I always thought it looked pretty for a Wii U game, though I haven't seen it on my screen yet.
It does look great.
Far from shit. But like many things it may vary from people to people; specially with different kinds of TV.

So ...someone playing on a 4K TV with all bells and whistles on; won't do the game any favors, since said bells and whistles degrade quality in cases like this.

More humble people with 10 years old 1080p Vizios like me, will find the visuals and overall look great. XD

So I dunno if anyone else has gotten the chance to try it, but local LAN is flawless and comes with the added benefit of unlocking all the characters, supports, and cheer options while playing in that mode. My roommate and I played several matches and it was great.

I don't think this game looks good, but as a PC gamer I don't run to my Wii U for a great visual experience. I care less about graphics on fighters personally. Unless it's a sprite based fighter as long as it runs 60fps and plays well, I'm good.

I mostly played Injustice on PS3 and it looked like ass, worse than Pokken. Still enjoyed it, but I jumped to PC the moment I could.

These skill points only apply to Ferrum League, right?

You can also choose to use them in local matches or online matches with friends.

I main Weavile! That air delay he can do is with the ice platform is rad as fuck!

That it is. Jumping off the ice platform and ice surfing has helped me on many Chandelures that clearly don't know how fast Weavile can close the distance while airborne.

I picked Blaziken and im using the hori controller and just doing the tutorials and shit so far.

The controller is very comfy, more so than i expected for a 25 dollar controller.

Played and finished the Green D League at the Ferrum Stadium. Beat the CPU and his Garchamp. Sounds like he's not a native English speaker, as he had a thick accent but clearly knew English dialect.

Then played a few friendlies online. Pretty fun. I'm playing as Chandelure and I had no idea it was a POWER Pokemon till recently. And wow, power indeed, as I feel like a mobile turret in Field Phase. In Duel Phase, the ranged grab (Hex) seems unfair. But feels even more crazy unfair is OVERHEATOOOO. It does INSANE damage with a ^Boost support like Eevee, AND it has armor. It's nice finishing touch to a round.

Just from playing, I'd love love love it if they ported this to NX as a launch title and added Never-before Seen Pokemon from Moon/Sun.

Oh this game is out now? Does it play well? It looked bad to me like a lot of those obscure arena styled fighters.

The game actually plays really good, though I am having trouble with field phase as I tend to rush into attack when I need to be defensive.

Sitting at the Trainer Set Name screen, can't decide what my Trainer name should be.

I was just making sure that it wasn't effecting ranked or something ridiculous like that. Thanks.

I mean i only played on the gamepad so far but i thought it looked wonderful. Im not super picky tho.

Protip: game is awesome because you can use the pro controller and the gamepad as a monitor (AHEM, looking at you TpHD

Game is fun though a lot more complicated then I was expecting for a pokemon fighting game. After several blind matches my friend and I went through the basic tutorials and were like "ooohhhhh" dunno if that holds well for the games mass market appeal I hope the game does well.

I haven't come across any other Weaviles online. Jeez, the masses need better taste /hipster.
I tried Weavile online and lost 3 matches in a row. Hopped over to Braixen and now I'm 2-6!
I suck at fighting games but I'm finding pokken to be ridiculously fun

Blaziken is a beast. Such a rush playing him.

Also this game has some of the worst voice acting I've ever heard. I literally could not even understand the first gym leader or whatever his name was when he talked.

Funny enough, Nia is the only acting I don't mind. The random NPCs and leaders are trash tier voice acting.

Luchador Pickachu is the best fighter of all time.

Having played this and SFV it's nice to play with people that are just as bad as me. I also love the pokken fighter pad I got. Feels so good in my hands.

Got this in from Amazon today. I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm someone that doesn't really get traditional fighters, but I really understand this one. It's pretty easy to understand. I still don't have optimized combos or anything, but I get it at least.

I can't decide on my main. I really liked Gardevoir and Weavile.

He can ewgf with the sound and everything but I can't tell if its random or not. I think it's guaranteed in burst mode though

I think you have to press forward and ranged attack at the same time for EWGF. Or maybe that isn't what EWGF is and I'm just wrong because I've never played Tekken.

That rush you get when you make a comeback with only 1 hit point left and win a match is like nothing else I tell you. So god damn good.

Sceptile players sure do love his attack where he teleports into the air and drops down with a leaf blade huh? Counters for days I tell you. It's even better since Weavile's super is an anti air. I wonder what the guy I just fought was thinking when I countered him with it.

I don't think it's sub-720 at all. what I think is simply is the case is that the backgrounds are low texture to keep the game running well. I'll have to look tommorow at high res Arcade footage to see how it looks there. But my gut feeling is that they simply put the textures on lower quality for the background to keep the framerate up.

