Persona4 the Golden ANIMATION: Thursdays at 12 PM (PDT), begins July 10, 2014

If this is New Game+, shouldn't he have access to the compendium and a wide range of demons he already summoned previously?
His cash should've carried over, so next episode he better be switching around and not just using Izanagi.

But his level doesn't carry over; he can't for example summon a level 80 Persona being at level 1 in P4G :l. That wasn't the case for P3P (and I think P3: FES as well?) due to the MC's level being carried over as well, so if say there was an anime version of that and Minato used a level 50 Orphes, that won't be that far from the the original games.

Not that this applies to the anime, but you can summon persona from the compendium in NG+ regardless of your level.

Opps X(, I mixed that up with the Persona Fusion system; sorry X(.

Still though, I can't imagine this 'reborn' Yu is going to have 600,000 yen in his pocket to tell Margret "Hey, you don't mind that I buy that level 90 Persona now?! It will make my quest ea...I mean, help me better my fusion skills....yeah :D!" in the anime though X(.

Whoever thought this'd be a good idea was dead wrong. This just seems so useless. Why. THAT FIGHT SCENE IS SO DUMB!
Omnimon in the Digimon movie did it better.

I thought you could just pay for the demons you've summoned before but just couldn't fuse.

But nuking a swarm of tens of thousands of shadows into oblivion with his newly awakened Izanagi is okay? ;)

...I don't know man XD! It just makes the whole fight look way to easy for the viewer though; seeing characters struggle and have difficulty in there battles makes the fight all the more exciting to watch. Even in a show like DBZ, characters show signs of weakness and exhaustion during fights (like some of the Goku vs. Freza fights early in the series for example) even though the power they have is huge.

What? I don't think easily dispatching a swarm of shadows that large the first time you awaken to the power of summoning personas shows any kind of struggle or weakness... He barely lifted a finger.

Edit: Unless you're agreeing.

...What I meant was that if the fight SHOWED signs of weakness, then the fight scene would have looked much more interesting and exciting. Sorry if I wasn't clear before :(.

Doesn't money carry over for NG+?

Oh yeah. A fight scene can also be interesting and exciting without resorting to simply dumping thousands upon thousands of enemies against the character as well lol. The scene in question was handled fine in P4A, for example.

Still, no Persona anime has captured the fight scenes as well as the P3 Movies.

I don't get it. You have a 25 ep long anime that was released barely 3 years ago, and now the REMAKE it and cut it together to 12 eps?

holy shit.

you'd think they're attending a movie premier.

this shit is the first episode of a series that'll last a season.

If you saw the packed house (Petree Hall in LACC) for the SAO 2 premier during AX... At least you can agree that a movie theater setting is a bit better.

Sooo... Is this essentially the New Game Plus version of the Animation (in addition to adding in the new social links and such from Golden)? Just based on that first episode it really seemed like Yu was massively overpowered and prepared for everything. I just didn't hear anything about it officially being NG+

I think the series is meant to be watch after the fact that one, you have watch the first animation and two, played finished P4G (as been mentioned by countless others)
That fight scene is just over-the-top, no shit was given kind of thing, and that is great, cause everyone has seen it before countless of times, and the only way was up.

I have all problems with Marie.

Is what I said.

Though I just watched the first P3 movie. Didn't even know it was released but this thread made me look it up. Much better than that scene.

Edit : I love when no comments are posted for a couple hours and then two posters sync.

This. P4GA isn't supposed to be some exact direct and faithful adaptation. They're just kinda having fun with this one.

Persona 4 the animation was meh, but at least I felt like they gave an honest try to tell a 100+ hour RPG with characters into a 17-19 episode show.

This...from the looks of it doesn't even need to exist.

hell, they're succeeding

i don't know what you cats are talking about with 'doesn't even need to exist', persona 4 has been a franchise zombie for like five years or more at this point, i don't know why you're all acting surprised. at least the stuff we're getting is entertaining

Well, it's more the fact that this above everything else is unnecessary, at least most of the other content they put out advanced the plot in some way. This is basically a remake of an anime stripped down even further taking into account added content of an updated rerelease that really didn't need it's own animation to begin with.

For all it's faults the original version of the anime did its best to capture the games story with the time that it had. And sure you can say they just want to go all out and make crazy awesome scenes, but really two or three OVA's probably would have been enough to cover a lot of the new content from golden at a higher quality as we.

With that said, Persona 4 Golden is awesome and glad it came out

You guys have to remember, even if it this was not needed it still sells.

Persona 3 movies are much better and I think they tried to adopt a bit of what they took away from that by giving the main character a distinct characteristic. However, in this case it makes Yu look kind of like a douche.

The production is also rushing a lot and don't expect great animation. This is however a nice addition to the games for fans to watch. Wouldn't recommend it for newcomers.

Well, the pacing was pretty fast. I'll just imagine someone is doing a NG+ playthrough and I'm just watching them play. I didn't watch the original anime (I'm not too keen on game adaptations), so I don't know if this is an improvement in any way. I do wish they kept the awakening sequence simple. In the game it was simple and effective. Yu looked badass and totally evil for a few seconds and that's all you really needed.

What a tease. :)

I liked it. Glad they aren't just repeating what the first anime did. They went crazy with the fight scene at the end. I wouldn't recommend this to someone who hasn't played the game, but as someone who has, it was good fun.

Did anyone else notice they had to fake Sony's name on the small T.V by calling it "Sany".

They couldn't get permission to use Sony's brand in an anime inspired by a game that is exclusive to Sony platforms? Really?

Liking it so far. Maybe it's just the wave of nostalgia that hit me as soon as that harmonica riff came on, or seeing the old gang again. In any case I really loved the game so color me biased.

Watched this yesterday on Crunchyroll .... was kinda weird it's like an abridge version of the P4 story with Marie scene attached to it : /

And DAT fight scene 0_0 wtf was that ?

So how long are they going to keep milking Persona 4 ?

Don't get me wrong I love Persona 4 (on my top rpgs of all time) but I don't like the milking they are doing with it .

I actually enjoyed the first episode more than I expected beforehand, I think the pacing is fine for a short series that is for P4 veterans and that has to focus on the new content. I also liked how Yu acted like some of the different dialogue options. I also loved how over the top the first battle was and I didn't think the CG was that bad. I also quite like Marie so I loved the scene after the credits.
