Persona 5 Review Thread

I wonder how many people are going to knock this game for having bleh dungeon design just like Persona 4.

I know I was really hoping for something that didn't have such crappy dungeons, but from what I hear from people who played the JP version it isn't THAT much better.

Uhh that's the like the main area that they improved.

Holy crap, it's Breath of the Wild all over again. Question for Persona fans: Should I play PE4 before buying this game?

P4 is a 10/10 game. (Go for the "Golden" version for PSVita if you can).

Having said that, just because we are so close to P5's release date, I'd say wait for P5 and join the hype!

I suggest for everyone to spread the games about over the year.

We're never gonna get that many good games in a condensed period,so I am gonna try to play those games apart from each other.

Don't wanna rush or do injustice to any of these games!

That's what I've done. Horizon, Nioh and resident evil 7 are all backup games incase I hit a dry spell with no games of interest.

Don't have time or interest to play Horizon or Nioh right now ,so I am just gonna wait till I feel like it.

Feels good to have a great backlog.

for a second i thought this meant we could change other party member's personas and got excited before i realized what you actually meant

I've found this actually tends to be where the main difficulty in Persona is compared to usual SMT games where you have more control over your party's skills.

mmm from i remember certain slink only goes max near the ending, so if you fucked up the progress in the middle, yeah you cant max it out

Don't think it is true that you can fuck up progress in the middle.
I think there are two things that can block you from maxing a Confidant.
1. Well of course the major cut off point where the year is basically over it's somewhere mid December for P5
2. Is not accounting for some Confidants having mini quest related to them usually around rank 7-9. So of course if you don't do those progress is blocked as well.

Yup, these first few months are nuts. Doing that with Nier least and will probably look into that one during the summer.

Shit...Oh well, let's see how I do.

aaand you cant just rush your relationship with 1 person. if it can only reach lvl max after a certain date, lets say desember 12, then no amount if interaction you make can make it possible to reach the max lvl prior

not fucked up in a sense that it lowers your slink points, but you do need to commit more time for the slink to reach its max lvl, and this compromise your time to interact with other.
yea basically its really hard to max every slink in 1 play trough

I assume p5 has New game +? i want to play without a Guide in the first run, and then get Platinum on the second

Yes NG+ is available with I believe the usual things you can inherit with that.
I always forget what is exactly excluded but I don't believe it changed from P4G.

Whoever you heard from are CRAZY.

Errr, the dungeons are far better than they were in P3/4, the quality of the dungeons in 5 is probably the biggest improvement people have mentioned since the JP release.

Dude, the dungeons are miles better. They're fucking fantastic.

I sure hope so. All I see is negativity from my circle, though.

not reading the reviews till i get my hands on the game but are the reviewers into the dub?

For a waifu game like Persona I would think you'd want to play the game with the voice actor that's billed as the true voice.

NANA MIZUKI is Anne. Hinata from Naruto, Colette from Symphonia, Najimi Ajimu from Medaka Box, etc.

On top of that, Futaba is motherfucking AOI YUUKI of all people. Yes, that one.

Tsuyu from MHA, Tatsumaki from OPM, Madoka, Pascal in Nier: Automata, Tanya in Youjo Senki, among other things. You get the idea.

Not knocking people for playing the game with a dub, but man, I know several people who will watch a show just because Aoi Yuuki is voicing a character in it - having allstar VAs with a big pedigree voicing a cute girl is a big draw.

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
I just need to know one thing.

How much grinding is in this game?

None whatsoever.

I might have grinded a few times in P4G but only because the dungeon boss was giving me a hard time. Grinding can be helpful but is never mandatory.

Yeah, you can remember forgotten skills by going someplace in the game, as I recall. I didn't need to do it myself but it should be there.

Nobody's got time for that! We have social links to do!
I haven't managed this yet. Probably doesn't help I just answer questions how I want rather than how the NPC would want.

I feel that this game would be great to remote play with the vita. Have any of the people that already has it tried it out? Does i work okey?

Works great, looks great. My only issue is that R2's mapped to the rear touchpad, but you don't use R2 much anyway.
I'd still say to refrain from playing the "big scenes" on remote play, since some of the cutscenes and bosses look spectacular and deserve to be seen on the big screen.

If you want to maximize your social links without following a precise guide, I think grinding for money is a real thing. Otherwise 40 hours in the bosses aren't something that you need to grind for even on hard.

Man, I love this image for the fact I'm playing these three games back to back.

Just wrapping up BotW and will start NieR later today, and then have P5 on preorder which will be my next game.
