5+ million for McCabe, Kubina each...I hadn't realize how awful these signings were until I saw the rest of the salaries.

So the Leafs have about 10 million to spare...which players do you think may sign with them other than the rumored Smyth?

Did Stortini really get the MVP?

Him and Brodziak...they're both gonna kick ass! The term Powerforwards do them no justice. Uberforward is more like it!

Carlton the Bear is an UFA and is reportedly going to get $7M...the other $3M will go to Yashin...

Alright guys, time for the annual 'Guess the Predators 07-08 average paid attendance.' Closest gets two tickets to a Predators home game of their choice and a round of beer on me :D 14,000 is the magic number. 13,815 last year. WHAT WILL IT BE?!

Raycroft for Vezina next season?:

The most interesting call could be in goal, where coach Paul Maurice had indicated he would like the hot-and-cold Andrew Raycroft to play 65 to 70 games again, while Ferguson has spoken of bringing in a veteran to both spell off Raycroft and push him for the No. 1 job. Ferguson says that doesn't mean UFA Jean-Sebastien Aubin is through here, but it's likely the GM won't extend the $525,000 one-way deal he had last year.

"We want to be better at that position, but at the same time, Andrew has made a strong commitment this off-season (to conditioning and technical improvements)," Ferguson said. "J.S. would give us a strong tandem again."

Wait you mean 07-08 right?

Or are we guessing their Hamilton numbers?

Totally irrelevant but why is it always Ottawa Sens? Are you a Cole fan? SENATORS! :p

And it's "penguins," I'm not sure of any team in the NHL named after stationaries.

Dammit, my secret shame exposed! :-(

Hey, that was a lot of typing since the copy/paste wouldn't list the team names, I was getting tired!

Well, thanks for the effort anyways. ;) Just an odd observation on my part. I usually don't watch drafts as I don't know any of the prospects. But I usually like to see what team got what.

Holy shit at Oilers getting 3 in the first round! O.o

I hope the Ducks can draft Jonathon Blum. It'd be a nice fluff piece for a team in a non-traditional market to draft a kid that was born and began playing hockey in... the same non-traditional market.

Plus I hear he isn't too bad a player. :lol

Like the Preds did with Blake Geoffrion last year, they made a documentary and everything!

RUMOUR

McCabe would waive his no movement clause to go to the Isles
Redden would do the same to go to Edmonton or Calgary (I think)

From Sportsnet

So its BS

damn you're right. it must have been a media hoax to get more ticket holders.. i don't think it worked :(

The Toronto Maple Leafs have agreed to a one-year deal with captain Mats Sundin for $5.5 million. It includes a no-trade clause.

An offical announcement is expected later today.

TSN reported on Monday that the Leafs would have been happy to sign a longer deal, but Sundin pushed for a shorter one.

Sundin's salary cap figure last season was $6.3 million, so Toronto receives a significant savings with this deal. It also gives the Leafs more flexibility beyond 2008 in case Sundin retires after the coming season.

This should rob the leafs for a trade at deadline date in March should they not be a competative team once again.

Trade Hemsky for a 3rd round draft pick to a division rival.

Hey, it'll take everybody's mind off the Smyth trade...

I'm making NHL themed cars in Forza 2, and I started with the easiest logo I know.

So I'll use that as a template and do most NHL Teams. I'll start from the easy and then get to the complicated ones.

If any GAFers want them I'll gift them to ya.

Parros nation lives!

The Anaheim Ducks inked left-winger Travis Moen and enforcer George Parros to two-year contract extensions on Tuesday.

Both players, who are now under contract through the end of the 2008-09 NHL season, were set to become unrestricted free agents on July 1.

Moen, 25, was one of Anaheim's best players in this year's playoffs after registering 10 goals and 21 points for the Ducks in the regular season.

The native of Stewart Valley, Sask., played in all 21 post-season games for the Stanley Cup champions and finished with seven goals and five assists. Moen scored three goals in the five-game championship series against the Ottawa Senators.

Parros, 27, had one goal and a team-leading 102 penalty minutes in 34 games during the regular season, and played in five post-season games.

Signing......cmon MLSE just let him go its time to rebuild.
Hey, it's not the worst thing that could have happened. I bet if Sundin hadn't specifically asked for a cheaper, 1-year contract, they would have held a gun to his head and forced him to sign a 3-year 6mil+ deal.
