Official Presidential Debate 2004 Thread

Setting it up here, folks.

I for one am not expecting either party to gain much ground. The rules look like they were made to prevent anything of that sort from happening. The only way I see one candidate gaining ground is if the other candidate makes an critical error.

Oh, and can someone post a link to where it might be webcast or available for d/l later on tonight? Some of us may not have access to a TV tonight.

Discuss.

Here at OSU, everyone got tickets to the debates and it'll be broadcasted on a big jumbotron thing. :)

And John Edwards is the guest speaker. :D

And why don't you suspect that Bush would break the rules?

Bush is in the lead, Kerry is the one who has to hit home runs for 90 minutes. Bush doesn't have to do anything out of the ordinary.

I think staging a "debate" that ensures no cross-dialogue and no un-vetted questions is pretty out of the ordinary.

You could say "both parties agreed to it", sure; but which party holds all the power right now? And whom do these silly debate rules all seem to favor?

It would have been to Kerry's advantage had he not agreed to Bush's rules of the debates. They could have potentially been postponed and he could explain his story while the Bush Administration races to do some downhill damage control.

Bush Administration: "We don't want actual debates. Bush is too dumb and will be made a fool of on live TV (as if this would be the first time)"

America: "WTF?"

I would have never guessed in a million years that Bush would open up with "On September 11...."

Fuck, conservatives are like a broken record.

It was about national security, not sep 11th. He didn't have to bring it up, but he has to play the terror card. That's the bush administrations best asset, to scare the shit out of the american people to vote for them.

Bush said:
"And the main reason why we'll succeed is because Iraqi's want to be free"

:lol

The terror card allows 2 lesser monsters to be played (flip flop and osama bin laden).

Bush keeps bringing up the flip flop like it's a huge issue. Seriously, if that's all he has he should lose.

But you know, most people will will concentrate on flip flopping above all else.
