Thanks for the heads up. Will definitely watch the first episode after tonight's finals game. Gonna try really hard to not binge it all too quickly this time.
2 episodes in, already enjoying this a lot more than season 2. feels more like what i expected after season 1 in terms of humor and the things i liked about the characters

I've watched four episodes, and it's good so far. I'm enjoying everything that I've watched thus far.
I love these characters, all of the flashbacks, and the funny one-liners.
But I have one minor complaint so far (regarding the first four episodes):
My only (minor) complaint is that I feel like it's lost some of it's darkness and edge . In Season 1, you had Pornstache (Mendez) creating tension. In Season 2, you had Vee creating tension. Again, I'm probably jumping the gun, because I've only seen four episodes of season 3. I know Jenji Kohan said this season would be more up-beat, but I wish they would stick to the darker tone. This show is about prison. It's not "Parks & Recreations" or "The Office" or "Community". It's prison.
Anyways, that's my only minor complaint. Otherwise, I'm really digging season 3 so far. I've been laughing out loud at a lot of the scenes. Great stuff so far.

Can't say for certain, but the depth of field between the elements are all off. The characters look like they're in a vacuum to the background, Poussy's lighting seems flat, and the tree behind Taystee doesn't mesh with the background. But that's greenscreen in general, I'll forgive it in this context, it's way more unforgivable in something like Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, where as here stuff like this doesn't annoy me too much, comparable to Arrested Development season 4. However this is pretty disappointing if it's consistent throughout season 3, the prison has had a really strong sense of place, it's felt quite real, although I wouldn't be surprised if this was just their way of getting pick-ups after production -- Haven't got the chance to watch this season yet, very excited, as soon as it's Monday here in Aus and I can renew my Netflix account I'll be on it immediately.
