Predict the price of the Wii U (what are you willing to pay?)

I'm hoping for a $299 release but realistically I expect $349 or higher.

I can see it at $300 or $325 if they're going after the Wii market, judging by their choice of branding as well as the hardcore.

I will pay up to $500 for the console personally. After that, my limits are a bit stretched though.

Nintendo has always launched at $199.99, until the Wii right?

I really think they are going to try to keep it at $249.99, but wouldn't be surprised if they went to $299.99.

Your first part is correct but after the $250 3DS I don't think anything is for certain.

Jesus Christ, so many misinformed posts in this thread, I can't believe so many people are spreading "current gen level"/"slightly more powerful than PS360" bullshit. This is just laughable.

The 3DS is why I could see them pushing up to $299.99. I think they might be thinking that the 3DS was a surefire hit, and then it not meeting the expectations, even though by just a little, will reinforce their original thinking of cheap sells. I really think that $299.99 is the high end for them.

Let's see..

3DS = $249 (an educated guess as to the cost of making a 3DS was said to be like $103)

PS Vita wi-fi model = $249 / 3G model = $299

Despite being obvious, Sony did state that it would sell PS Vita at a loss. However, it expects to begin to make up a profit off of it in 3 years.

I think $350 would be the best price point since it would still be considered affordable and competitively priced for a next-gen home console. In addition, that would still give Nintendo some room to slash the price a bit at least 2 years down to be in a position to take on Sony and Microsoft's next machine's head on.

However, in order to make a profit off of the hardware from the get-go, I'd say $399 (even though it doesn't sound very Nintendo-like) is what Nintendo's may to have to go with.

Let's say $200 for the console + $100-$150 for the controller.

=

$300 - $350. Maybe $400

Anything higher is pushing it imo.

$450-$600 would be the range I'm expecting because that puts the price at the unreasonable level for my personal tastes (the same as the $250 price for the 3DS).

299 is likely, given that it'll be a year and a half from now. And even then, it'll be the controller pushing the price more than the console itself.

I would pay 149 personally, but the system holds little interest for me.

Iwata said a price above 250 is to be expected. I'd pay up to 400 but lately I have a feeling it might just be 300~350.

I'm guessing $299. Iwata said it would be more than 20,000 yen and I don't think he would have used that number if it was going to be way over that amount.

Yeah after seeing that quote about it being "more than $250," $300 seems like an obvious conclusion. If they were anticipating it to be much more than $250 they wouldn't have used that number and gotten people's hopes up.

$349.99

But not without some serious cuts to the hardware. I don't expect hardware of that cost to be able to produce the real time demos we saw yesterday.

$299 is probably about as much as I can swing due to my son (if Wii U comes out next holiday season, he'll be 2).

Anything more then that will be pushing it (especially if I get a Vita next year).

I'm willing to pay $200 for it, whenever it happens to get to that price. I expect to launch at no less than $299.99.

Easily 350-400. Slightly more is a possibility.
I'm still trying to figure out how Nintendo execs turned batshit insane in the past 2 years.

Called this before the conference, but I say it'll be $299.

I could see them being aggressive and making it $249, but at the very least, $299. It won't be more than $299.

Nintendo should go 249. Business logic says that they would get away with 299.

But no, they will charge 349 for it, thinking they are still an Apple like phenomena and that the big screen will be perceived by consumers as significant value add.

My guess: $300

Price I will pay: $200

While I'm certainly going to buy Wii U, I'm definitely going to wait for a nice bundle....and hopefully a price drop before I buy the console. I don't mind waiting because the HD Twins have more than enough games for me right now, and I still have a few Wii games in my backlong.

So I'm totally fine waiting on Wii U for a year or two after launch. But I will own it.

I'm thinking $299.99 and controllers will be $99.99.

I'm willing to pay $199.99 only if controller are $49.99. Maybe $59.99. And only if their online has been fixed to modern times.
