RUMORS FLY THAT SEYMOUR WILL MISS THE SEASON

A league source tells us that there are rumors on the NFL grapevine that Patriots defensive end Richard Seymour will miss the entire 2007 season.

Per the source, the talk is that offseason surgery on Seymour's left knee resulted in some significant complications.

Seymour is on the Physically Unable to Perform list, and by rule must stay there for at least six weeks of the regular season.

The procedure was described as arthroscopic, which is minimally invasive in nature. The type of complication currently is unknown.

Nope it's new. Okoye, Adrian Peterson, Ryan Kalil, Ted Ginn.

I really want to see this now, I heard he was getting the cold shoulder from everyone when he got down there.

Why Fox would opt to air Bolts-Bears in the nation's second largest media market over Raiders-Lions is simply beyond me.

huh? I read that like 5 times and it still doesn't make sense.

Awesome article on SI about what its like to get cut, written by Ross Tucker.

I knew instantly what was happening when my cell phone vibrated and I pulled it out of my pocket.

"703"

The only number I know with a 703 area code is the offices of the Washington Redskins. So when I saw the "703," I got sick to my stomach. It took my breath away, literally. I got the call last Monday at 5:30 p.m., while waiting to pay for my sandwich at a Subway restaurant in Ashburn, Va. I didn't answer the call because I was about to pay, and besides, I already knew what the phone call meant. I can only imagine how pale my face looked as I paid for my sub and walked out.

Rest of it is here.

In more Redskins news:

"So who will be this season's New York Jets or New Orleans Saints? If I knew that, I'd be at a sportsbook in Vegas emptying my pockets right now. No one knows for sure (that's what makes it a surprise), but I can give you a general idea of who that team will be this season.

They have a Hall of Fame head coach, a great offensive coordinator, and one of the NFL's best running backs. That's right, i'm talking about the Washington Redskins.

When the Redskins are walking down that tunnel in January, getting ready to host that playoff game, just remember the one who told you it would come to pass.
"

:D :D :D :D

Edit: That really is an awesome article Duce, thanks for posting it.

I think they had all those last year too....

Awesome video of Calvin Johnson. The more football season comes, the more and more I absolutely love this guy. God I hope the Lions don't destroy his career.

Look how big he is compared to Deion.

Anyways, anybody know if the Lions/Raiders game will be on Sopcast? I'm in Chicago and need to see my Lions!

Clinton Portis is a top RB?

Of course he is. He set our single season rushing record. He put the team on his back in 2005 and got us into the playoffs. He had a helluva career and Denver, came to Washington and was able to transition into a different style of running. Sure you can look at the stats and say he's taken a step back from Denver but you MUST also look at the system he was in. You must also look at who the hell was his QB. MB can't throw for more than 2 yards, Portis consistently had 8 men in the box.

Betts? :lol Bull shit.... He hadn't done a damn thing until Saunders came here. Saunders instilled the same offense that made Priest and LJ. And then bam, Betts is all of a sudden a star? Hell no, it's the system. And now that Portis is healthy after being out in 2005, he'll tear it up just like Priest, LJ and Betts. But Portis has been good wherever he has been (not a knock on Priest of LJ)

Also, when did Betts start to go off? Betts started going off when they sat Marks old ass down. When Jason stepped on the scene defense said...oh crap we have to defend more than the line of scrimmage and they had to fall back a bit. What did 10+ yard passes do? Unclogged the running lanes.

Betts also coughs up the ball a LOT. At least 5 fumbles last year I think? I like Betts, he seems to be a great team guy and seems to be content playing his part however little or big it may be year in/year out. And I think both of them in the backfield will provide for some great new looks for our offense and hopefully open up lots of new scoring opportunities for an average WR corps.

But despite the fact that Betts hits the hole well, whenever he gets an opening that Portis would take for a huge gain, he seems to keep running as if he was holding down Right Bumper--except it still doesn't stop him from fumbling!

