Grinding for mewtwo is such a boring pain in the butt.

The AI is so free tho... At 60 straight right now on A league...

Wait... There's no split screen mode?

Thinking about buying it, but that's a deal breaker for me if true.

No it's not split-screen. One plays on the gamepad and the other plays on the tv, it's because each person has the camera following them. Game runs at 30fps in that mode iirc.

It's true... Also, multiplayer is 30fps.... Although I'm of the opinion that it actually doesn't look as bad as it sounds.

Edit: local multiplayer, not online

Finally got to play some tonight. Right now my go-to is Pikachu Libre - she seems pretty beginner friendly but her specials help her feel unique from the other "easy" characters like Pikachu and Lucario. I tried Braixen for a little bit but she's* a bit too tricky for me right now.

*this is my headcanon and you cannot change it

Oh, so there IS local multiplayer. I was reading the thread starting on page 1 and saw someone saying they were going to return a controller because there was no split screen, lol.

I misinterpreted it.

Thanks.

Really enjoyed some of the Power characters too. Garchomp has some really nifty aerial moves and can really put some pressure with his specials. Love his field phase tornado attack and that aerial spin-slice thing he does. I was surprised how easy Machamp was to pick up and play... Maybe because I played a decent amount of Zangief in my limited Street Fighter IV play, but timing those command grabs is really satisfying. Found myself spamming his flurry of punches a lot too. Charizard seemed too slow for my tastes at first but he has some sneaky good range and spacing tools from what I could see. I think I just got better at the controls as I played more, so I should probably go back through the early characters again.
Yeah, from what I played of them all the power characters seem pretty fun, especially Garchomp. Gen VII should just lowers Charizard's base speed so it's more in line with his fighting game appearances /s

Machamp terrifies me when I play against him. The damage!

I LOVE Machamp. Finally a fighting game where I can play grapplers without being hindered by HCF/BF/charge motions. He's such a beast. Bulk Up every chance you get, combo into an enhanced move or Submission and watch their HP bar melt. Meanwhile you take hits like a champ. I don't even use his Burst move. Burst = fulltime Bulk up, so spam those enhanced moves.

I was really looking forward to this game. So UPS decided to leave me an "Infonotice" (paper that says "Sorry we missed you") instead of delivering my package and won't redeliver it until Monday. Weird thing is that this does not require a signature, there is nothing else at my front door, and I am in a gated community.

I called their corporate number but just got a generic response about reasons why a driver might leave that note, none of which were applicable. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait a few more days.

My EB got shortshipped on the controllers, they said I'll still get mine. I definitely want it.

I don't like the pro that much.

Man, I am having the hardest time trying to do Sceptile's combo 6 in the Combo Dojo. Everything works until the last one which I'm either too late or too early and I hit with the tip instead of the middle hitbox. Is there any trick to this?

I kind of want it now since I mostly use the d-pad anyway. Pro is nice but having to have your thumb cranked down permanently isn't very comfortable.

Netcode is pretty good. But the game really doenst have tight combos that require a great netcode. For the standard combo is easier to mash the attack button, it wont even leave you in a bad position if you miss it, the second hit wont come out.

Basically, the super low execution requirement makes it so it is hard to have a bad online game

That's awesome!

Really why not? I didn't get the controller because I figured the pro would be fine.

I tried to play Smash with it and it never felt right to me.

I have to use it until the Pokken controller comes in stock next week or I might go around tomorrow to try to find it.

Gonna rearrange my controls later. If you hold down A you can charge up Icy Wind while doing anything you can do without holding down A. Currently I have to claw to take advantage of that mechanic so I'm going to try putting A on a shoulder button and screw around in training mode later because fuck clawing.

Pro controller works fine for me with this game. The inputs are hardly complex outside of diagonal inputs here and there, and the dpad works well for that.

Then again, I use my Pro controller with PC games as well, so I might be used to it.

Loving this, the battle transition thing is taking a lot of getting used to. It's so pretty! Is there anyone doing a good breakdown of the important little details of each character, like general good combos or character traits to keep note of?

Just finished all of blazikens combo moves...holy shit, i have a lot more respect for experienced fighting game players, remembering and executing those combo moves mid-fight is not easy at all.

Also please god don't let me get beat by Twitch Plays, the shame would be too much for me.

I wish I enjoyed this, but I find it to be a bit of a chore to play. It has its moments, but it's so repetitive and basic feeling.

I don't like the 3D mechanic, or the phase switch thing. Only the 2D is good.

Lol, I'm scared of the idea of hopping back online now.

How do you do Minimize as Chandelure? It says Charge and release A, but that just uses Will-O-Wisp...

If you're still wondering: Hold it, you will start glowing after 3 seconds. If you do it on the ground, you will also place a Will-O-Wisp on the floor, but keep it held till you shine (it's a bit subtle). You can opt to start holding in the air or hold after a dodge, I believe, and still get the 'charge'.
