New patch is out (~16mb, 1.03).

Scenario Campaign is still shit.

+ fixed 2p selection so that you can start Arcade and Ghost mode on 2p side
- 2p selection doesn't work for practice mode (default to 1p side)
- practice mode still doesn't hold command list like Tekken 5 psp
- other off line player still can't choose custom costumes
- Scenario Campaign is still shit

Good lord, how depressing. :(

Also, apparently, the online SC mode is ten stages, none from single player. FTS, now I'll never clear those three stages. :-(

Wow, well that completely sucks. I was waiting for coop to fully beat SC mode (can't stand nightmare train). Oh well, I'm fully into fighting anyway.

My King, Bruce, and Raven are starting to dominate online :D My Nina just needs a little refresher and Wang is still a work in progress (but I have a winning record with him). Anyone who wants to fight, just add me.

How often do you guys change characters in fighting games?

I've owned this for ~3 months now and I've barely learned to use Feng (4th dan), and even if I spent another year playing as him I doubt I'll have mastered the character. I'm thinking of picking up Michelle, but I know if I start using her my Feng skillz'll start decreasing.

while it might not be too much fun, I keep playing with the same guy since Tekken 3. Of course i try every other character as well, but as soon as i fight srsly. i always choose Howrang, since Tekken 3 and I am a really badass fighter with Howrang :lol

I'm a total Tekken noob and started learning Tekken 6 with two characters at the same time. I've also considered taking up one or two more, but I pretty much focus on one as my main and the other as an alt.

Try Julia and if you find you like her better, consider dropping Feng for her instead or relegating him to alt status, or vice versa.

My biggest "problem" with the game is that I still can't find many good matches online. It's against the biggest scrubs/button mashers/rage quitters 95% of the time, so I don't feel like I am learning anything and am stuck as a beginner myself.

Heh, that's pretty much how I feel. I'll mess around and lose with other characters, but when it starts to get serious it's time to break out Feng! I was tempted to pickup Hwoarang and Law, but they've both been around for so long now they've become a bit boring (and realllllyyy overused online).

I can't drop Feng, he looks like too much like Kazuma Kiryu! You're right though, learning 2 characters might be more fun and I'll probably get a better handle on other characters.

I only noticed a huge improvement within my game when I started concentrating on movement rather than comboing, i.e. backdash cancelling. It lead to more whiffs so that I could get in some cheap shots on the other guy. Also, frame data is quite important only as it helped me realise that some moves, when blocked, leave me in a completely vulnerable situation. It really feels like unpaid work (and also quite sad) going through frame data on a video game though. :(

It's a shame that this game isn't popular on GAF though. This thread seems pretty much dead for online play. :(

The only fighter anyone is ever playing on my friends list is SF4. Add me if you want to play some Tekken. XBL is lyte edge and PS3 is lyteedge. I have it for both. If you're on XBL, send me a regular message first since I think my friends list is full. Gotta delete some people.

I got to play higher-level Tekken with some top US players last night. Ugh, the case really shuts down at that level. It's almost more fun to not be as good at the game.

SF4 was more offensive.

I was fighting this Law dude online and he kept doing this throw where he kicked me before chopping my neck like Bruce Lee did in Fist of Fury. Anyone know how to do that move? I've looked in so many places! It's not the back throw.

I started this two days ago on PS3, and had been playing on PSP beforehand. Maybe it was the sleepy lull I was in when I started it, but I just did not enjoy what I played.

The big mistake I made was selecting the first mode in the main menu (scenario mode?), which introduced me to endless cut scenes that would make Kojima jizz in ecstasy. Then when it got down to it, the game I played was some awful 3D action game that Namco always seem to throw in? I've not had a chance to go back to the game since, but is this shit the new main mode, or can I not just select a character and play arcade mode like I can in the PSP version?

Another thing: what the fuck @ Azazel!? I very nearly smashed my PSP trying to beat this guy with Baek. Absolutely impossible bullshit, so much so that I eventually gave up. When I do face him on PS3, is he at least a little easier with the better controller?

Just keep mashing 1,2 or 2,1 and other pokes and block when goes low and duck when he does his laser beam. He's realy easy.

Scenario mode is not good at all.
Yeah, the game has an arcade mode too.
Azazel looks crazy because its huge. Its not hard actually (At least on normal :lol )
The huge crazy robot... thats another story.

I hate Steve so much. I main King and Paul, while with Paul I can stave of eager Steve bulldoggers but my King keep getting raped by Steve.

Does King have any good punishers against Steve, for example, when should I be using King's b+1,2?
Usually I start backing off a lot with Steve and the only damage I pull off is with juggles, that guy recovers way too fast.

