Oppenheimer (2023) | Official Trailer

Dunno how I missed this trailer release. It might end up being my favorite film of all time. Nolan rarely disappoints for me and the story of the atomic bomb is worth the treatment shown in the trailer. Day 1 in theater (and I never go to the theater) and day 1 on home release for me.

Is it odd for a director to switch from Fantasy to Non-Fiction? Mr. Nolan has a solid resume, and many of his movies sit among my all time favorites, but I don't think I'll watch this one in theaters. If I was going to buy a ticket and popcorn and soda it would be for the Avatar movie, or BP2 I suppose. I will definitely be catching Oppen when it drops on streaming, though.
His best work is grounded in reality and even the fantasy stuff keeps things largely realistic. Dunkirk is one of his best IMO and I believe this will exceed that.

Wait... Where's all the "historically inaccurate" folks who chime in on some "biopic" threads? Because you KNOW they're going to change some things... Why quiet all of a sudden?

I hope they include him cheating on his wife...

I would hope most understand that Hollywood takes liberties for entertainment reasons. I stick to books or documentaries when I want 100% accurate info.

I don't know where Nolan will take the story. Personally, I am most interested in the psychological toll it takes on Oppenheimer.

You and I both know they change up things in biopics... It's just the way folks were acting in The Woman King thread... Like it should have been a documentary. I never saw that kind of "adherence to history" in a movie thread before.

The Dark Knight Rises was pretty awful.

It's not a bad movie, in the same way that something like Black Adam or Thor Love & Thunder were genuinely bad movies. But it suffers from an awful lot of flaws that really weigh it down. It looks awful up against the rest of his movies, but if Michael Bay had made it, it would be considered his best work.

There's too much for one film and you don't get enough time to explore the story, it almost collapses under its own weight.

Catwoman, the fall and rise of Batman, Bane, Talia, Alfred talking about Rachel, Gotham siege, ticking bomb and Robin.

I give credit for Nolan to try and tie up a trilogy and there are some good set pieces. Other scenes didn't work so well 'Where's the trigger?' lolololol

And there’s the film’s biggest problem. In Nolan’s desire to tie off the story, he ruins it. Totally misunderstands the character of Batman throughout the entire film… in direct contrast to the first two.