The artstyle itself is alright. I still would have preffered a more cgi'ish look (like the Smash renders) But I don't hate it either.

Tried the demo, the game looks and play fine but I'm not a PvP guy and the solo content won't be enough to keep me interested for a long time.

Do they look different between online play and offline? Tekken Tag 2 removed a lot of the animated npcs in the background for online play.

Maining Charizard at the moment, feels pretty good.

Played my first 3 (friendly) online matches.
The first match was against a Suicune who almost won perfect in the first round. Managed to beat his ass in the second round and the final round was a close win for me.

Forgot what the second pokemon was, the third one was a weavile. Had no problems with them. So 3/3, 100% win ratio for now.

Meanwhile i beat the second boss in Ferrum league and i'm rank b now. Shadow Mewtwo got me good this time.

Made it to D5 in ranked. Possibly my greatest fighting game achievement ever (I don't think losses were even lowering my rank at this point). Mostly used Braixen with a bit of Garchomp, Blaziken, and Lucario mixed in. Enjoying the game a lot.

Really hope its successful as I'd love to see more characters added in the future, whether it be DLC or future versions of the game.

Really stuck on Blaziken's Combo 3 on practice mode, a blaze kick right into a flare blitz doesn't seem possible but the computer does it so.... keep trying.

I think it looks great on my 1080p Samsung. It's just obvious that something is a little off. Not enough to call the game's visuals shit or anything like that. I need to setup the game on my projector this weekend and really experience it some crazy glory.

I spent a couple of hours with it when I got home and overall I'm really impressed with how well it plays and how unique it feels. The IQ is really, really strange. Sharp at some times and blurry to the point of absurdity at others. it's really hard to understand what's going on there but from a pure gameplay perspective I like it even more than I was expecting going in. Hopefully this turns into another great fighting series and isn't a one-off like Tats vs Capcom.
I like Lucario
just that.. I like it.
He's the first fighter I picked and spent the night taking him through the paces. He definitely seems to be the game's Ryu. Really well balanced all around.
Can Lucario do Close Combat?
He seems to have a decent projectile and close quarters game.

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
How do you do Minimize as Chandelure? It says Charge and release A, but that just uses Will-O-Wisp...

I can't decide if I hate Nia or not. On the one hand, I turned her advice off immediately. On the other hand,
"Mewtwo is pretty OP huh?" got a chuckle out of me.

Not to be a dick, but I've got a 8-year old Sony Bravia playing the game at 1080p and it's probably the worst-looking game I've played this gen across any of the three systems.

It legitimately looks like a Wii game. The blurry/jaggy textures on the character models are identical to what I saw when I revisited my Wii library on my Wii U a year or two ago.

That's not to say the game isn't fun, or that the art style as bad. Frankly, the action is very smooth and things are so fast paced that it's hard to even notice it during matches. But during training, or other breaks in the gameplay? The visual deficiencies are very noticeable.

I should stress that I like the game and the art-style. If sub-HD visuals are a major concern for you, just be warned.

dak mewtwo with his 1000hp. I got it down to 150 but it activated synergy on top of his mega evo and I could not break out of the corner. Oh well. I bet even if I won I would have lost

She's got a weavile, so that's alright by me. Plus she takes partial blame for when I get blown out!

Still turned off the advice immediately though.

With the untimely death of Rising Thunder, Pokkens become my low execution game of choice. Really enjoying learning the ins and outs of Gardevoire. Think I'll go online tonight after a couple more hours of practice.

Fun game! Played through the first three tutorials and did a training sweep through all of the initial playable characters to get a feel for them.

First character that felt "right" was Pikachu Libre. Love how quick his attacks and forward pressure is, and combo'ing into his down-special suplex looks so great. Really enjoying Weavile's fast string of special attacks as well. These two feel like good places to start for an inexperienced player like myself.

Really enjoyed some of the Power characters too. Garchomp has some really nifty aerial moves and can really put some pressure with his specials. Love his field phase tornado attack and that aerial spin-slice thing he does. I was surprised how easy Machamp was to pick up and play... Maybe because I played a decent amount of Zangief in my limited Street Fighter IV play, but timing those command grabs is really satisfying. Found myself spamming his flurry of punches a lot too. Charizard seemed too slow for my tastes at first but he has some sneaky good range and spacing tools from what I could see. I think I just got better at the controls as I played more, so I should probably go back through the early characters again.

The technical zoning characters didn't do much for me at all. Still getting used to the mechanics, so all of those ranged and delayed attacks are hard to get the timing down for.