Secondly, he does insane damage to grounded opponents before I can roll away etc.

Any tips?

Tekken seems to be dead on Gaf. Come on ppl post strats, videos etc!

I feel your pain. All the good players only play private matches. I have totaly capped out at Vindicator rank since there is maybe ten players in the region that can give me decent xp. Still, Ranked is the only place gametype where you can randomly meet good players. Most of the custom games are full of scrubs and they kick me after my first win and hatemail me, great.

24th ranked Armor King atm. I guess I have to switch char.

Online play isn't perfect at all, but it is at least somewhat playable when you have 4-5 bars. I have an ultra crappy connection at home so it is a bit hopeless for me. Thankfully, I still have heaps of fun playing with people within my community.

If you are scared of playing scrubs, go here:

Kick ass and take names.

I played the shit out of Tekken 5, mostly for the awesome endings and unlockables.

But everything worth wild in 6 you can get, requiring playing through story mode is utter bullshititude.

???

You can unlock money using normal ghost battle and other actual non scenario mode related stuff. But hey if you're playing the game just to accessoize your character... play something else. Even though, Tekken 6 has like triple the amount of custom items T5 had.

Sorry, i didn't just mean accessories and stuff. I'm not a fantastic Tekken player in the first place, but the story and characters/endings and shit.

More characters with shorter stupider CGI endings vs. Less characters with more fleshed out CGI endings

Considering how amazingly balanced this game is while having such a huge roster, you should try to look at the bigger picture. With each characer (except for the new ones) having 100+ moves, the game has unlimited replay value. You can experiment with so many characters for limitless hours.

So is there a fix to the online connection issues?

I was trying to play with a friend online tonight, we spent 45 minutes trying to set up a match, and every time we got to character selection, the connection was lost.

A couple of times we made it to the beginning of the fight, where it said "Get Ready", but again, connection immediately lost.

We both got this game to play against each other online, and it just flat out doesn't work.

WTF is going on?

Random question... did the inability to rank up past basic noobish levels without going online ever get addressed/fixed/patched? As someone with crappy internet it's hard to get more value out of the game. Wish it worked like T5:DR.

No, you can't rank up without going online. meh, I don't care though. More money I get during playing higher ranked opponents in ghost battle.

Popped the game back into my X360 yesterday. Is it me, or did the patch turn off the anti-aliasing?

Got two more achievements, the treasure master one (whatever it's called), and the "no key for me" one. I got the latter in my first try, surprisingly.

Also unlocked the Mojukin level last night and got all the way to the end before those wooden bastards comboed me to death. I need to figure out Lars' floor breaking moves, it would make my life easier.

So did anyone catch the stream? Or watch the archives?

Here are the results from the event.

TTT
1st - UNCONKABLE!! (Devil/Armor King)
2nd - STLBADBOY (Ogre/True Ogre)
3rd - Slips (Eddy/Julia)

TEKKEN 6 3V3 Teams
1st - 4H - New York (FAB, fightinggm, The Real Law)
2nd - SDTEKKEN - San Diego, CA (Brahma, MarkMan, Stevechampion)
3rd - SoCal - Los Angeles, CA (SuikenUser, KaNE, MYK)

TEKKEN 6 Singles
1st - Rain - Korea (Bruce, Miguel, Dragunov)
2nd - Tongbal Love - Korea (Law, Devil Jin)
3rd - Crow - Houston, TX (Bob, Steve)

You can watch the rest of the event at the link a few posts up. Good stuff!

Make sure you watch the tagged "King of the Iron Dance" battle! lolol!

I did okay in the singles event. I played vs Korea's rain first round (by request) then worked my way through losers beating some soso and good/known players. Finally ran into the wall that is MYK (http://iamtekken.com) and was eliminated.

In the team tournament however, I fared much better. My team ended up sending the Korean team to losers and riding that momentum all the way into the winners finals. We ended up getting second overall. Not too bad considering SDT barely practices together nowadays! Everyone should really watch the goods though, the matches were amazing.

Some players to watch for when browsing thru the matches:

FilthyRich - Leo
aris - Dragunov
MrNAPS - Bryan (you guys GOTTA see the fightinggm vs NAPS FT10 money match!)
insanelee - Julia
Rain - Bruce, Miguel
Tongbal Love - Law, Devil Jin
Just Frame James - Law
SuikenUser - Lei
fightinggm - Lee
Slips - Eddy
Stevechampion/Filipino Bus Driver - Steve
FAB - Bob
Crow - Bob, Steve
MYK - Lars
KaNE - Lili, Bryan
