Pokkén Tournament |OT| King of Iron Tail Tournament

The game definitely doesn't have the best picture quality. It doesn't detract from the game too much, especially since it's so frantic... But there's so many cool background elements and easter eggs here that are difficult to make out because of it.

Anyway, does anyone have an idea of what a tier list based on the arcade version looked like? I can't wait to see the meta for this game evolve.
It was posted earlier in the thread.

Japanese tier list for the game as of last week.

It's hella hard finding actual rankings since none of the Japanese fighting game BBS I go to care about and talk about Pokken. Only the Pokemon BBS cares enough to make rankings and talk about tech.

In any case this is a list as of last week which probably doesn't matter since it's outdated now that the Wii U console version is out with console exclusive characters and balances.

A + Pikachu
A Lucario Masked Pikachu

B + Lizardon Manyula Jukain Suicune
B Genga Kairiki Bursyamo Sirknight

C Chandala

Missing Mewtwos and Tairenar.

Put in the English names and you get
A + Pikachu
A Lucario Masked Pikachu

B + Charizard Weavile Sceptile Suicune
B Gengar Machamp Blaziken Gardevoir
C Chandelure

I really wish you could choose between the three support sets you have equipped before each online match. The Emolga assist seems like it would be good against Chandelure and Gardevoir but I've not seen enough of them online to make it worth forgoing my main set to test it out.

Kamina

Golden Boy
This is the first fighting game that really makes it hard choosing a character.

I'm currently plaing Suicune, but I am also Interested in Charizard and Sceptile...

So from the Blaziken's I've fought so far, the general strategy for them is "Spam the same attacks over and over until you trap them against the wall, then keep spamming another move"

This game is sweet. I'm still not sure which character I'll end up maining, I was expecting Machamp but I'm kind of ass with him. So far Charizard feels very close to my liking.

That seems like they would be easy wins. Counters are your friend.

That's actually the Japanese version of a GameFAQs Sm4sh tier list. Don't put much stock in it. Some things are right, some things are... not. At all.

Love the OT, great job!

Can't wait to get home soon and play all night!

Kinda bummed that my Pokken Hori controller isn't coming until next Wednesday.

Weavile turned out better than I could have hoped.
I'm quickly starting to get a feel for the game, it's pretty fun. Time to find out who I like as subs.

Having success so far being annoying with Gengar's slow projectiles and then following them in for grab mixups. Gonna hit the lab later tonight and try to find some decent confirms into super. Right now I just have hypnosis (f.A I think) -> super which seems to scale it really hard.

Really digging Garchomp right now.

I also find it hilarious that it's always just screaming after winning a round. Perfect for it!

I really hope there will be DLC (I think I read somewhere there won't though).

I just keep thinking of Pokémon that would be cool in this game. They've shown that weird ones like Chandelure can work (and work awesomely).
I kinda want a proper flying character, a legendary bird maybe.
Deoxys would be cool, maybe his Pokémon moves could morph him to the different types that give him a corresponding boost?
Hitmontop could have been a cool Hitmon to have in.

I do wish this game had KOTH/Survival. Sometimes I like watching other people play in between matches. That's where I spent most of my time in Injustice and MKX.

I like this game a lot. Having fun with Weavile.
I really want to see this game becoming a success. So there is more in the future (DLC, sequels etc =D )

Gen 2 needs more love. Heracross, Smeargle, Hitmontop, Feraligtr, Scizor, etc.

How exactly are you supposed to get out of someone locking you into a wall if you can't block, can't counter and can't jump out of the way? I literally had a Gengar just rush me into a wall and keep me there no matter what I did as he spammed the same 2 attacks, because I was constantly being knocked down I couldn't counter or block and I'd just got knocked back down again as soon as I got up.

Best tier for best mon.

I'm sure this has been asked, but is there a way to use the Pro controller as my primary controller? I can use it to navigate around but it seems to default to gamepad for training.

Press + on the title screen twice with the Wii U Pro controller.

I've been using it all day.

I think one of the CPU trainers I encountered earlier in the Blue League was named Konoha with the attached quote of "Never Gives Up".
I'm onto your subliminal ninja storm shilling Namco!

Having a lot of fun so far. I was a little thrown off by the different phases at first, but I've gotten the hang of it.

Maining Machamp for now.

wow that is gross, are you sure?

I doubt it's that low really. I think people are starting to forget how bad 720p can actually look. :p

Sadly it doesn't offer the same finesse as most of Nintendos main titles in the graphics department.

The games looks really good...but it is sub-HD. A bit higher than 480p but under 600p.

It could be. The soft image reminds me of Ninja Gaiden 2 which was 1120x585. I'm clearly not a pixel counter though I'm sure the beyond 3D and digital foundry folks will run their analysis soon.

The Background looks sloppy but the playing area and HUD overlay look correct, even that crappy imgur image on the previous page looks right magnified 800x (MSPaint w/ grid)

Kinda funny to me that the only laggy match I've gotten online is against someone in the same house (forgot about LAN mode till just now).

People REALLY like just spamming shit, it's been so easy to get counters.

Haven't played that, so I guess I can't really compare it. But yeah, we'll find out soon enough.

I recorded a handful of matches with my friends rate my skills

I think it's the lack of anti-aliasing but who knows it could be sub 720p like Fast Racing Neo.
The lack of AA certainly isn't helping.

The problem is the texture quality is questionable as well. Now whether part of that is due to it being a sub 720p res, or they just used low quality assets, I'm not sure.

Either way it's rather a shame, as the art style itself is pretty nice. Not to mention the gameplay itself is pretty fun.

Charizard walks like 1960's Godzilla, the one with a guy in a rubber suit.

Yeah Charizard doesn't move as fast, which is annoying as he isn't a slow Pokémon in the main series so I don't get why both Smash Bros and Pokkén make him out to be slow.

The background is low res and it kinda looks off on the big screen.

Spotted a few pokemon tho.

I feel like the pokemon look sort of low res too. Kinda disappointing.

Definitely not what I expected based on footage I'd seen of the game. Yikes.

Machamp is my favorite Pokemon and I've been having so much fun with them in this game. The damage is absolutely insane, I can't believe it. Especially against Shadow Mewtwo, who is made of glass and can die in two combos.

Who allowed this. It should be illegal to do this much damage and have this much fun.
