I think it'll be a great game based on the studio involved and the director. The footage shown is doing nothing for me. Why? Because it looks like 10-15 seconds of a Souls game but blurrier. The footage is from screens that were obviously taken during this trailer, so nothing new is shown, its essentially pictures in motion.
Why compromise the announcement at all though?
If they wanted Souls fans to watch, they could just put a teaser for their conference and end it with a fade up of the fog door. Job done. In hours everyone online would know Sony was announcing a new Souls game.
They didn't need to reveal any of this, which is why I find it extremely hard to believe they did.
As for why we don't have the trailer, the first leak was obviously screen grabs from a low quality stream because it had b-frame artifacts, this is obviously from a source file. It might be the same person, but it isn't the same source file, and I'm sure whoever it is enjoys the attention.
Souls game are of proven quality. It's perfectly normal to go bonkers over the prospect of a newer, better and more refined version of something you love. Going ballistic over COD with jetpacks on the other hand, I don't get.
People love this game, they know what to expect from Miyazaki.

Seems like a multipurpose weapon. Sickle, short sword, scythe, and maybe has whiplike properties. Whatever weapon it is, it must be magical in nature.

There's a reason why people call it the Souls series.
It's not rational to continue begging for it if this ends up being a Sony Japan and From Software joint, but that wont stop people from wanting it after getting a taste with Dark Souls.

The game might have been ready to show awhile ago, but wasn't possibly due to some agreement the title could not be allowed to affect Dark 2's sales. So that could theoretically create a situation in which the title is showed off really close to release... not that I see that happening either.
That thing is not a whip. Seems like he has the same weapon in all the clips, some kind of sickle axe that flips out.
Tried to grab the best looks at it.
That was my thoughts as well. I'm surprised others are seeing a whip when we see the weapon several times.
