omg @hotlinemiami is $5 for the next [4 days] buy it you fools

More srubs finally becoming men.

Is mission 3 impossible? I have only tried it 40 times or so, but I can barely make a move on the second floor before I'm dead!

EDIT: Sometimes I'm not even aloud to enter the first door on the first floor before a guy shoots me.

Great game nonetheless though! :)

It's not just a controller thing, locking on to get quick shots around corners against gun toting enemies was necessary for me. Though it seems like I can reconfigure every all the controls except this, I don't like clicking in the scrollwheel, would much prefer mouse4 or something.
Yeah some encounters can't be solved without it or resorting to sheer luck.

Luring them through a doorway or to a corner works well.

Also, don't forget you can lock-on and throw weapons at ememies.

still can't even play the game because of a bug.
I would say don't buy it..but the price is low and the game SEEMS awesome,so let's all hope for a patch or something.

anyway be aware of the possibility you are as unlucky as me :(

This is a cool TK clone actually. (TK being an age old finnish indie game from before "indie games" even existed in peoples vocabulary)

Here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCUMb5_ByRo&feature=related

I played this a ton as a kid and it had a level editor where me and my friends recreated our homes and families and... killed 'em all naturally :) (The name stands for "Tapan Kaikki" as in I kill 'em all)

Anyways Hotline Miami has great presentation and really fast old school gameplay. You can't unlike it.

I find it too difficult to keep track of which direction my tiny pixel guy is facing

Well yes, it was a bitch but it was purely because I forgot about the option, it is the crosshair I focus on though.

I get that it is not meant as something negative, but it is really not a clone from what I see from the video. I would not even be surprised if they have never seen the game since they look completely different except from very few mechanics.

I gave it a go. I think it sucks.

The game makes it clear to the player in the beginning that it's a bug filled mess. The controls when using a controller is bad; it should be like proper dual stick shooter. Other times the controller straight up doesn't work.

No graphics controls, no resolution choices. Why isn't this in 16:9? Do these indie hippie devs still use 4:3 CRT's in 2012?

This is a nice compilation of music with a pre alpha attached.

Even when I tried to quit, the game froze.

It doesn't even work properly in XSplit! What a loser game.

this band is too loud.

why do people keep bumping in to me?

i wish someone would turn the AC down.

i hope this ends in time to get a pint of milk on the way home.

It might be a coincidence, but the similarities are huge in my opinion. And I didn't mean "clone" to sound negative or anything :) I'm glad someone has tried similar game mechanics and made it more modern.

Didn't know the slightiest thing about this game and yet I bought it.

Then I played it *_*

I can't belive I'm saying this but...Thank you Wario.

I don't know what chapter I'm at (tale end of Act 3 I guess?) but shit is getting bananas weird. Not interrupting my main crazy-ass gameplay though

Why does this game crash so much?

I regret buying this game because of the technical issues. The steam version crashed a few times and, even worse, it hard locked my PC 3 times in the 45 minutes I played it. Never had hard locks before on this PC.

I bought it for twice that price. Don't think too much, just buy it. It's a great unique game with an amazing soundtrack and style.

It hasn't crashed even once for me. I play the GOG version. Works perfectly. 5-6 missions in now.

How do people now know about this game???

GB quicklook and threads on here alot...

Also missed sale, Ill wait until the last day, flash sales might repeat

this game is more important than mario. any attempt to mechanically de-construct the game in to a sum of its parts misses the point entirely. it's a pulp experience, an acrid leather jacked with dried puke down the sleeve and a gram of coke in the pocket. a hazy recollection of the night before with only a black eye and a bout of herpes to show for it.

i've never wanted to wear mario.

<3

beat it last night. This is definitely one of the best games I ever played, word is bond. That narrative style generally, but especially
the fact that you were playing ' the bad guy ' all along and replay the fight at the end from the perspective of the biker who refuses to obey the phone calls was just clever beyond all other things
at the end, couldn't have been done in any other medium except this one.

America is a tune. Let's sing it together

Ok, I totally am not getting these indie developers who are lately making these sprite games and don't have any options for resolutions or windowed modes (same issue with Home and Lone Survivor, etc.). Do they think their consumers are primarily playing with 800x600 monitors or something?

Great game otherwise.

It's almost impossible to aim on controller without it. NPCs have too much reflexes

I played through the entire game without lock on. I aimed like a man. The lock on is too clumsy anyway.

The soundtrack coming through my headset makes me literally nauseous.

I played through the almost the entire game in pretty much one sitting. By the end i was nauseous and had a super bad headache.

Only ever used Lock-On for entering a room with certain patrol setups to start my blur of violence and gore. Mid-combat it was often too much of a liability.

Also you people getting sick from the soundtrack or hating on it are absolutely nuts. Soundtrack of the year all years. Been bumping it with the Drive soundtrack back to back since I picked up the game!

Why does this game crash so much?

Is the GOG version any better?

GOG version worked for me. The only bug I had was the weapon sound effects did not work on one boot. Worked fine after a reboot.

Finished it and it was quite good. Amazing soundtrack. I liked getting into a groove and mowing down the later levels. Really only had one major issue in that level with the multiple big bads. I used a controller.

I really thought about pulling the trigger but held off.

I'm going to wait and see if Amazon have it up for sale during January so I can use one of these $5 promotional credits on it.

Bought a heap of other games over the last month, so it's going to have to wait.

Wait, I haven't booted this up yet, but I can't play in, say, 1600x900?
