White supremacists like Bannon believe a Racial Holy War (they call it RaHoWa) is coming and will do anything they feel will trigger it happening.

So yeah, he's pretty much intentionally trying to feed ISIS recruitment.

Except now that Trump filed for reelection, PACS legally can't mention him by name or else risk losing their non profit status.

Has to all be done by elected officials. As I've said repeatedly, it's time for democrats to start politicizing like republicans. Now is the perfect time.

Oh wow, that news certain got buried. Obama didn't file until 2011 for the 2012 election, for comparison.

Or grassroots political movements. Non-profit status only matters if you're needing federal or state funds, I think? I was looking at this just before Christmas, but can't remember the specifics now. In any case, informal local political activists should be able to talk about this, right? Call your group something catchy, and start protesting outside local state buildings, and on college campuses. Also, celebrities and liberal millionaires/billionaires? As long as it's not Susan Sarandon, though. :p

Incidentally, this is the angle the media needs to keep Trump's feet to the fire. Don't allow him to posit that his refugee ban has ANYTHING to do with keeping America safe but is, in fact, a gambit to put Americans in danger by provoking an ISIS response by subjugating Muslims who, historically, have never posed a single documented threat to Americans on their home soil.

If Trump was being honest, Saudi Arabia would be on that list. They're not so he's a liar. Don't let the Conways and Spicers of the world squirm their way around this point. They can't argue it and it will taint the legitimacy of this executive order even in the eyes of Trump's most ardent followers.

RaHoWa. You learn something new every day. Per wiki:

Ben Klassen first popularized the term "Racial Holy War" (RaHoWa) within the white racialist movement. He also consistently called black people "niggers" in public discourse as well as in the literature of the COTC, as opposed to many white nationalist leaders who use relatively more polite terms in public. Klassen wrote, "Furthermore, in looking up the word in Webster's dictionary I found the term 'nigger' very descriptive: 'a vulgar, offensive term of hostility and contempt for the black man'. I can't think of anything that defines better and more accurately what our position... should be... If we are going to be for racial integrity and racial purity... we must take a hostile position toward the nigger. We must give him nothing but contempt."[12]

In his 1987 book Rahowa – This Planet Is All Ours he claims that Jews created Christianity in order to make white people weaker, and he said that the first priority should be to "smash the Jewish Behemoth".[13]
Any actual evidence Bannon actually believes this?

Read Brietbart. White supremacists know there's active counter movements against them so they all dance around literally saying it on their PR fronts, but nobody stands by that flood of racial hatred bile and isn't a white supremacist

I don't know about the holy race war stuff but he is on the record as believing in dark enlightenment theory. Which is fucking terrifying all on its own.

Yeah, that sounds like the closest direct confirmation we're going to get. That's basically "revert time back to white power and black slavery" the movement.

I don't think this would hold up in court. Trump isn't actively campaigning. He isn't running campaign ads. He isn't making campaign speeches. He's acting as president, not candidate.

McConnell, spineless as always, didn't comment on the ban and only said that the courts will decide if it went too far.

Democrats should start saying Trump is humiliating the US, that he clearly has no idea what he's doing, that his administration is clearly unable to advise him, and that those who manage to do so like Bannon and Miller (name them) are giving him the worst advice they could and one must wonder if they're doing it on purpose.

It's so easy.

Also, US troops dying for Saudi Arabia in Yemen, crazy.

I think the Bannon/Miller angle is a way to go.

Explicitly name them and show pictures of them, constantly mention them and say that Trump is a mere stooge signing their extremist orders.

Trump will probably blow a gasket at this and it might fracture the relationship.

I mean, the other side would be having a field day creating narratives if the tables were turned. Democrats are just not good at this game.

This gives Trump an easy out by firing Bannon and Miller. Not sure this is a great idea.

Don't think Daily Mail Australia has got the memo yet that it's supposed to be defending Trump/Giuliani/FOX News:

'I want to do a Muslim ban': Rudy Giuliani reveals Donald Trump DID ask him to find the 'right way' to build his controversial immigration order around the religion

The former New York mayor revealed Trump's plan during an interview Saturday

'When he first announced it he said "Muslim ban",' Giuliani said on Fox News

He said Trump asked him to put a commission together to figure out how to do it

The president tried to deny the ban was religiously motivated earlier on Saturday

Woops.

Bannon and Miller being fired would be an objective win for America. There's no problem with that at all.

