Aaahahahahahahahahaha!

Tens of thousands of people forming lines all over the country, Greg "Gladiator" Kasavin giving the much maligned PD0 a freakin 9.0... Oh my. Today has been one bitter, bitter day for Xbox haters.

From the crazy pre-launch anticipation to Gamespot approval of PDZ, this is indeed a glorious day :D

Still reading the review waiting for the part about the AI but this seems like a cool feature that should be in more FPS's.

Before each mission, you get to select your starting weapons based on the guns you've collected up to that point in the game, which is a nice touch that invites you to revisit earlier missions with later weapons.

There's no way that after years of TeamXbox General forumers bitching about Gamespot's scores that TeamXbox actually underrated the big launch FPS. :lol

Another good score.

Seems pretty solid. Can only imagine what Rare will do with Perfect Dark 2 since they'll build that from the ground up on 360. :)

Yup.

While I'm glad to see PDZ has turned out to be a solid sequel, it still doesn't match the original in features.

For the next PD, I want (if it's not planned for DLC already):

blood
more realistic art style
cheat system with target times
more weapons (match the 40+ from the original)

and plenty more stuff I can't think of right now because I'm so damn happy PDZ didn't flop. :)

I knew Zero was going to be a good game. I held the faith, now beem me back to the mothership!

Rare seemed set on this art style. They were probably forced by MS to "mature" the original cel-shaded art, but that's as far as they would go.

I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT RARE IS WORKING ON.

I'm not a PDZ hater, but I'm not quite understanding why one website's score all of a sudden changes everything so drastically. I'm glad it got a 9.0 and all, but how does that flip everything around?

If anything this proves the game is at least work checking out. Not the total disaster many of you were hoping and praying it would be. Almost all of the reviews have been above average.

Found the AI description sounds pretty good and armor system sounds like XIII which is a huge plus.

The foes you'll fight throughout the missions in Perfect Dark Zero won't necessarily shock you with their tactical prowess, but they do a pretty good job of weaving to avoid your fire or just keeping their heads down. In general, they believably behave like action movie fodder, creating danger often just through sheer numbers. What's interesting about them is that many of them are armored, clad in helmets or full protective gear. Anyone who has been playing first-person shooters for a while is by now accustomed to aiming for enemies' heads, and while headshots in Perfect Dark Zero are as deadly as you'd expect against unprotected opponents, helmeted foes can withstand a couple of shots to the noggin before going down. Even at the standard difficulty, your foes tend to be highly accurate at long range, which would seem unrealistic were it not for the scopes on their weapons. And they'll do a good job of tracking you down if you try to run from them. Your foes will use all manner of different weapons against you, and that, combined with the different environments you'll be fighting in, keeps the combat consistently fresh. It helps that your foes have a lot to say in battle--you'll catch them urging their comrades to press the attack when you're reloading, cursing you if they're shot but survive, and so on, and you'll rarely hear any of the dialogue repeat.

The dialogue hardly ever repeating is almost too hard to believe but there it is.

This entire ordeal is based around people flipping quickly. Che's impressions came out, the Xbots (myself included) freaked out, then they leveled out-- haters came out for blood. Then the direct feed videos came out and it was back on a high. Then the shots from BlimBlim came out and it was back to hating.

Then this review.

Good for Rare. I'm actually a bit surprised there's not more whining in this read that the killer app is "only" a 9, but maybe that's just an IGN thing since IGN seems to be very generous in their scoring. I know Gamespot is one of the harder reviewers to please, so that bodes well for this game's success. I still don't think it'll sell anything like Halo, but it should provide those looking forward to this game just about everything they wanted. I hope to try this game out for myself sometime and see how it stacks up to the original. Anyway, congratulations to Rare for pulling together a great game, especially considering its progress from previous incarnations.

Well Kasavin is usually pretty hard on his games although I haven't kept track of his record as much as some people have. If Kasavin gives it a 9 then it means that not only does PDZ NOT suck but it actually might be...........GOOD! I've purchased shooters that have scored much less than 9.0 at GS but I don't see myself buying a 400 dollar game console for that score. Seems like it will be a good to great game but I don't think hardly any people EVER thought it would be a system seller on its own.

After reading the review I will definitely purchase this game it seems like a worthy successor but I'll be waiting for a major 360 price drop to get my hands on this.

Okay, so just so I know where GAF is right now, this 9 means "killer app", right?

Now that Counter-Op and Challenges are on the way.....

FUCK YEAH :)

Hey, what's with all this rationality and courtesy? Either get with the program of this thread or get out! :lol

I will note that, for people who had this console preordered for months now, it's rely bizarre that you had to wait for a review to hit one hour before the console releases to justify your purchase. :\
