Yeah, this really bothered me while watching the movie. It just seems stupid that they'd punch these things instead of just taking out the sword or that plasma cannon. Just "check their pulse" first thing instead of smacking them around causing all that collateral damage to the city.
I hope we'll see jaeger's fusion in sequel. Just imagine 3 in 1. That's one fucking giant robot.

surprised that no jaeger had brass knuckles with all the punching.
Fused Jaegers vs. Mecha Kaiju
Sequel already written for you Del Toro.

My one big quibble with this movie is that Mako felt pretty subservient to Raleigh while in Gypsy Danger. Aside from pointing out the sword, she was always quiet and taking his commands. I was hoping for more of a partnership in their two battles. They certainly made a point that she was very talented in the simulators, she just had problems with the drift.

No, it was an homage to Rodan.I think the kaiji giant bat wings were more like homage to Cthulhu. At this point I think it's safe to say that Mountains of Madness won't be coming for strange aeons.
I really hope this does well enough to get a sequel. I would love to see a movie flesh out the 10 years before the film takes place.

You know, the whole co-pilot trial sequence made me wonder why the gipsy didn't have a bo-staff type of weapon or an actual katana. Would that have been too silly? And there barely seemed to be any correlation between the protag's fighting style and how he pilots the mecha.

Will post more in-depth impressions later, but immediate thought is:
Guillermo....I am disappoint.

I don't know what people were expecting from this movie if they walk away this disappointed.

That line was terrible.

Also, I need to see Cherno guarding the Russian coast.
After the giant chain sword was pulled out, she could have said anything and I would have loved it.FOR MY FAMILYYYYY!!

Did you get a look at the book? What did you talk about? Did it go something like this:I ran into a guy at Starbucks this morning that is friends with the dude who did this concept art! He was holding a Making of book so I struck up a convo with him![]()
I can't help but feel that some people made up their minds before watching the movie. They weren't going to be happy any way. After the giant chain sword was pulled out, she could have said anything and I would have loved it.
It felt like I was watching a live-action Saturday morning cartoon. All the wonder and cheesiness included.
Cherno went down like a champ.

Definitely my favorite pilot pair. So great.
Why didn't Gipsy Danger use the sword in earlier fight scenes? That thing was like a signature move each time it used in the latter scenes

Gipsy seemed to favour it's Plasmacaster early on instead of the sword.
Even if it's in the form of short featurettes. Something like breaking news clips in their country's language showing clips from their latest victories.I really hope the Bluray release has extra scenes with these two.
It's like they look so awesome and interesting and I want to know more about them!

Yeah, only she seemed to know it was there.Thought it was an upgrade after Gipsy was refurbished.
For any of you guys that digged the movie as I did, and got an itch for some giant battlin' in your video games. Check out Robot Alchemic Drive and War of the Monsters. Both for PS2! War of the Monsters is also on PSN!
It's disappointing to hear that, but I guess I shouldn't have been surprised by Yukes.BTW, do NOT buy the Pacific Rim game. The trial makes it look kinda like one of those fun Godzilla fighter games, but then you realize it's a free-to-play game that you spend $10 on.
Not all of the Jaegers are in the game and some of the kaiju you have to buy if you want to play as them. About $4 each.
There a customization mode where you can build your own Jaeger using parts you earn from EXP. They are just taken from the four Jaegers in the game so you can build your own from there.
Oh? Want to add some textures, logos and paint to you customized Jaeger so it's not just grey? THREE MORE DOLLARS!
Is your EXP going to slow? BUY MORE EXP!
Also, this game has tons of missions! Fight this monster! Fight this Jaeger! Fight this other monster! And so on!
Also, textures that are barely passable on an original X-Box, but hey! At least you're getting 60 FPS.