Trump's actions wouldn't be nearly as harmful without their influence.

Yes, it'd be a win. But if your goal is to damage Trump and deny him reelection focusing on those two is not the smart move. I also think that his actions could be very, very harmful even without their influence.

Besides, let's be real, they'd only be "fired" from the White House staff. They'd surely still have Trump's ear.

Yeah, exactly this. It's a little broad, but you need to essentially remind everyone that Trump and the GOP are entirely complicit in what's going on, and accept - if not applaud - every event that happens. Whilst Trump may in fact be ignorant of what's going on, he shouldn't be given that out - ignorance should be no excuse, for anyone involved.

The GOP are going into this with their eyes wide-open, so make them own every single heartbroken family torn apart, every professional or academic denied entry, every raped woman forced to carry their attacker's child to term, and every single death due to the ACA repeal.

Just like Hillary had surrogates on the campaign trail, the Democrats need to push respected or well-known people - celebrity activists for instance - on to CNN/MSNBC/whatever to hammer home how bad this all is.

I mean, Mark Ruffalo, George Clooney, Katy Perry, Angelina Jolie - these people are politically active to one degree or another, and can put a famous face to what's happening.

I know it's from 2012... but it just goes to show you how this hypocritical lunatic thinks.

Watch him turn around and do the same thing he accused Obama of potentially doing.

I think he's crazy. Literally. Even OG Trump despite being a womanizer and rapist did not say this shit when he was a lot younger.

Trump almost certainly has some degree of Alzheimer's or Dementia, maybe more. Mentally fit people simply do not behave and talk the way he does.

So how do we go about starting a social media/global campaign where we refer to everything Trump does as being done by "President Bannon"?

I want to make that happen so bad.

I don't think it works that well TBH. Those in the know who would get this are already opposed to Trump. For those not in the know it's just confusing, and it excuses Trump from what he's doing.

(Let's remember Trump was talking about a Muslim ban 8 months before Bannon got on board. This isn't Bannon, this is pure racist Trump)

You mean "elitists," as many on the right dismissed them as? That didn't work when Joss Whedon tried it last year, I can't imagine it'll work now.

Please no famous people. It's fine for them to do their own thing but I don't think it's ever proven successful at convincing people of anything.

I'd also like to see up and coming young talent in relatively unknown areas get promoted more

Jason Kander has been making a lot of appearances on CNN and such calling out the bullshit. More of that would be fantastic! Get some of these young, fiery unknowns on the national stage.

The democrats need to get their crap in order ASAP. Wasting valuable time and opportunity here.

Pick a leader for the DNC.
Start organizing TOGETHER, just like republicans do.
Start publicly attacking and politicizing each republican who does not speak out against this stuff.

I think celebrities have a place in getting the word out, and the Left shouldn't be brow-beaten into accepting certain groups are "elitist". Amal Clooney (George's wife) is dual-nationality American-Lebanese, born in Beirut. She's also a barrister specialising in international law and human rights. A "couples" appearance from her and George would put a famous and professional face on what's happening. Angelina Jolie is a Special Envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. Mark Ruffalo has been supporting the activists against the Dakota Pipeline.

It's not about how liberals see it, it's about how swing voters see it.

Yep it will. There are about 2,500 contractors in Iraq I think. I guess military will be exempt for now. Maybe after Mosul.

The political fallout is outstanding. The administration will be so dealing with consequences that they have done.

Indeed. Difference of opinion, for sure, but I think George and Amal saying how awful this all is would be more likely to swing people against Trump, than to him. Remember, these are average people, not your Pepe-swilling meme-artists, or the activists that Bernie impassioned. People who watch The Bachelor. People who watch Jeopardy. People who just live their lives, free of nerdiness or White Nationalism.

I was originally onboard with celebrities after the election, but this first week has been worse than I had imagined.

By the end of this, Americans are going to want somebody experienced with a good record. Biden is the guy for that. He knows how to get under Trump's skin. He knows how to relate to the average voter. He's folksy.

Oh, to be clear - I'm totally not arguing for a celebrity President or VP. I'm arguing for politically interested and professional celebrities to just raise awareness of how crappy this all is on the nightly news.

Exactly my thought. People should want somebody who has the experience to fix what Trump broke.

The stock market opens on Monday. I would think it would be negative effected by the news, right? Many industries, not just tech needs immigrants. Additionally, corporations might be worried about how many countries will react.
