami has some similarities to Philly's but without the 2-back sets.
New England is great for passing, but I haven't found it to be the best playbook for running.
Hm maybe I'll give Arizona and Philly a run, I have multiple decent backs now so a 2-back set would be fun.

Landrum had his MVP season with the Pats playbook, and Poppy his 1800 yard rushing season with Seattle.
Eagles one is good for misdirection because a lot of plays start out looking the same way. One of the two back sets has a Mtn swing, Mtn swing inside zone, Mtn Swing cross screen, Mtn Swing to TE screen, and Mtn swing PA that all look the exact same, I believe. Can be tough to defend.

A guy I signed as a FA with normal development after season 1 is now finally decent enough to be a starting nickel corner 3 seasons later. And this is a guy I actually devoted time to playing the mini game to get extra XP for.
Yeeeah.
Yeah there was some $80 limited edition that was impossible to get.

Cobb, Jordy and Clay are all up for re-signing... Jordy may go FA!
In fact I'm willing to take discussion on Clay if someone is interested in him. Looking for younger/faster LB's, a stronger run blocking LT and/or draft picks.

Just cause a I saw a lot of dudes talking about him during the draft, I signed Thomas Thomas.

Some of these other playbooks seem awesome but im always afraid to switch during a season, not having any sense or flow to your playcalling can really mess up the tempo
I'm pretty sure it includes the post-game DLC campaign, called Revelation, that's $20.

To be honest, if I work on his carry he will turn into a decent back. He's not mind blowing or anything, but he can turn into a good player.

Of course the Rams/LJ can grab a QB in the 5th that is pretty good (and "star" development).
The Bae RB, for all those green marks, doesn't appear to be an outstanding back, just a good one like a few others in the draft.
Dear God, look at those OLB's. For what it's worth, the top 5 OVR rated rookies are OLB's, and 9 of the top 11 (a kicker and a HB are the other 2).

Brehs have been using Eagles PB all franchise with not a fuk to give,and it's far more egregious than Pats. Use whatever you want.
