It's not just the kids. Half my fb today was middle aged people from Durham and Chapel Hill (like me!) that were looking for carpools to the rally.

There's also a lot of hot anger at the state regarding how early voting went down here and a LOT of fired up volunteers who worked all weekend non-stop.

edit: Now that the campaign is over, I can't overstate how powerful of surrogates the President and First Lady have been to the campaign. They both were all-in and served crucial roles in the messaging-Obama stepped in and channeled not just the familiar optimism from his time campaigning but also stepped into a strong voice for African-Americans in a trying time. The First Lady was a moral north star in the campaign that was able to shine through all of the confusion and bitterness and remind us of what's right and wrong, what's normal and what's not.

The podium of a popular sititng President is such a powerful tool. It's made a giant difference down the stretch in this campaign.
