I think that was the worse pilot episode for an anime I've seen in my life. Even worse than the pilot of SAO 1.5, imo. :\

Really disappointed how rushed the episodes are just to add some minor, minor plot. If I hadn't known what Persona was, I would be terribly confused and think this was some third-rate anime with a plot made.
It's like they put it in a form in which it is so rushed, that you get no feel for the story, and in turn the whole "charm" and trash everything.
Honestly, the first 15 minutes was an absolute mess. For the sake of rushing, no characters had any personalities, besides the overly-done Yu. I couldn't help but cringe at how bad his first day at school was up the events leading up to them going into the TV.
The fight scene wasn't the worst part of the episode, but it was by far the most disappointing of them all. The fight scene was so shoe-horned it, and the actual quality of the fight wasn't really good at all, nor did it give off the feel of any of the battles in Persona. Instead it felt like a really boring, mind-numbing battle against an insane number of enemies as Izanagi repeated the same techniques found in Shonen-Fight #56943. It got to the point where I was literally covering my face as Izanagi was coming back to Yu with haloing and clouds surrounding him.
Also, as mentioned earlier, they got the whole feel of Yu wrong. I can't really explain this well, but rather than being the much "cool"-er "level-headed"-er that we've seen, Yu just is shown as extremely unlikable. Oh and the fact that Yu is never even really introduced to the original cast was really off-putting.
And that leads me to another point. The liberties. Oh geez, the liberties. When you go into an anime, especially one that is adapted from another source material, you expect liberties to be taken to help increase the enjoyment and portray feelings that you can't get from copy-pastaing the same stuff as the original work. In this case, all liberties were purely for making the show run its events faster and to not tell as good of a story, and for what? An extra 4 minutes with Marie, who is really the only character part of the anime that was redeeming.
Still, it doesn't seem that the rush-shoehorn-the-golden-stuff is worth the expense of what makes it a bad anime.
I know people like to say that it's like a New Game +, and that we're just rushing through the plot for some events, but is it worth it? Is having not as good charm, story, pacing worth the extra Golden content?
Even the whole thing about Golden for me, the nostalgia and callbacks to content you once experienced, seems to not be a focus for the anime. It's just rushing, and as a result, not really tapping into the nostalgia or feel that makes P4(G) so special.
As it stands on its own, I think it is a pretty bad episode for an anime, and something I'd immediately drop if I hadn't played Persona 4 a billion and six times on both Vita/PS2.
Really hoping for a killer next episode. Too bad it seems like there is no end to the rushing, as we see Kanji in the preview for the next episode.
