I caught the cnn story about Obama's Illinois past, you should have seen the look on the reporter who was trying his hardest to spin it as a negative story you could almost see the drool dripping out of his mouth and the reaction by Cooper when he was done was priceless. He kinda gave the guy a WTF is this shit look and said something like "this doesn't really seem like a controversy" :lol

People try so hard to get stuff on Obama. :lol

If the media can't yell about stupid scandals, what are they left with? Policy issues, rule of law, things that matter?! Much easier to try and create a scandal.

David Gregory needs to be a little less upset over McClellan's book, and a little more upset about how news networks relied on Pentagon plants for 'expert analysis' regarding the Iraq debacle.

Yeah and it's funny that he's not pissed about that being that David works in the press. Shouldn't he be pissed if Bush and his lackies lied to the people by sending out retired military top rank guys to basically tell lies and stretch the truth?

Should David really be mad at that?

Matthew's owned on Morning Joe.

What happened? I just saw the end where he said the new pastor thing isn't news-worthy.

The problem with CNN is that they sensationalize news as much as possible to compete with Faux News.

The pastor issues may be Obama's achilles heel in the campaign. The one good thing is that it is far better for all this to come out and now rather than later so at least people will be desensitized to much of it when they replay it ad nauseum in attack ads later.

what? his achilles heel may be people blaming him for anything anyone says negative about his opponent. He WASNT A PASTOR, he was a freaking PRIEST. Obama is NOT CATHOLIC.

Actually I don't think the pastor thing will be much of an issue come the general election since McCain has problems of his own in that field too.

Also, this story would be alot bigger if the guy was black. Obama's campaign is lucky it was a white guy.

If nothing else, seeing Lieberman go to Hagee's defense had me rolling.

I am sooooo looking forward to the next congressional session. Pretty much any way you slice it Lieberman is screwing himself out of any sort of influence- the dems are going to gain at least a handful of seats and if Obama wins, they're not gonna want to reward some putz that campaigned for the opposing guy. If McCain wins, he might as well go ahead and switch parties because he will be dead to the dems.

You're trying to make an argument based on logic. If voting was based on logic and common sense we wouldn't have had the last 7+ years of nonsense in the WH. Faux News and company will hype this up before the general along with the attack ads, and it will gain some traction. There will be many more attacks ads on Obama on this one issue in the fall than there will be against McCain for his pastor associations.

eh, there will be some, but they have failed in every contest they have tried to use obama/wright against another opponent. This priest thing is just stupid and will go away quickly as it has nothing to do with Obama other then speaking about his opponent.

Oh damn that priest is white? LOL. I only heard the audio, I thought he was black.

Isn't it sad how it changes the whole story :(

My god...Hillary supporters are now saying that Obama cant win with "pledged" delegates so the only fair way to decide is with the popular vote. They are now claiming that supers would "appoint" the nominee...

the funniest thing is that no one had any problem with supers when Hillary had 100+ of them on her side before the primaries even started

I hope something significant happens today. Something good for Obama. Something that would stop this from being a slowwww news day before the circus extrodinaire tomorrow.

well, last Friday provided many laughs. Maybe this one will too? Especially since we're so close to the final act

Today is the day that they release footage of a live alien. That can only help Obama.:D

I heard that they're only releasing a still image to the public. All the video events are closed to the media or something.

Anyway, yes aliens would help Obama either way.

But Obama wants to cut funding from NASA so the aliens may hate him

he wants to cut funds for NASA? What is his reasoning? I hadn't heard that.
I cant remember why but back in Texas Hillary brought it up a lot in Houston.

Found it. He wants to cut funding to give to education.

“The early education plan will be paid for by delaying the NASA Constellation Program for five years,” among other steps. According to MSNBC,

I don't agree with it unless he wants to funnel the funds into his energy reform policy that would put the funds in the hands of researchers to get us off of fossil fuels.

edit: eh...I don't like that policy all that much.

Its for early childhood education (preschool).

He cuts funding for the Constellation project at NASA and gives the funding for preschool instead is his plan.

If you do not know what the Constellation project is it is:
Project Constellation is a NASA program to create a new generation of spacecraft for human spaceflight, consisting primarily of the Ares I and Ares V launch vehicles, the Orion crew capsule, the Earth Departure Stage and the Altair lunar lander.

He would shut it down for 5 years for preschool funding however. It's just a matter of priorities.

I've always found that there is a pretty decent amount of money in eduction, but the mis allocation of it is just appalling.

Not a lot goes to preschool however. Which is why he wants to put on hold NASA's space exploration plan for 5 years instead.

Riiight, because all of our problems are in space, not here on Earth!

True. The temporary suspension is worth it then.

Do you have any idea the impact the space program has had on your life?

I don't know if you realize how small of a piece of the national budget NASA makes up. There's plenty of other bullshit that could be cut thats less beneficial than space exploration.

I suppose that could be with where you are...Here in Florida, our Bush decided it was a good idea to marry school performance with funding. He was also "kind" enough to reallocate funds raised from a per-capita basis to be evenly distributed across all counties. As a result, high volume-urban schools are getting less money per student than kids that go to school in a rural county. When schools with too many students and not enough money fails the FCAT, they get less money to solve their problems!

This is, of course, a way of circumventing public schools for private ones...Vouchers also play a role. I have no idea what is up with Houston though but if its anything like what we have here, it's time to make some tough choices...at least he's not sugar-coating the reality.

NASA funding is not something I'd necessarily want to cut as they contribute endlessly to our future.
