In the
mansion I cannot find one of the disc thingys I need for the garden area. I have the one from doing the clock-like puzzle at the top of the stairs and the one on the floor at the end of one of the hallways.
Where's the last one?

There's 1 in a chest in each of the rooms next to the clock (in the past world). 1 in the room on the right of the mansion, and one in the room on the left, where you need to push a statue in the past to access it in the present.

I'm pretty sure that's accurate.

I know I asked this before, but I never got an answer. How much damage will your characters usually do with each hit at endgame levels?

From 2k damage without ring up to ~16k with ring was my personal range at the end.

Thanks! Ended up ordering in, I'm just starting disc 4 and she is on the last chapter of Professor Layton. God, we are the coolest.

Good call. Ordering food to your house while lounging around with your SO is infinitely better than going out to dinner.

at least his girl plays Professor Layton. and he's playing Lost Odyssey. Man, if they had kids, they'd have spectacular taste

I just finished reading the first "dream" and it was incredibly sad. Is the rest of this story this sad? I hope I am not going to be a weepy little bitch playing this game, but that was the saddest thing I've seen in a game.

*edit*

Nevermind. I just finished reading the second dream and it was equally as sad. These sequences are just beautiful with the ambient music, colors, and word presentation to make it a very moving experience. I have only played this game for about an hour, but I am already hooked into the story as it is the most moving in a game that I've played. Beautiful

So the final treasure on the treasure list is called Sarah's Gift, and it says it's in the mansion courtyard. But when I go there, the magic field detector doesn't show me where it is on the map and I can't find it after running around and hitting A the whole time. Anyone know what's up?

Gee, it sure is cold on those train tracks, huh, Cooke? Are you just now realizing that a hooker miniskirt is not the best outfit for an epic adventure? I'm sure I'm gonna run into the most impractically dressed queen up ahead, as well. :lol

Get back to us when you finish disc 1. You'll be bawlin' like Chad Warden.

[edit] Oh Jesus, Jansen & Ming music video. I swear this game perpetually fluctuates between greatest thing ever & totally cheesy.

I just finished the game. I have to admit, I didn't appreciate the game lying to me twice by telling me that two areas were the final dungeon when in fact they weren't.

I just got past the
death and funeral of Lirum.
jesus christ I cried
when mack and cooke were crying out for her to not die and Kaim struggling to come to terms with her lost daughter before she dies
;_;

I've played like an hour so far.

This game is fucking awesome. That first dream sequence was absurdly well done. Like, seriously.

Is there some way to turn off the ring system thing? I really don't want to do anything other than press a button every now and then to kill shit.

Hmmm. There's been treasure chests I haven't been able to get (namely Crimson Forrest). Are those for disc 4 plus? as I have no clue how to get up to some of the spots. I just went along and I just finished the north cave.

Just beat Disc 1 at Level 19 for all of my characters. I've had to try twice on every boss except for the first one. Lol, I killed
Mack
, seriously I had no idea WTF I saw supposed to do. The monsters in the Crimson Forest were hard as fuck, while the boss was weak sauce.

Also, Mack and Cooke will be the most likable child characters in a JRPG ever they keep their current attitudes up.

Yeah. Dont equip rings. But you're doing a pretty big disservice to yourself. Rings help out in combat more than you'd think. Especially once you get Pickpocket ring.

Well the only chests I know of in the Crimson Forest that look unreachable, are actually reachable after
you get spirit magic for Mack, then activate that little tablet thing
.

Also on the Mack hostage crisis, Jansen does say "Maybe we could knock him out" so thats a clue.

Meh, I suck at teh hints.

Actually that might not have helped out much either way, the game was being an ass about making Mack take some z's so I had to kill him either way. Second fight though, he went to sleep first cast. :lol

i was just wondering...

why didn't they use BD's charge system for the magic here? i mean, you have a ring system for normal attacks so why not this for the magic? would have been totally awesome.

*goes back to fighting the 2nd boss*

To the people that are towards the end or have finished it, do the Double X abilities work like Factual Analysis in that one person having it works for the whole group, or do I have to have it equipped on every person I want it to work for?

