Persona 4: Arena |OT| Midnight's Just Around The Corner

That simultaneous dp cancel thing happened to me in a player match once. I eventually got tired of mashing out the dp (there was a lot of time left on the clock) and I took the loss but we were both laughing the whole time.

How hard is Naoto, execution-wise? I'd been working on Aigis since launch and am finally semi-satisfied with my results and can move on.

Why in the name of god are there so many Chie's out there? I swear every other ranked matched is with a friggin Chie!

I'm loving Elizabeth but...damn, ONE mistake and its a landslide >.<

Master Milk, you really need to block low.
Teddie's only high attack is his All Out Attack.

And I really need to stop Bursting on Thanatos.

IAD combos are hard SMP loop is easy. I used to play as Carl Clover, I could do his IAD combos but I can't do Naoto's for the life of me.
Those Carl combos are tricky!

I'll give Akihiko a shot first, hope he's more memorization (level effects) than hard stuff... tho these mini dash combos so far are a pain and I played CT Noel.

gg roe

fuck naoto and fuck her dmg.

I should just move to a char like yu, chie, or mitsu, where I can push buttons all day and pretend its skill

Yea, glad she doesn't have like Yosuke dmg. When I saw that it was Aki vs. Yukiko I cried. I can't do a thing against her as Akihiko.

Its not nearly as bad as some matchups. Its like 6-4 at worst.

I was playing bad and getting frustrated. I have to learn the naoto matchup. I think its 6-4 in naoto favor. Better zoning, better reversal, better buttons (in the matchup) and a super that silences.

Not going to lie I was starting to get angry which is rare. I had to log off and cool down and think of the matchup again or just lose and be upset over some stupid shit.

Good stuff Prototype.
I hate Aigis, but at least she's not Mitsuru.
I can at least do something sometimes, maybe.

It's stupid that Poison can't kill either.

Dunno why I don't ever get Teddie Decoy when getting up.
The startup's good that I should be able to take that sweep.
Maybe I can just never ever press the buttons quickly enough together.

GGs onemic. Do you mind if I give some advice? Be more careful with your drills. With Kanji I can just D grab or super if I call it out.

ggs Lucentto. I really need to play more sets with you, I feel I can level up my game and remove bad habits with you bodying me left and right.

Ya I noticed my habit of doing it on wakeup, I'm just really used to it, and I forget sometimes that with Kanji almost none of the shit I do to most of the cast is safe against him. All your characters you main I suck at playing because they pretty much all counter most of the shit I do. Kanji especially.

Yeah man, as long as you know what your habits are. You can work on it to erase it. Feel free to send me invites whenever I am playing P4A.

I just got this, but I'm really bad at it. Doesn't seem to click with me like other fighters. Any tips? I already did Lesson Mode, and hit up Training a few times. Should I try playing online? I don't know how to progress in terms of learning the game mechanics.

My biggest advice is learn spacing. I was talking to onemic on vent the other day about how to approach this game. Learn what moves characters have and know their option. From there you can figure out where you want to be on the field compared to the opponent.

For instance Mitsuru vs Yukiko. At the start of the round, mitsu usually presses 5A. Now the reason is why does she this is because Mitsu 5A hits yukiko at the start of the round if yukiko doesn't go backwards. It eliminates yukiko's option to 1) throw fans 2) call persona 3) move forward and etc.

Now not only can mitsu use this at the start of the round, she can also use it anywhere else in the round as long as she has the correct spacing as well.

I play the game by eliminating an opponents options. I want to control what you can do because I dislike randomness. I don't even care if my moves do no damage or anything. I just simply want to remove the ability for an opponent to do whatever the fuck they want. So often times you'll see me pressure players with a blockstring setup that is literally 0 mixup, and chip damage, but they have limited options on how to get out. From there I read my opponents thought process based on previous experiences and act accordingly.

In terms of learning game mechanics, that will come in time. The basic you need to know is burst, airdash, rolls, sweep, dp and EX moves. Everything else (hops, one more cancel, etc) can come later in time.

Luckily airdash, rolls, sweeps, and dp aren't exclusive to this game and are prevalent in most fighters, so previous experience from other fighters should carry over.

Here are all the matches I recorded. If you can't seem to find a particular fight, chances are I didn't get a chance to record it, sorry. Anyway, enjoy~.

Wow, disrespectful Yu style + DP thru stun/clash works better than I could've imagined!

Let me know what you guys think of the winner's prize (right now it's either Persona 4 Golden or Persona 4 The Animation Part 1).
Would you guys be more interested in figures, something else, or is that good enough?

Either or sound solid. I'm getting P4G anyways since I have a low chance at winning the tournament. That 2/3 format!

Haven't played in forever. I really like this game, just haven't had the desire to play it. I guess it's the cheap shit that makes me not want to play it.

I'll probably get shit stomped if I play some ranked =/

Sounds good, though maybe you should open up a prize pool and make it so higher places get first dibs on what they want. I'm already getting both those things!

Sounds good to me. I'll probably take P4G if I somehow win lol.

figureesss

Just because I don't have a Vita yet

Just got crapped on by an Akihiko in about 30 games.

I was using Chie at first but eventually decided she is a dead end and went back to using Labrys.

I can barely pull off combo's with her now since the muscle memory from trying to learn Chie combo's is getting in the way.

Also WA: Beast is harder than ever to connect now. I don't remember the timing being this tight. What ends up happening is I throw multiple matches because I try to end with Beast and just end up missing it somehow and handing them a win.

In my case it seems like the more I played, the worse I actually got. :/

my movement needs so much work its not even funny. I can't backdash, dash, or IAD for shit. This will now be my next item of improvement for me.

ggs, onemic. Sorry about not being able to play much.

Also, I don't think I've improved much. You just need more matchup experience. That also includes knowing you can punish my sweep with 5B. I told you last time too man :p

Ya I forget, because outside of you I play a Yosuke player maybe 5% of the time.

The only time I've ever played a Yosuke was during the week one tournament.

Then again, that applies to most of the cast.

It's ridiculous how bad I am at games.
11 freaking games, and only on the last 1 did I punish what should've been stopped after like 2-3 times.

If anyone else in the world had the amount of free time that I do and play this game as much as I do, they would be like the greatest.
But me, I get beaten by trolling for 10 games.

Not to mention I keep going for the same scrub tactics every time, whether it wins or loses.

I can't wait for Guilty Gear and BlazBlue to come out and I don't even have the luxury of autocombo.
