Pokkén Tournament |OT| King of Iron Tail Tournament

No idea, maybe it just retreats.. I lost and I dont know if I can trigger another fight with it yet

I'm pretty positive my Blaziken was literally doing no damage once he went all berserk.

I was handily beating him, and then suddenly I just died near instantly.

You fight him again, after C rank, and I assume after every rank, haven't gotten past B yet

Soooo I am really loving this game. Its a metric fuckton of fun. I look forward to diving into online when I finish the Ferrum League.

Also I know they said no DLC...but I would love DLC characters

I managed to grab him when he activated synergy and damaged it but then I got cornered and on low hp.

For those trying to lab or practice combos, you might be better off going to the action dojo and go to a move in duel phase that you won't use. That way the action stays in duel phase rather then constantly switching back and forth since there isn't an option to turn that off for now.

Been having a blast with the game so far. I'm admittedly kinda just mashing atm, but I definitely wanna get good at the game.

Also, I love love love how everything animates. Everything looks so cool and flashy, but I feel like the game still has some good amount of depth. I'm not entirely sure how long it'll last as a competitive game, but I hope it does.

That said, not ennntirreeely sure who I'll main yet. Just because how cool she is, I'm leaning towards Pikachu Libre, but Charizard/Sceptile feels like they might fit my style.

I actually Prefer to use the ZR button to reset in duel phase.

Also if you hold a direction while pressing ZR, you'll respawn in different scenarios.

Neutral ZR-duel phase with a great amount of distance between you and the enemy

Up ZR - duel phase with both opponents standing very close to each other, center of the field

Right ZR - duel phase with both opponents standing very close to each other, but positioned so that opponents is backed into a wall

Left ZR - same as above, except it's the player that's backed into the wall

This is pretty simplistic if you ask me. Plus if you train like this, you can see when exactly a combo will be forced into a phase change

oh jesus, Twitch Plays Pokemon is kicking this Lucario's ass

nvm, they just lost

Edit: They just beat a Pika Libre with Weavile. Oh my god.

I actually like Gardevoir's voice in this game more than her normal anime voice. It's sort of ghostly, but still feminine. It works nice for her.

Unlocked some more supports through Ferrum League. There's so many battles to go through as you go up in rank though lol. I think I'm liking Croagunk for Gardevoir so far though. It basically creates a circle around your pokemon and if the opponent steps in it Croagunk attacks them plus gives the opponent a defense decrease.

Man I love Suicune. I chose him as my starter/partner and never touch another Pokemon.

I really need to try something else out but I simply love the guy too much, I haven't lost a single match yet and I'm already at B rank.

I really want to try Machamp and Chandalure but I can't make myself put Suicune behind, He's just so fabulous.

Early impressions:

-This game is super fun.

-I thought it would be more derivative of Tekken, but all the systems it strings together are really cool.

-Having said that, after 20 matches I'm worried that it might be a bit shallow.

-The controller SUCKS. Hands already cramping after about an hour. The close, thick grip is just terrible (for me). And grab/counter should just be ZL/ZR IMO. The game would probably feel better with analog movement.

My hands were cramping too. ZL/ZR would be far better.
Pro controller helps a lot though.

But this game was clearly not made with the tablet as the main controller in mind.

You can change the controller settings in My Town.

I know for me, I have L + ZL and R + ZR as the same.

The game is so fun I played against cpu for 2 hours to learn how to play. So fun.

Agreed. Had a blast tonight. Played some Ferrum league and got to Rank C. Played some online and won half of my matches, with all of them being pretty darn close.

I'm liking how fast everything loads and fluid the fights are. You're not waiting around much in this game!

The game is kinda blurry. Fun so far though.

Yeah I think that game has a low res. Maybe 720p but meh. The game is really fun. A easy combo system to pick up and Tekken moves I can spot all over the place. Online is hella quick too and real nice to have a rematch option with your existing character or opt for character change. High level play in this game is going to be fun to watch.

Edit: And Pokémon sure yell a lot. More reason to love Pikachu :D

Online matchmaking is insane in this game! No waiting at all, it was instant every time. This ain't no SF V loading times at all here.

Game is super blurry, besides that though game is a lot of fun, was playing online for like an hour with a friend and then did like 4 ranked matches. Ill do single player stuff when i wake up later.

Haven't touched online yet but I'm really digging the game so far.

It does feel like a cast of 20-24 instead of 16 and a few more SP modes would've made a world of difference for casuals though.

I've been pretty much exclusively playing Gardevoir since yesterday and damn am I itching for some proper guidance here because even though my record seems to be ok so far, I can't help but feel I'm not playing quite as well as I could be.

But man is she a ton of fun. People really never see future sight shenanigans coming.

So the Green League trainers will basically let you repeatedly keep whacking their Pokemon in the face without really doing anything about it. That's got to be some kind of Pokemon abuse.

No wonder new players to this just try to rush everyone down with attacks. They're fun for learning how to string attacks together and getting use to the controls, though. Looking forward when they start requiring me to counter/block.

What the heck is up with Nia's voice. It's not just bad, it's odd.

I don't think that her voice itself is actually that bad, the problem with it is her cadence and the way she delivers the lines. Either the actress herself can't act very well or she was given really poor direction and no actual time to look at the script prior to recording, since everything from instructions to battle tactics to random conversational quips are all spoken with the same cadence and in the same way. It's not monotone, just uniform, and people don't naturally speak like that.

Been having fun so far just trying to remember all the various moves at my disposal, let alone trying to figure out any sort of real combos. I'm using Chandelure primarily and its Combo 5 in the dojo is an absolute bitch to get right, the timing of getting the Frogadier support to juggle properly with its second volley is so odd and it doesn't feel like a combo that can be consistently pulled off at all. Of the 4-ish characters I've gone through the combo dojo with, that's the only one that I couldn't pull off after more than a couple of attempts.

The next league is mildly more difficult. They start comboing their bursts and stuff. I did use Charizard for Green league though and switched to Pikachu though. Those power characters can end fights alarmingly quick.

I hate Pikachu Libre so much. Like I don't even know who they are behind of the mask. I at least would like to know what Pokemon is beating me. WHO THE HELL ARE YOU.

Played online for a while. Really enjoyed it. I still can't decide on my main.

As for who I saw most, it was probably Sceptile, with Blaziken coming in second.

I noticed you still gain levels from playing online matches. Those don't actually affect online matches, do they? It didn't look like they did as it didn't show levels in-game.

I got tired of Nia really quickly, and immediately put her on Low. I still was irritated with her English voice, so I changed it to Japanese and it's much more listenable. Unfortunately I missed the bad Travis voice acting, but I did watch it on YouTube.

How are both Mewtwos in this game? THey do a ton of damage from what I gather at serebii and videos.. Not to mention quite a bit of HP and a lot of specials.

So I just ripped through the first Ferrum League rank with Machamp, never even got knocked down to half health. Then Shadow Mewtwo appears and rips me a new asshole. Uhh, thanks game?

Does Suicune suck or do I suck?

Tried to main it and got wrecked online.

I was actually going to do Weavile or Lucario but Suicune is so unique in a game full of Pokemon who stand up lol.

I actually wondered if the first Shadow Mewtwo fight is even winnable. It seemed like one of those "You're supposed to lose" fights.
