What gives you reason to believe coddling white people and throwing "education" at them will create a tidal wave of good allies? Because it hasn't over the course of our history of, you know, owning human beings and oppressing societies of weaker military stature.

Certainly a segment of white folks can be gently nurtured into good allies (they're liable to be the same folks who aren't mortally offended at satire and criticism of the white-dominated system). The rest, though? You're getting off on being righteous if you think coddling their egos and paying them lip service will get results. They have to be dragged into the future, screaming.

On the one hand the Cruz strategy is to try and steal the nomination from Trump. On the other hand, Trump getting the nomination would make Nate Silver look bad, so the media should really report it in a way that's favorable to Cruz.

Well, the one's that won't coalesce will be phased out eventually, while societal norms will be recalibrated by properly educating our youth.

I'm not a fan of negative reinforcement unless it's absolutely necessary, and at this point, I don't think ridiculing all white people is the answer to showing solidarity.

He got a major prediction wrong, and he doesn't like when he is wrong. The problem with his prediction was that he applied statistics to psychology before the results were clear.

It was bad.

Was going to take my girlfriend and some of her friends but the school is overrun with her former Unificationist Church members who might be there, and it would cause some controversy if she and her friends were seen there with a guy :(

What gets me is the implication that the media is being irresponsible by reporting in a way that he believes is beneficial to Trump's campaign coming from someone who spent a long time doing "Trump can't win lol" punditry.

Lol, good luck trying to unite the GOP when you have around 27% of the votes from the electorate and you steal it from the guy with almost 50% of the votes. Cruz is giving Trump the most potent line of attack to use.

In his better moments he'll admit that said feat was overrated. The polls were very clear, most states are easy to call anyway, and while he technically got Florida right he basically called it a coin flip (50.3% chance of Obama victory). But, yeah, he seems to have fallen into the pundit trap of thinking his opinions are important because he has a platform.

Yes, Nate is much better when it's election time and he has numbers to work with. He's been OK with his reporting on primaries as they're happening, although I've generally preferred Sam Wang's work this cycle, as he's done a better job of incorporating the actual delegate math into his projections.

The funny thing about that six stages of doom article was that it was where he came up with a 2% figure for Trump winning the nomination, based on arbitrarily deciding that there were six obstacles facing Trump and arbitrarily deciding that he had even odds of clearing each of these hurdles. A bunch of people then treated this 2% figure as though it had come from his model and was therefore unassailable (which one shouldn't really do with statistical models anyway, but that's another story).

One of the best arguments for nomination Bernie Sanders is that it would piss off Jill Stein. You'd think she'd be happy at the prospect of the Democratic Party moving to the left, but then you'd have fewer people voting for her as a left-wing protest and the Green Party's chances of getting that federal funding for hitting 5% would be even smaller than they already are.

It wasn't meant to be taken literally. It was more a statement about what I see as the myopia of the Green Party leadership, i.e., they care so much about getting money for the party that they're willing to undermine their own policy goals to do so.

The Fed should just like print a bunch of money and you go line up and collect it every day. Like on the monopoly board. And then nobody would be poor, because everyone would have the same amount of money.

I don't think there are any downsides to this.

I sent in an absentee ballot for Hillary on Wednesday for the PA primary. The deadline for receiving absentee ballots was 5 PM on Friday, so I'm not sure if it got there in time (I live 3 hours away from the election office).
