We need a 3.8 mil stretch goal.
I propose a Third Big City.
I propose spaceships.

Yesssssssssss. Create a secret goblin village which doubles as an experimental space shuttle launch platform!
Buck: What are your plans for supporting the Project Eternity community up to and beyond its release? Have you considered the possibility of releasing any content-inducing patches or even a toolset of some kind?
Josh: Our testing and beta processes will minimize the need for patches, but we like to support the longevity of our products. We recently made an update on what our plans are regarding mods. We've partnered with the Nexus Network to host mods. Additionally, we will be releasing file format information and leaving a lot of our data tables open for easy modification.

I can't access the kickstarter website where I am.
Whoops, I didn't know. Exactly 14 hours are left.
Huh, really?Baldurs Gate alone was tough enough! I sketched maps as a kid to help me get around. Two will be harder!
Day/Night cycle! Scheduled Time Events, Big Arena, Cooking, Seasons!!!!
BG2's map CD-Projekt threw in the box was such a disappointment in comparison. :'(Huh, really?
Maybe it was only in polish version, but we had a full-colour map of the whole city in our box.
Have they given a time when they're announcing the new stretch goal? If the funding needed is a big jump it'll have to be soon I'd guess.
And then if you have a massive dungeon, you enter in summer and leave in winter... It's a bit silly.
True, donations seem to have slowed now. They should just say "Including PayPal pledges, we've hit $3.5 million and Big City 2 is confirmed, here's one final stretch goal for the last 12 or so hours".I think they're waiting with the announcement until they hit $3.5M on KS alone (which might take a while at this rate).

Well it's also a result of America being asleep at the moment, I don't think we Europeans are that into supporting American companies, no matter the goal (or maybe we're just cheap?).
Actually, from what I've seen there's a very large European fanbase for this- Germany and Poland are CRPG country, after all.

I don't know about this. Infinity Engine games didn't have minigames and didn't come worse by it.I wonder if there'll be any side activities or minigames (like dice poker in The Witcher)? Would be good to have something simple but addictive, and depending on what the game was it could help with getting money for the stronghold too.
That's probably not their fault, though. CDP didn't have any good assets so they included what they could.BG2's map CD-Projekt threw in the box was such a disappointment in comparison. :'(
Completely missed this one!
Threw in $50... phew
Can't believe I completely missed this, $35 for now...

Better now than tomorrow! Time to see if there's any friends I have yet to drive away with Eternity preaching...Can't believe I completely missed this, $35 for now...
Have they said yet if you can upgrade your pledge even after the Kickstarter ended? Some other projects offer that service, and with all the upgrades they've introduced it seems pretty likely to me.
I've only pledged $20 for the early backer special (and $20 for the GAF inn), but if there was the chance to upgrade, I'd probably go for a boxed version next month or in December. This month I've already spent too much on games.
With this much money I expect a game that finally surpasses Baldur's Gate II in content and quality.
They squashed Double Fine Adventures record for pure Kickstarter funding (not counting PayPal).

No pressure, guys. Take your time - I have plenty of other games to play in the mean time.
I estimate Baldur's Gate 2 was made on a significantly larger budget. I assume something more like Fallout 1/2 in scope.

I'm new to crowdfunding and PE, so maybe someone can explain this to me. Have they stated as much anywhere? Judging from the features list and updates it certainly looks like it's going to be a pretty huge rpg, but BG2 was fucking massive. How does this work, exactly? Are we funding the entire project? 'Cause 3,5M$ doesn't seem that much for a game of this scope, to me at least. Even if it's mostly in "2D" and whatnot.
No CG sequences in Project Eternity either...Modern dev tools. No excuses.

This is Obsidians chance to go from a small struggling (getting screwed over) developer into the big leagues.
I know it will be hard work but if they can match or exceed Baldur's Gate II they will be legend and the days of eating the table scraps of other bigger developers will be over.
This is their own IP and I don't see how they will ever get a better chance to secure their future.
And the eternal glory. Money comes and it goes but glory is forever.
If glory was forever people wouldn't hate on BioWare.
Does anyone know the budget for Vampire TMB? It would be sweet if we could get a spiritual sequel to that. I could go for a real-time first person immersive RPG with various supernatural creatures.
I wonder, can we get the budget for Baldur's Gate 2? Is that information available anywhere?
As other have said, with modern development tools they should be able to approach BG2 in terms of content.
Also, just upped my backing level for the last day. I always seem to do that with kickstarters stop taking my hard earned money you fucking talented people.

"Modern dev tools" doesn't solve everything. Bioware already had a well-working engine for BG2, and I assume they were able to carry over certain assets and other aspects from the predecessor.
Art asset creation, writing, creating interesting gameplay, all these things still take a lot of time, and dev tools make very little difference there.
Maybe if PE is a giant smash hit at the box office there is a chance we could get a spiritual successor to Bloodlines even though the license is lost.
A pretty big 3D RPG like Risen (or Two Worlds II) can be made for quite small budgets and they are nowhere as well known as Bloodlines.
Maybe have to drop voice-overs to save money though.
