Orbis & Durango Pricing

Any predictions on pricing for either console?

What would you guys be willing to pay and what would be the ideal (but reasonable) price for either console?

599 giant enemy crabs

on a serious note for ps4 299 euro + 50 for 2nd controller some games easily equals 500 euro

dont like xbox at all

$400 for both, maybe with a higher end SKU.

Orbis $499 base $599 good

Durango $399 w/ contract $699 no contract

Maybe a second tier Durango $499 w/ contract and $799 no contract

$400-$500 for the most basic versions of both. I'd drop about $600 though if there were premium models with good features.

Hopefully no more than 399€ but with Kinect forced in the Xbox 3 bundles and something else for Sony it'll be 450/500€

Durango $349

Orbis $399

I agree, and I think Durango will have a gimp version and/or subsidized version, potentially of each. Orbis may have a gimp version but definitely nothing subsidized.

But the more I think about it, I'm not sure what they could really gimp. HDD space kinda hurts their other strategies. Can't really be wifi. I dunno.

400 PS4 (and I'm in day 1)
350 Xbox (and I'm in day 1)

Given the rumored specs, I'm not buying that Microsoft will subsidize the Xbox due to it being so expensive to make. If they do it, it'll just be to sell a bunch of guaranteed XBL contracts. I was leaning towards buying one and waiting on the other, but it's actually looking like we could have two very different types of boxes being released. I'm interested in both.

Not include the Dual Camera for one sku. Really at launch I think it is smarter just to have one SKU, if you are going to offer two SKUs make one have a free year of Plus, bigger HDD, Charging dock, or things along those lines.

How does the inflation-adjusted chart work chart work? The PS3 is listed as $600 in raw money, $570 with inflation. The Wii, which launched the same month, is listed as $250 in raw money, $285 with inflation.

399.99 for the one you want, just like Brad Shoemaker said.

Only way it'll be different is if Microsoft does it's subsidizing costs. Sony is in no position to haggle.

PS4- 549-599
Xbox 3- 399 plus 29.99 a month or 699 especially if they want to go the cable box route.

Basically I see both of them thinking the market has changed due to people willingly paying 599 and up for their Ipads. they'll feel they can command the same pricing.

I thought it could be a blended average of the gimp sku and the nongimp sku inflation adjusted (550 to 570)? But it's out of proportion then....maybe just the gimp sku?\

360 is $351 despite the $399 pro pack.

Should ofc be noted that inflation has risen faster than many many peoples wages in recent years. If a measure of value from one period to another it is slightly poor. Instead it is the value it is compared to other prices in the economy.

For a good launch they need to be very cheap. $350 could mean a medicre launch. Higher and it'll be a longer move from current gen to next gen imo.

I'm thinking $500 for both (because they know people buy iPads). Maybe they'll have some sort of deceptive scheme to get it down to $400. Anything less is dubious, we know Nintendo doesn't make money at $350 so I feel Sony can't go that low without serious repercussions and while MS could get super aggressive recent signs point to no.

It's the $500 price - note it's double the Wii's price in real dollars, and the inflation is exactly twice as much.

On a separate note, is the subscription stuff for Nextbox a joke, or have they actually floated the idea?

Again the PS3 was that much at launch for a reason, they didn't do it just because.

Its most likely going to be $400 to $450.

Jeez do you want sony bombs again at launch? No way they sell something at this price.
Oh well... the fuc%....

MS has been testing this with the 360. You can get the 360 console for $99 with a 2 year Xbox Live contract at 15 dollars a month.

Both consoles will have a SKU priced at 399$. I cannot be certain if there will be other SKU, but if there are, I believe they'll be priced higher instead of lower. Probably 499$.

You think Sony would realize that pricing a product too high, like the Vita, is a bad idea..

Haha, oh wow. Pay $180 a year for online and still have to pay $100 for (I'm guessing) the normally $200 4gb console.

Sad thing is, people probably do this too.

Don't care. It will provide me with more entertainment dollar for dollar than most other things I will spend money on over the course of its useful life.
