Driver's Ed not required

Obviously that wasn't intentional and the tweets since been deleted but yikes.

Credited on Power Rangers? I don't think he is. Either way, I kind of like the super-outside-the-suit angle. They fought outside the suits all the time in the show anyway.

Huh, checked on imdb, he's indeed no longer credited. He was still on the writer list for a good while, so I assumed he still was. Phew?

Anyway, when they fought without the suits in the show they were always a clear disadvantage due to not being super (aside from capable in martial arts). Why would you even need - or accept- a silly spandex suit if you're super with or without it? It's a pretty blatant 'missing the point' in my opinion. The rangers aren't superhero's, they're conscripts.

Oh well. We'll see how the boxoffice responds to it.

Not only is "Power" a poor choice for the trailer, they didn't even use it right. Should've cut it so that after he says "I guess every superhero needs his theme music." it would switch to the OG theme.

I still think the suits, Zords, Goldar & Rita look like trash but I think movie might turn out okay.

Ha! That would have been pretty good actually.

If you saw it on IMDB, it was likely someone put it there because it was rumored. IMDB isn't as tightly curated so rumored info gets put up all the time as fact. I think he did have a script or concept that he pitched, but they didn't use it.

I assume it will be just like the show where the suits are basically powerups.

Trailer needed "I Am A God" instead of "Power" I agree
I mean...I wouldn't be against it. What it really needed was Freestyle 4. Pinnacle of Kanye/

Or cut to the remixed version they put at the end of the trailers.

This made me laugh a lot.

Lmao, that dude has a grudge against rap god damn.
It's always "This rap music doesn't fit this trailer or this event. How about some shitty rock song that I like." Or some shit like that

Having a hard time guessing if this will end up better or worse than the Bay Transformers movies.

The trailer isn't cheesy enough to quite sell me on this yet. It's a bit "CW show as a movie".

Thats a horrible edit...
No No, it kinda got rid of the hippity hop and Alpha said his cacthphrase! It's great!

I will take a CW version of Power Rangers with a bigger budget seeing as the CW has quality programming these days

What the fuck!

So why wasn't it intentional? It seems like a very random thing to say otherwise.

Maybe the character hasn't taken a Driver's Ed course yet? They're still in high school, they might not all know how to drive.

Total stab in the dark, though. I doubt it was malicious.

Honestly, I like the suits in motion too. Even though I'm not a fan of how monochrome they are. That said, I do think these posted earlier look better:

Oh god, I want this now!!! :(

Nope, just nope.

I work at a movie theater and could see this for free but I'm not because it's clear by the trailer this movie is going to suck bad.

Like for something that's supposed to be be playing on nostalgia they get NOTHING right at all. Everything is off from how it looks to the tone.

This movie confuses me. We're in an era of movies where audiences are totally cool with Chris Pratt saving the galaxy alongside a raccoon and a sentient tree and yet we can't get a more straight adaptation of MMPR. If anything this era would be the time to pull the trigger on a straight reboot of MMPR with all of the cheese of the original series and I think audiences would be down with it
There is still a group of people in the industry (hell, even among audience members) that still believe we are in the state we were during the late 90s-majority of the 00s. They don't wanna get over the fact that we've moved past that era and a lot of those tropes. Maybe it's an extremely early hit of 00s nostalgia, or people just don't want to accept that we've moved onto better things.

Why are the costumes so overdesigned?

I've had this problem with a LOT of modern designs from movies to video games. There are people who subscribe to the notion that "complex = better", even when designing constumes. The more shit you can work into a design, that means it's a better design. That's a flawed way to look at things, IMO. Not that complex designs CAN'T work, but like everything, when they work, it is because they work, not because they have a lot shit in there. Same for simplistic designs, which can work (and do work) just as well. A designer shouldn't make it a priority to make the designs as complex as possible, rather make the designs work as well as possible, be them complex or simplistic.

That tweet was just bad luck..I don't expect a random PR person to know the circumstances of a death 16 years ago. Sucks that it happened

Why do people keep saying this? There are talking animal movies all the time.
God forbid Guardians of the Galaxy has a talking raccoon and tree that says cute things like Groot to go along with that totally serious dance scene in the final fight. Like people were actually contemplating watching that stupid a "Dog's Purpose" movie. Talking animals don't really mean shit

Marvel costumes and the latest Star Wars stuff are are good though, so clearly competent designers exist somewhere.

I'd say the majority of current live-action superhero costumes are on point. BvS Batman and Superman, for instance.

You'll always have some stinkers (like the busy Bay-Turtles designs), but generally they've been pretty good.

Design wise, these smack of producers/higher ups getting the final say. You can bet the designers went through all kinds of variations which probably looked way less Bay-esque.

This looks fun in the same way a lot of people found Transformers to be a pretty fun way to make it into a blockbuster. Maybe not brilliant, but that's not the goal.
