I haven't got this but hearing that attacks beat throws clean gets me rock hard as a VF player. Might have to give it a go.

You're rushing too fast, brah!

Yep, it's practically instantaneous. Capcom needs to outsource their netplay and matchmaking to Namco Bandai one of these games.

Yeah, it's the same with Smash as well. I mean you're not guaranteed a good connection but then again neither in Street Fighter.

Sounds about right. Maybe he will replace him in the sequel. Multiple of the same Pokemon is not okay in my book.

With the vast number of Pokemon it's bound to be disapointing when we recieve multiple of the same Pokemon. Though at least with Pika Libre she looks and acts very different from regular 'Chu, unlike Mewtwo and Edgelord. Still, two characters that recycle from past characters are better than no characters.

Libre is too fun to be replaced. Replace normal Pika instead.

What? Heihachu is one of the best things about this game.

I'd imagine Hawlucha to be a mix of Libre and Machamp instead of outright copying Libre's moveset. What projectile move could it even have for Field phase? Feather Dance?

So, now that more people have played it: How long is the Ferrum League? Also, how hard does it get near the end?

If I'm not that good at fighting games, should I even bother, if I don't love it to begin with? I don't want to invest a lot of time then hit a brick wall.

It's been very easy so far outside of the two Shadow Mewtwo fights you have to win. Heck it feels like the opponents don;t start fighting back until the third league. I'm currently on the fourth league (out of five I think) and it's not a challenge at all.

I know local battle can be played with skill levels, synergy, or both disabled. Can online have the same rule adjustments? It seems pretty weird to me that ranked online matches can be between a max level pokemon and a level 1 pokemon...

Okay, thanks.

I'm bad at fighting games, and am playing on the GamePad, which is kind of clunky. I'm 28-0 so far in leagues D and C, but I figured it might get a lot harder.

I have a huge backlog, and just don't want to waste my time, because I can't spend days trying to get better at it/don't like it all that much.

It lasts a good few hours. Each League adds more sets you need to win. By the time I was half way through Red (let alone Chroma) I was beginning to tire of it. I'm half way through Chroma now and while it is a bit more difficult it still is fairly easy.

This is the first fighting game other than Smash I have played in longer than I can remember, you will be fine.

Faced TwitchPlays.

Just spammed forward-Y in field phase, A in duel phase with my Suicune.

Easiest double Perfect ever. lmfao how'd they get 21 wins!?

It's a Pokemon game. People that might not have ever touched a fighting game outside of Smash are playing. I assume these are the people getting beaten. In fact a few years ago I'm pretty sure I would have managed to lose to TPP.

Hmm, true. If you're new to fighting games you might not know how to cheese back cheese. If you tried to fight TPP seriously and don't know what you're doing it's possible to lose.

I think I faced a Pikachu new to fighting games a few battles back actually. He didn't seem to know how to deal with zoners at all. He did get a few wins though!

Let me see what your trainers look like! You think you're fresh?

This is mine.

For now.

I did roll with the blue school hat and black school uniform because it looked kinda like Naoto from Persona 4 but I don't like Naoto that much so I changed it back.

Got this today, liking it so far. Played almost exclusively with Gardevoir so far, save for messing around with Pikachu Libre in Training mode for a bit (love her stone cold stunner wild charge).

Gardevoir has some nice setups if you get space. Against an opponent who is hesitant to try to get in, you can set up a Psychic, then a ground Future Sight, and if they sit in block, you can charge up her back heavy spinning attack and either break their shield or catch them with a huge hit if they panic and try to hit you out of it.

Fought a good Lucario and a good Weavile who wrecked me, though. Weavile seems like an especially hard matchup because of that stupid fast jumping slash and the fact that Gardevoir's counter is so bad.

Just had a really, really, really laggy match. WTF. Couldn't do anything. Not sure if the guy left or the game ended it, but it was really bad.

Went through all of the tutorials - turns out this game rocks after all :D Amazing how much of a difference understanding the most basic of play mechanics makes, eh? :p

i'm going to have to be in a really good mood to do the last league, 90 ranks are you serious!

Also yay Mewtwo, too bad I won't use you.

Does actually no one know if character levels and synergy can be disabled online? Total bullshit if they can't.

Also, anyone know how to use each character's second color scheme without having to be in a match where two people are playing as the same character?

Yeah I went from "I wonder if Bestbuy gives a refund on opened games" last night to doing the whole tutorial plus a few online matches to "oh, oh FUCK YES CHANDELURE YOU KICK HIS ASS. OH IM SORRY I THOUGHT YOU KNEW MY BEAST OF A CANDLE LIGHT WOULD O-- continue this epic victory rant for hours and hours"

Like seriously this is such an "out there" fighting game but I am loooooving chandelure. Might be up for some matches in a bit.

I've been wondering it this is possible too. Though I'm less into it now I know that the alt colours aren't the shiny versions. I wanted orange fire Chandelure but it's just a red frame :(

So it's nice that Ferrum League is there, but is it possible to unlock
normal Mewtwo
outside of it? It's starting to drag on.

Yea, I was hoping for the alt colors to be the shiny versions too. I was hoping for a lot of things that the game fails to deliver. Hopefully the 4 empty character slots will be filled in through free dlc but seeing as how its already been stated there are no plans for dlc then they must not have left 4 characters slots empty on purpose, right??

There was "no plans for DLC" when Smash 4 came around.

Hahahahahahaha

Just wait until you get to the REAL last league...

Oh god.

How do you hit after a counter and the other player is doing that slow fall over animation? I see other players doing it all the time but I can't do it for the life of me. Is it only specific attacks?

Hmm, what's the most damaging combo in the corner for Gardevoir off forward+Strong attack? I've been doing jump PokeMove > High Stance Weak Attack and it does 296 if I get all the hits on the last attack, but I'd like to know if there's anything better.

Game is a huge surprise for me. I bought it with some of the money I got for selling my old textbooks.

Got about 20 matches in total. Netcode is super solid.

I hope this becomes a new series and isn't a one off. I would love to see this with new pokemon and with some changes/refinement.

Nintendo and Bandai Namco did great

I heard ten hours, but that sounded long. Maybe not.

I'm already kind of bored of it, but I want to beat it so that I can add it to my list.

Did anyone feel bad for the kid who got second place in seniors in the early access tournament? Something about him made me tear up a bit.

Really enjoying this do far. It feel elements of Tekken, Powerstone, and Smash, yet it still feels fresh.

I really don't know why Close Combat doesn't reduce Machamp's stats after using it like in the games, when all the other stat reduction moves do.

...But I ain't complaining.

Is there a way to know each character's high/low stance quirks?

Like Blaziken's high stance blocks projetile and Gengar can move while doing his stances, but I have no idea what Machamp's do.

I've been playing through the leagues with Charizard. I'm on Red right now.

I haven't even used every character yet, but I like Charizard and Pikachu so far.

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
The haunted house level with Klefki guarding that door that has something behind it trying to get out is a nice touch...

The backgrounds of this game are pretty fun but, damn, some of the animations are ridiculously bad---like Vigoroth "running" on the treadmill in the gym stage. :/

Also I know Chandelure pops up in the background in addition to being playable, but just noticed Lucario does as well on the snowy Old Ferrum stage.
