Fighting games aren't exactly my cup of tea but I've got some pokemon loving friends who have been itching to play this and with my Prime discount made it easy to put me over the edge into getting it. Game looks pretty good so I'm hoping to get some time in to try it before work tomorrow and see if it can really hook me.

Yes. The card only unlocks him temporarily anyway (until you turn off the game). It's pretty useless and nothing more than a collector's item.

The card doesn't even permanently unlock him. It just unlocks him until you turn off the system, you have to re-tap it every time you play that way. He's only permanently unlocked by playing through the game.

Watching some of these stages, I really wish there were (optional) stage hazards. Imagine Regi ruins where the partially active Regi statues slam the edges of the arena at irregular intervals, or getting whacked with magikarp in Magikarp Festival.

Right now they're just background and music skins, which is too simplistic.

Just downloaded the demo in the EU eShop. Around 1GB. You can only use it 10 times. Only single-player. You can play with Pikachu, Gengar, Charizard and Lucario. Only one stage (I think it's Ferrum Stadium)

Having put a fair amount of time into the game today I'm digging it, I'm greedy though and already crave a sequel with more pokemon, MORE!

The various Pokemon here all feel quite different to one another, noticeably when I was first starting off I was using Blaziken whose moves are pretty straightforward, then I tried Sceptile afterwards and was flailing around awfully due to his more trap focused nature.

Demo is way too easy but good to test out the controls.

Super annoying that it is limited to a single match and then kicks you back to the title screen when it's over. Also only supports the GamePad it seems.

But game is super fun. Pikachu is awesome.