Hey, maybe EA really did get it right in Madden 08? :lol

I love Betts, him and a hopefully healthy Portis (along with Campbell) are why you guys are going to make the playoffs. It's going to come down to the Eagles and the Skins for the division. The looser will almost definitely get in on the Wild Card.

Football, football. I have to manage to see the 49ers play on Monday Night, or I might not see them again this year. Stupid CTV. Lions vs. Raiders is all you could manage for week 1?

Open Letter From TO to Fantasy Owners: "Draft Me"

http://sports.espn.go.com/fantasy/football/ffl/story?id=3004850

"Did you see the preseason game against Houston? One touch, one touchdown. That's how it's going to be all year long. I'm aiming for 100 catches, 1,500 yards and at least 20 touchdowns. With our quarterback passing the ball, this is entirely possible. "

:lol I love it!

TO, Romo and CJ led my team to the playoffs last season. Who's got TO in the GAF league(s)?

The Skins are loaded on offense, it's just two factors that can cause an issue. How long does it take the LG to learn the offense and how quickly the offense gains a rhythm. Portis and Betts are proven. Cooley and Moss are proven but defense will have a hard way to go with a QB that will stretch the field. I think for the 1st time we have a QB that can consistently take advantage of Moss's speed.

Cooley also has a revised role this year in the mold of T. Gonzalez. Is he as good as Tony, nobody is. But he's a helluva TE that is being used more as a vertical threat than in years past.

Hell ya, Cooley is amazing. I wish the Eagles had him.

I don't know why I feel bipolar about the bengals' offense. They're going to be awesome this year, but I guess I'm worried that they aren't going to have a big playbook with a lot of different plays. Just lots of no huddle and tosses to Chad and TJ (though I think Chad is going to have by far one of the best seasons ever for a WR this year). They'll probably be better on week 10 when Chris Henry gets back, unless he fucks up and gets arrested again. Oh right, now I remember: I was all hyped for Kenny Irons to kick ass since he's an Auburn back, and then he blew his ACL in the first preseason game.

And since I didn't see it posted here: www.trashtalk85.com

Apparently this year you can vote on his Who Covered 85? list.

Can I get your opinion on JJ Outlaw, I saw you guys released him. I know him personally, was he a bum? :lol

He didn't play especially well in the preseason, but I don't think he ever had a chance to make the team to begin with. The Eagles were dead set on keeping the obvious Brown and Curtis along with Avant and Baskett whom they really like. The only real open spot was for the fifth receiver and Greg Lewis won that. JJ Outlaw is almost definitely good enough to fill in as a 4th or 5th receiver but the Eagles kept Lewis because they know him well enough and trust him.

Three questions:

1) Anyone see the excerpt in Tiki's book where for the 100th time he states he still would be a Giant if not for Coughlin being resigned?
2) What are "confidence points" in the Yahoo FFL?
3) What's the O/U for yards gained for Brandon Jacobs against the Boys? I think assuming 20 carries, a 65 line and the under is fair.

1) Excerpt itself not released until later
2) How much confidence you have in your pick, basically so you rate your locks higher than your iffies
3) Who cares?

I got him by auto-drafting in my GAF league.

The piece was in the Post, you can find it on their website nypost.com. As for the Jacobs thing, obviously I do if I asked the question lol.

The thing about Jacobs is his yardage is going to depend on how many carries they give Droughns. If Jacobs gets his 20 I could see him getting around 75-80 yards and a score.

1) Already discussed.
2) What Tamanon said
3) I'll take the over and guess 85-95 yards if 20 carries. Basically I'll call it at 4.0-4.5 YPC

oh yeah. I hope the Raiders win, even if I picked against them (it's just because of Calvin Johnson and John Kitna, I swear), and I especially hope they beat the absolute shit out of Brady Maxwell if he's starting by the time they play the Browns. I think I gave that game 1 confidence point just because it's pretty much a toss-up.

also, if the Raiders win more games, it means we get more high-five posts, and that's only a good thing.