(Disc 4 help) Where am I supposed to go after I get the stone that allows the Nautilus to go through the storm barriers? Not too interested in side quests at the moment.

You mean Double SP/Gold/XP etc? Only one person needs it.

You're not even at the sad part yet, soon you are going to be crying tears of infinite sadness.

The best part of the boss fight was when Jansen makes a comment something along the lines of
"oh no puberty" when he sees Mack possessed
. I totally lost it. :lol

Well your detector has 3 levels to it, so if its still level 1 or 2 you may have to get it up to 3 before it shows up. Some treasures require it to be at higher level.

One person with an enemy stat view ability = works for whole party.

How do I go about upgrading it?

Did you look for it in the right place? It didn't show up for me when I did the quest too and it took me away to find out. Best option is to enable rumble, run around, and once controller shakes, that's the spot. To find it,
when you enter the courtyard, run toward the stairs leading down, but don't go down to next area. Turn right, it should be over there by the along the bushes.

Finished 2nd disc, the last scene was nice and full of tension but oh my at
Gongora´s laughing on the ship, so cheessy xD

Btw, talking in that scene about Seth´s past is a bit of a mistake as they talk about something only told in the dreams and should have been exposed in the game more explicitly like Kaims flashback.

Would Like to know too, and what are the names of those items?

I think the dream from the preorder is missing in the japanese DLC.

And the item i suppose is "guard cover 2" or soemthing like that as it takes 100 SP to learn the skill. Much more than any other item i have found untill now.

So now that I've finished the game I've finally listened to the OST in full, and there is no doubt in my mind that Blue Dragon's OST as a whole is much better than Lost Odyssey's. LO's main theme is awesome, but the rest of the OST has way too few really memorable tracks. And there is very little unity in between tracks too.
Not a bad OST at all of course, but it just feels a bit off.

There's nothing even close to "Eclipse Of Time (Harp Version)" or "A Return, Indeed... (Piano Version)" in Blue Dragon, though. Those two are, for my money, up there in Uematsu's Top Five Ever.

Probably, but there are also quite a few tracks that are totally forgettable. I've been listening to BD's OST frequently since its release (minus the two horrible songs), and it doesn't seem like I'll be listening to LO's that often. Maybe it will grow on me.

Went back to Crimson Forest as i realized i missed one of the crystal shards.

I can´t find it. Tried both quoted, the one in the warning stone/elevators and the other in the big stairs before the save point.

Anyother that i may have missed?

The one by the save point mid way through?

any and every music in the short dreams > BD whole soundtrack

LO's battle tracks > BD's battles

LO's world map track > BD's world map

and that's only from the 7 hours i am in so far.

I'll have to agree with that. While LO may have some tracks that aren't completely fantastic, for the most part I prefer it to BD's. BD's was very good as well, but it did have some questionable tracks as well (some of that blip-blop techno stuff or whatever, though I guess it fits with the robotic setting).

MCD

BD had a few tracks that i loved (main theme and cave for ones) but the "robotic tunes" or whatever were not for me, they fit the game maybe but none were interesting enough to listen to outside of the game.

not to mention some of the places in BD had the same tracks which got quite old at the end.

If its the one before the boss, near the stairs i didnt find anything there (or already got that one). Are you talking about a savepoint outside in the forest surface?

Good it's well worth it and released at a great time.

I agree, and i know this may sound crazy but i htink the random battles really work in this game.

The level design in say, BD is roomy enough for enemies to walk about.

For the most part, I thinnk that having enemies walking about in LO would just really make htings crowded.

Those half assed points aside, I also like the nostalgia factor these random battles bring to the table. Maybe i'm just a sucker for FF....

Yeah, the reviewers slept hard on this one. Then again, in the 1up Show made the game sound amazing, aside from Shane's battle loading time comments (which I thought were exaggerated.)

I am not enjoying this game guys. I am trying really hard. I even have the strategy guide for maximum coverage of all the possible quests and items, but the game is too damn linear to me. I am in Numara already. When does it get good? I generally hate JRPG's, but I decided to be open minded about this one and shit....

Yeah, if you don't like the JRPG, this game will really be bad.

Cause it the best damn JRPG I played in years!
