8 Hours in and I gotta say: PSS system is amazing. It improves the pacing so much and it's so fast and easy to use. Dat second screen. I didn't play these games online before, but now on I will.
I have that exp share thingy OFF. I just read that it makes the game even easier and Pokemon games are (almost) too easy already.
It's the standard Pokemon fare so far, still very addictive. Hopefully the game surprises me as the story progresses. The same way Black and B2 did: they had some great pacing and boss fights at the end.

What is Friend Safari
The way I understand it, when you go in you choose a person on your friend list, and that person is randomly assigned a type, and you can find like any pokemon of that type in the safari area. So like if you choose a dude and he get's assigned water, you can find wartortles and other water starters, in addition to pretty much any other water mon.
I may be off on the exact mechanics of the friend/type relationship.

I get what they were going for with Mega Heracross, but just because it has the features of a Hercules Beetle does not mean the design is good. It was a great idea with terrible execution and looks terrible imo. Original Heracross is so much better looking it isn't funny.

The reason they are doing it this way is because they can limit you to one Mega Evolution per a battle, allowing them to make Mega Evolutions really good without killing the game.I hate that mega evolutions are temporary! Damn it
Regular evolutions can't be limited like that so they couldn't make them so good.

missed opportunity for mega forms to have a special unique '5th move' thats only accessible in mega form.
while they look interesting, kinda wish most aren't just a plain old stat buff. The few that changes types is neat though.

Also, Mega Manetric's design doesn't look bad if you realize what it is trying to go for (a raijuu).
The Kanto starters are a part of the Kalos dex.
So glad to see this sacred cow slaughtered.
