Definitely starting to see improvements. You n a month the game will probably be in a pretty good shape even in pubs.
I've hit the low 40s today. At this point I'm like whatever. I'm trying my best every game, but there's no way one person alone can change the tide of the game

Jeez, my friend and I got matched with a 4 stack and 3 of them went Genji and we lost handsomely, I really do hate shitters with a passion.
I hit 25 tonight so that's ranked sorted when it's released, I'm hoping once you get past the early ranks the level of play will increase dramatically but I'm not holding my breath.

well if that's for offense i see the problem. for defense symmetra is a good pick if there's another support for the team, i like her at the start of the game but doesnt really help at the end as much.
I like Reinhardt as an offense payload pusher.
Winston i feel works better on attack to counter snipers and on control maps.
Junkrat is good offense to take care of turrets, better defense for knockback and area of denial.
I played Reaper for two hours.
The amount of kills I got is insane.
His teleport is SO GOOD for flanking.
I feel dirty now though.
I had to play with two Genji's in my team so there were enough swords for all my edge to go around.
Also, I use the "Next!" voice line, cause it triggers people.

If I suck at online competitive games like CoD/shooters/everything am I just going to regret buying this? I mean is it mostly twitch based or is there more strategy involved or just a mix of both or what?
I feel like I should probably just buy Doom and enjoy myself but part of me really wants to get into this.

I'm not sure what to think of the game really, everything feels so extreme, sometimes you can see people playing god like but it's hard to tell if its being with a static group that helps and everything is just aligning. I don't think anything is really "balanced" and that's what makes it interesting.
I had a match where there was a Mei that did NOTHING but attack me the whole time, I guess they assumed I was the best player on the enemy team? They would literally single me out no matter where I was coming from on the map or who I was so by the time I would come back even with my team they were already on me coming up to me to attack, this ironically happened after I felt we had too many offense characters and switched off of Mcree, but that was way earlier in the match before I realized how bad my team was as none of them seemed interested in helping me.
But other times playing with randoms I have turned whole matches around by myself just by waiting for the one moment or making that one choice in a character. Had a KotH match and my team was horrible so I would just use Winston and save his super for every-time they screwed up and lost the point, would wait for the enemy team to come gather, beserk on the point and my team mates hungry for nothing but kills would pick them off as they scatted, capturing the point in the process, just did this over and over until we won both rounds. In another match team mates are meat grinding at the final payload push, I flank the enemy from behind a building, inform the enemies that's it's high noon and escort the payload by myself.
Also with Genji, if you get kills with his lunge it resets his cool-down so you can chain attacks. Sometimes I forget that so if people are having trouble with him remember that too. Also with Tracer, you can do some pretty funny stuff other than kills. I wasted a Reinhardt's time for about a minute in a KotH battle just by toying with him.

Winston can be a really good swap sometimes if the other team is slow to adapt. I've won lots of games last minute by swapping to him and just leaping behind them and forcing then to turn around or scatter a bit. If they aren't expecting it to can give you that one team fight win you need to close out the round.
if your team is bad, switch to a hero they are using or a hero you want some practice with, or just troll them.
YUSSSS LORE
There's a lot of strategy involved. You don't really need to be that good at killing other people. You can just take a support or tank role, there's a char for everyone and for every skill level. Go get it, it's amazing

If I saw my team pick those heroes on attack, I'd leave the game as quick as possible.
