Rtings review is up for any interested in the Vizio P series. The video game score is tied for the highest they've ever given.

If your blu-ray player of choice happens to be the PS4 then would you mind playing the intermediate brightness pattern using WoW. Over the weekend I fired this up and for some strange reason the brightness pattern does not display properly. That's the only chapter on that disc that has trouble playing on my PS4.I have the Disney WoW disc and it's pretty great. It will help you with most of the major settings. I don't think it will help you much with white balance though. People usually use professional software and colorimeters to adjust those.
I know this thread is about tvs but is this a good monitor for ps4 gaming?

That's super disappointing about the 50" being a native 60hz. It means there will be judder from the 3:2 pull down. 50" is the size I look for and I really couldn't justify a 65". Oh well not like I really needed a TV right now. Just wanted to keep an eye out for a replacement from the folks.
No 55"? I realize it is IPS, but impressions from avs members have been very positive about the black levels.
Any particular reason you're going with a 24" besides cost?
I'd recommend you go with something slightly larger like this guy.

As far as the 24" It's fine but it's a TN panel so I wouldn't recommend it simply out of personal distaste for the washed out colors you get due to low contrast. So if you're set on the sub 150 and 24" range I'd recommend looking around for a decent IPS.
Ehhhhh I'd really need to see it in person. My experience with IPS panels while I was working in HT at Best Buy was always less than stellar. I'm coming from a JS9000 which had phenomenal contrast.
Crazy to think as of now from reviews (haven't seen the p series yet) its;
Can you afford OLED?
Yes. Buy OLED.
No. Buy Vizio P-series.
Wth with vizio though. Now you have not only different refresh rates like last years M-series, they also have at the most popular size 55", an IPS panel in there... Then the smart cast and lack of tuner. So weird.
Is the input lag on OLED still pretty bad for the 2016 sets?
Is backlight bleeding harmful to the monitor ?
The new Samsung 4Ks have me scratching my head.
Color looks good. Contrast is awful. Light bleed is ridiculous. And the judder/micro stutter is crazy.
For anyone curious about these:
JS8500 -> KS8000/KS8500(curved)
JS9000 -> KS9000/9500. The KS9500 lost FALD and it shows.
The KS9800 is rumored to be the FALD replacement this summer?
Also, got to love that Vizio removed the tuner from their TVs, and the E-series "smart features" is miracast only now basically. Lol.
Even the Sony 930D disappoints.
What the hell got into TV makers this year?
I appreciate the better more accurate color, but not at the cost of contrast and lighting capability. What a disappointing year for TV enthusiasts thus far outside of the LG OLEDs once again. OLED only future (more affordable) with the death of LED-LCDs can't come soon enough.
There are OLED Tvs that are also 4K resolution. So you can have both. Very expensive though relative to the more common LED 4K TVs.Sorry if it been ask, whats better an oled tv or 4k one?
34 tested on the G6. An improvement over the 2015 set but I don't know by how much.
Yet it's downscaling is suppose to be really bad so it still isn't recommended for gaming.

The whole landscape is a cluster. All of the manufacturers have different sets in the same lineup which makes it almost impossible to read reviews if they aren't reviewing your exact model.
Plus the fact that pricing is all over the place as well since so many places have 2015 models on sale.
At some point you just have to say do you personally like the model your looking at regardless of what issues people might say it has and are you comfortable with the price.
In the end it's your TV in your house, and you are the one that's gonna live with it.
I love RT. Glad that site exists as we've need a good site like that for a while now.
That being said I've always had some issues with their reviews. I feel like they need to do separate reviews for the TVs that use different panels. I know it's more work, but I feel like there is a big difference between VA and IPS panels which should result in their own reviews.
I've also never quiet gotten the sports catagory. ESPN is 720p. NBC is 1080i. Watching on Direct TV vs Comcast vs WatchESPN on Chromecast all give different material to judge. Watching a game on ESPN 3 and a game on ESPN doesn't give me the exact same experience.
At least in theory when testing say movies you can use the same Blu-Ray for each test.
I also always wondered about input lag as that can vary from console to console (or PC) in terms of gaming.
I've been recently looking at this set from Samsung:
http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN48JU6400FXZA
is this a good TV for gaming? If not, what is a better alternative?
26 ms in game mode. Has very poor black uniformity.
New Vizio P series is a much much better TV, the highest rated ever for gaming by rtings, for not much more.
i want to see that vizio 1080p d series reviewed. no care for 4k
Scaling on the G6 should be fine.
Gizmodo tho the review is trash.
If you're really waiting to know on weather or not the upscaling will be bad or not I would wait for reviews from AVforum, AVSForums, rtings. HDTVTest already has theirs up.
Sorry if it been ask, whats better an oled tv or 4k one?
Tech writer goes to a LG press event, spends some time with a TV, writes some impressions and calls it a review. Most DVDs are upscaled by a Blu-ray player rather than a TV. Wouldn't be surprised if this was the case here and overlooked.
Meanwhile, David Mackenzie calibrated the first G6 that came into Value Electronics, bought a second for himself and calibrated at least one other for a customer before it was shipped out. He used these calibrations as the basis for his review. He lists scaling as excellent. I haven't seen any other reviews take issue with the scaling.

55" C6 and E6 are out now so we should see some reviews soon.
Who buys a 4K TV, then proceeds to stick with DVD?
Come on tech sites. Try harder.![]()
Scaling is important if you plan on playing console video games.
The article very clearly says that 1080p broadcasts look like buttcheeks on this set.Which 1080p scales beautifully on a 4K due to being an exactly double width and height. (X1 on the Bravia's does it so good you swear it was native.)
You would have to have a total incompetent fuck up on high end tech to not scale 1080p to 4K properly.
I am not talking 480p to 1080p (from a Blu-ray player) to 4K like a DVD which has always been ho-hum after viewing Blu-ray or 4K content.
It worked wonderfully when I watched 4K content from Amazon and Netflix, but it was less crazy about upscaling 1080p and standard definition content from a Blu-Ray. So Skyfall, one of the best looking Bond films ever shot, sometimes got ugly. Real ugly. The opening scene, all rich browns and dark shadows on a 1080p set, became as grainy as if you were watching a crappy DVD rip.
There are still many, many SD TV channels. I don't watch any of them, but many people do. I agree though, I'll watch nothing less than HD on my UHD OLEDWho buys a 4K TV, then proceeds to stick with DVD?

I was looking to upgrade to a 4K TV, but Samsung's Edgelight nonsense and the poor upscalling on this one has me thinking second thoughts.

Ah, well that is a bummer for now. I thought this was the article that only mentioned DVDs, saying to toss them because it won't look good on it.
Luckily, scaling can be fixed through firmware updates.

Wait, the C6 is out? is there a price available yet? been waiting on this baby.
