Unless Republicans put up someone more fit for office (which is extremely unlikely considering the rabid base at this point) she'll likely be just as conflicted in four years.

I honestly think Hillary would win by a large margin with Americans that have had all four grandparents born in the US. Many older baby boomers probably had at least one foreign born grandparent. I would say many African Americans have had families here a long time. Younger populations would have a higher chance of having grandparents born in the US. It would probably mostly just knock out a large Hispanic demographic and maybe Asian.
I guess it would be close, but an interesting stat to look at if ever possible.

Wasn't there a study that illegal immigrants are less likely to commit crime? So even the argument I commonly hear (just now on CNN actually) that when trump said "They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists." he was talking specifically about the illegal immigrants and not mexicans so therefore it wasn't racist doesn't hold up because the illegal immigrants are statistically not commiting those things more than the average american. So the only reason you'd single them out on those things is racism

I recently learned on a trip to visit my grandmother who does genealogy that we can trace ourselves back to the Putnams who are best known for accusing people of being witches in Salem. Cool cool. I think I'll stick to referencing my mother's grandparents who fled Europe during WWI.

That's the case for a lot of people living here. It's so hilarious how the Republican party turns a blind eye to the fact that this nation was a mass of immigrants that stole the land through force from its natives. I always had a little joke in my head that racists have some hard-coded fear that the pendulum is going to swing back.

Given the republican love for finding creative ways to break the system, I wouldn't be surprised to see a new "5 grandparent" voting requirement pop up.

Me, too. This election would have been 100x more tolerable had Trump never existed and he been the nominee. Not just in campaign sanity but knowing that Jeb! would actually be able to serve as President in case he won. Same thing I said with McCain and Romney. Against almost everything they stand for, but couldn't deny they were plenty qualified and had, you know, souls, and that I don't think he'd be someone who'd cut at the social safety net.
