It's not that hard. If you have played Persona before Normal should be easy for you. You can change difficulties on the fly though (unless you're on Risky), so if it's too hard or easy you can switch to something else.
And yes, go finish P4G. After this game.
Feel like i should go back and finish marie's dungeon at the very least, just incase there are some obscure nod nod things about it in this.
wait marie is in this right?
I've been playing on Normal w/ Auto-Map (but I'll make notes of doors, shortcuts, etc.) & I haven't played any EO games aside from Untold's demo. It's very doable for the most part as someone who's had little exposure to the series (though I'm a RPG fan as well). There was only one battle that I had issue with & that was because I was unprepared and chose to activate the battle/trap.
If you're having trouble, you can always lower the difficulty if you wish (unless you're playing on Risky, the hardest setting).
Only thing I dislike is choosing all the attacks beforehand as I'm just so used to choosing a party member's attack & having it happen instantly, but one could argue it adds strategy on if you should spread out your attacks or focus on one enemy.
Odd question, but is better to stick with one focused team and let the other members stagnate or should I keep them all evenly leveled? While I'd be happy to level up all of the characters, there seems to be so many and the added value of sub-Personas seem to downplay specific character weaknesses.
I'd just go with a single team. There's too many party members for me to even consider trying to keep them all around the same level.
I almost feel bad about having the DLC Magic Points Based Persona in use at the first boss.
But then I remember that the earliest FOEs give even more ridonkculously high level Personas practically at the same time, and get over it.
What determines what skills are transferable on fusing? Why does golden link not want to transfer ever? Making a link specialist has been driving me mad.
I vastly prefer etrian's skill trees :
I prefer SMT's system because it encourages more experimentation. EO's system is definitely more rigid and far less "random", however I don't like feeling penalized for changing builds. Which means I instead will plan out builds a lot more in advance and just sticking with it rather than just going with what I have at the moment.
If by penalized you mean losing 2 levels, that "penalty" is considered a joke by most EO fans, I liked it more when it was losing 5 levels.
I don't feel like they are comparable and I really enjoy both, but I like the EO skill trees way more.
I only remembered it being 5 levels so yes. Haven't played the recent EOs much. How much time do you need to make up back for the 5 levels? Plus if you're experimenting around you won't be doing it just once.
Finished the second labyrinth last night, this game has great boss battle music. Is the third dungeon as scary as people say it is? I don't like things jumping out at me.
As long as the enemy isn't immune to it, you should try using a skill or weapon that binds agility. It makes it so they can't dodge attacks.
Come on Chie, stop missing already.
Those levels aren't going to kill you and it's mostly there so you plan ahead and think before using skill points. In recent EO games and probably for the next ones it's going to be 2 levels which is nothing, you can gain it back really fast(several minutes) if you know what to kill(Golden FOE in EO4 as an example or doing the Guild Card "character" stuff).
5 levels was fair(EO3) and I never saw it as a punishment, now 10 levels back in the EO1 days was harsh as hell. Respec should not be free, and I'm so glad that basically NOTHING is permanent in EO.
Right, so you have to plan ahead. I'm not saying it's bad, it's just a different system. I probably remember EO1 more than the other EOs.
How do folks feel about the two new characters the game introduced?
I dig Zen, but I find the constant eating by the girl a little annoying. Will the game end with her getting diabetes?
I don't get the 100% thing. Do you literally have to step on every square in the dungeon? I got to the treasure chest that wants 100% and it highlighted areas I'd been to. Then I went around again and it still highlighted them. I had to go around like 3 times before I got 100%.

Yes, it's silly. I just spend the play coins for the last few steps that FOEs are on. I do get pretty deliberate on stepping every square when I'm exploring just for the chest though.
Good to know...
Seems like such a missed opportunity. Shouldn't the chest give you an item for getting a 100% map? I mean, I get that mapping helps to get 100%, but still.
General question: after continuing to visit a power spot until it disappears, does it ever come back? If it doesn't I might as well remove the icons from my map.
this game has a horrible difficulty curve. I've beaten EO 4 and Untold w/o a problem but can't get past floor 3 in the first labyrinth here. utter, frustrating bullshit.
I thought Power Spots would always come back once you leave a dungeon. They can permanently expire?

That may be the case. I cleared one floor of power spots and haven't been back yet to check if they have returned. If I continue to visit one repeatedly until I have to fight someone, are the spoils from that fight considered my final reward for the power spot or does getting into a fight mean I have missed out on something?
Edit: Getting into a battle doesn't drain the spot. It just counts as a gather, I think.
They all regenerate on re-entering a dungeon. Not sure if moving up/down stairs does the same, but exiting the labryinth, even via Goho-M, will make them come back.

It makes more sense now that I know they come back. Thanks!I'm not sure what you're asking. Power Spots will give you stuff, and after you've obtained everything you can from them and they stop glowing, they should always regenerate back at that very same spot after you leave a dungeon and then return to that location afterwards.
It makes more sense now that I know they come back. Thanks!
Try turning down the difficulty maybe? I'm playing on Normal and it's been pretty easy.this game has a horrible difficulty curve. I've beaten EO 4 and Untold w/o a problem but can't get past floor 3 in the first labyrinth here. utter, frustrating bullshit.

I can't compare to the P4 route, so I don't know exactly how different it is, but I am noticing a slight P3 bias when it comes to which side gets the most events and focus when playing on that side.
Use Naoto's hama and mudo, almost every enemy is vulnerable to one of those.yeah, well, I'm on normal too. the game isn't hard per se, it's just some encounters can escalate too a point where you don't have any chance, even if you start with full HP and MP. not gonna go lower than normal, might turn me into a casual, lol.

As for the giant beetle that wrecks your shit, try using Pulinpa to instill panic. It works almost every time.
