Goodness, I'm getting more and more hyped for this game, it's so hard to wait. TT__TT
I keep getting itchy to play P3/4 to sate my thirst but I also don't want to risk burning myself out before I even get the game.
Ugh, can it just be next week already???

That is super de duper maximum shitty, just because they should know better and be held to a higher standard than youtube commenter trolls.

That being said, I didn't think that P3 had a particularly narrative-spoiling twist, not like Persona 4 at least. You miss out on a nice moment of the ending, but I don't think the plot hinges on it.

I'm ready to block 50% of my twitter follows on official release date for this game, though.

That's promising to hear, but at this point, I don't see myself going backwards.

The mechanics of P4 spoiled me and P5 definitely won't help either.

I haven't played any games since Zelda for this very reason...trust me it was tough to not play NieR or Mass Effect.

What happened to the "every ps4 game from here on out gets a pro patch?"

It released in September in Japan. Same situation as Yakuza 0 which didn't get one as it released a couple years ago in Japan. The PS4 Pro Boost Mode did help the latter by removing screen tearing and framedrops when moving the camera rapidly, at night. So I guess with Persona 5 the boost mode will help stabilize the framerate even further, but I don't think it needs it in the first place, seems completely solid on base PS4.

Man, I regret not pre-ordering this sooner. I just checked that my retailer got a stack of early copies and they were sold out in an instant.

this year holy shit!!!
i wish i was able to play this on a portable tho... so manu great times with 4 golden on vita and 3p on psp..

this has been the best playstation year in a while, western PS ip's suck balls... they should go full japanese from now and i wouldn't complain.

I remember X-Play spoiled the ending of Persona 3 in a review for FES.

I mean, doesn't the intro to P3 pretty much have a huge spoiler for the ending of the game?

it comes right out and says memento mori lol

But really, stay safe out there everyone! That said, I've been waiting for this game for 9 years now so nothing's gonna keep me from devouring this game, not even spoilers!

How limiting is the day system in this game? I remember hearing about how you basically needed to follow a guide in P4 to maximize your time in the game because of all the choices.

Like I'm fine not being bestest buddies with everyone or seeing everyone's full story, but getting locked out of gameplay related upgrades or items or trophies would seriously put a damper on my enjoyment.

You usually get enough chances to get stuff done.

Monday comes, you go to class; talk to friends and hang out. Person of interest might stick out.

Tuesday hits and after class you might want to start something with that person. You do and build social link.
Wednesday that person wants to hangout again, but you have practice. Hanging out and practice have different paths you take. Or you have to meet up with the gang to take care of some business etc.

Some things you might have to look up.. like your teacher asking you questions in class, but all you have to do is to be paying attention for a lil bit (you're only in class for 5-10 min).

Point being, for p4, I didn't have to worry about much and got most out of the game.

Now with P5, or any RPG of this magnitude, I would think trying to get a platinum would be a serious task, unless they have forgiving trophies. So I wouldn't worry about it and just enjoy it.
Edit: I have not played P5 yet.
Forgive me if any of this is some type of spoiler..

Yeah, same boat! Except for me it was Nier instead of Zelda (super wanna play that, too, but sadly gotta wait until I can get my hands on a switch). I beat it ~2 weeks ago? Just enough time for me to be ready to dive into the next game. Now it's just playing the patience game but it's so hard LOL
We're so close tho!!

So a few questions for those who have beaten the game(Please no spoilers)

- Does the pacing still suck?

- Are there any missable rank-ups on Social Links? (i.e. the fox in P4, you have to buy something from Tanaka on a specific Sunday)

- Is getting the true ending still difficult without a guide?

Not beaten, but...

- Does the pacing still suck?
Not sure what you mean. Dungeons take considerably longer, but are also much more varied and interesting.

Apparently easy to get with a save at the point of no return.

P4G made it extremely apparent that you were about to get a bad ending instead of the true one, and I think that philosophy carries over to here.

So how does going to a dungeon work, is it something you can only do after school, or can you go at night?
After school only, generally leaves you too tired to do anything that same night.

I remember X-Play spoiled the ending of Persona 3 in a review for FES.

This made me watch their original review of Persona 3. And what a shitty review, I probably watched that back then and it turned me off of the series for years. Didn't play Persona 3 until 2011 or 2012 and it became one of my favorite games. Wouldn't have touched the series if not for the Endurance Run.

Does the game have multiple difficulty settings? If so is normal challenging. P4 felt just right imo.
Multiple difficulties you can change at any time! Normal is a bit harder than P4, at least early on.

Was Persona 3 like that? I can't remember anymore.
I... think so. Or actually, couldn't you only go into Tartaurus at night during the midnight hour?

Edit: post below sounds right. Thank god they got rid of getting tired, and the reverse s-links.

Yeah 3 even had another system where the dungeon from the previous night might have left you tired for the next night. Something like that. You could get it cured with the school nurse or something.

I think 4 got rid of that

They never said it would get a Pro patch - the idea was that after a Pro's launch, most game's should just ship with Pro features already. For example, Horizon didn't have a Pro patch. There have been a few games since launch that haven't either. I think, since we're in that weird time frame, there is still a liberal window into which games can still get a Pro patch, but honestly, P5 just doesn't seem like this high-fidelity candidate that begs some Pro feature-set.

I mean how persona 3 made you wait up to 28 days in between events of note, or Persona 4 gave you the old "You have no choice but to wait for something to happen".

I recall P4G trying to lead you away from the true ending by telling you to go home on several occasions when to get the true ending you need to stick around for a bit.

I think 4 got rid of that

I think 4 had something similar, how you couldn't really do anything but sleep after going into a dungeon.

Oh that's definitely still the case.

Although the time you have to complete the dungeon feels shorter.

The days of pure time-management seem like they fly by to me, too.

You know what freaks me out. I look exactly like Prof. Edogawa. I could easily cosplay him without little effort if I was so inclined.

I still can't believe the scores this game got.

The wait for tuesday is going to be a damn crawl, but then i've got two glorious weeks of free time to play the shit out of this game.

Still can't believe we will be playing this next week. Still remember when people were freaking out about Persona Q being the big reveal.

In 3 the MC could basically continue for eternity, but your party members would eventually leave of their own volition leaving you with nobody but yourself. In 4 you can continue in the dungeon until you run out of SP/SP items.

Must have misunderstood what was said lol. I recall the MC eventually getting tired in 3 though.

He'll get tired and take some hits to stats, but I don't think it ever forces the MC out. However, after you continue long enough with tired party members, they say "we're too tired, we're going home." effectively meaning you should leave since you do get a gameover if the MC dies in P3. :p

IIRC you also get sick if you leave Tartarus while tired and then Mitsuru's like "you can't go to Tartarus until you get better." P4 has the same system, but you or your party members don't get tired in the dungeon, only when you leave, which means you can't do night stuff and have to go straight to bed.
